Story
Brewski’s previous owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for this sweet guy so AALOC took him in. This young Border Collie mix is very playful and loving and gets along great with other dogs. Brewski is a medium-size dog, weighing in at about 45 pounds. According to the American Kennel Club the Border Collie are amazing dogs. They are particularly energetic, athletic, and playful and are known for being workaholics. Although a Border Collie will enjoy cuddle time, it is only after they have spent their energy with walks, play and training. In the canine world, Border Collies are among the most agile, balanced, and durable breeds. They are usually very good at agility training and giving a Border Collie a job is important to their happiness. Border Collies are also known for their intense ‘herding eye’ gaze and their almond-shaped eyes. Please apply to adopt Brewski at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Brewski and get to know him a bit. Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on our adoption policies visit our website at www.AALOC.org or contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org.

Story
We have had Ghost (formerly known on social media as Juniper, then Frost) out of the vet a couple of weeks now, and he is ready to start his search for his forever people! We believe that he is a border collie mix. DNA has been sent to Wisdom Panel because we are so curious! This is what we know so far! • Approx 2–3 years old, 24 • Confident, outgoing, and very people-oriented • Sweet, affectionate, and glued to his foster right away • Appears to be potty trained • Knows sit and is very receptive to training • Engages easily and wants to work — likely would enjoy sports such as agility, disc, or scent work • Loves frisbee, tug, and is already learning to bring toys back • Super high energy …wants to play all the time- with you and with toys • So far, pretty quiet (fingers crossed) With Other Dogs: Ghost is friendly and social but initially over-excited, which isn’t surprising after being kenneled for over a month at the shelter and vet. • Takes corrections well • No aggression noted • Not reactive in his crate when dogs pass by • Previously kenneled with other dogs at the shelter • Needs time to settle (but let’s be honest, he was in the shelter and then at the vet… he is still decompressing) Ghost is freshly neutered, microchipped, has all shots Interested parties, please email stacy@k9spirit.org Application is on our website www.k9spirit.org or Stacy can email it to you. Adoption process: Application, contact if a good fit on paper, phone interview, home safety check and meet and greet.

Story
Shelbi came to our rescue from Arizona. The rescue in Arizona goes onto the Apache reservation to help dogs. Shelbi was 1 year old and her young life being possible hit by a car that left her rear legs paralyzed. The vet did not recommend euthanasia , she said all Shelbi needed was a wheelchair and she would be fine. Shelbi was fortunate to be taken to a very kind vet who kept her at the clinic until they could find a special need rescue. Since our specialty is paralyzed animals they asked if we could take her into our rescue. We said yes. A plan was in process to deliver her to California. She was a couple months at the vet healing and waiting for a rescue. She started acting strange. Turns out she was pregnant. She had a emergency C-section. She gave birth to 2 puppies which the staff members adopted. Now there was a 6 week delay. During that time she started to stand. When transport was found Shelbi was wobbly but no one expected what was to happen next. When she arrived we took her to our vet for more x rays Our vet said her bones were healing. For the next 6 months she started walking wobbly but walking. Everyday she got stronger and today she runs and does her happy dog walk. She is normal like any happy dog. She has the easy go lucky personality of a husky and the keen eye and sharp mind of a border collie/aussie. Unfortunately she has a strong prey drive for cats so she cannot live with cats. This girl is so beautiful with her flowing shiny coat.

At 2 years old and 58 lbs, she’s the perfect size for hiking, park trips, or just hanging out with her buddies.   She is extremely dog-friendly and people-friendly. Whoever had her before did not do right by her. She’s missing fur due to fleas. She has since been treated, has gone to the groomer and is looking gorgeous, but she is still missing some of her fur that is currently growing in.  This gorgeous pup is a resilient girl who doesn’t let a negative past impact her future. She is very playful, loving and just an all-around great dog. Swiss Miss would love a forever home that has another dog, is active & affectionate and will continue to upkeep her intelligence and physical activity!   Apply to meet Swiss Miss at  https://www.muttsinneed.org/adoption-application.html February 20, 2026, 12:48 am

Story
Bowser found himself at the shelter because his family had a human baby, and no longer had the time to care for him. He is a sweet, playful boy who is a little confused on why he ended up here. Bowser is a great walker, and just absolutely loves playing fetch. He is a very smart boy and already knows a few commands like sit, down, and stay. He seems to be some sort of herding mix, maybe Aussie/Shepherd?? Bowser will need a dog savvy home who will give him the exercise and structure that he needs to be successful! We don't think he would be appropriate with young kids. Right now he would need to go home with kids 16 years or older, but would most likely do best in an adult only home. Bowser is a very sweet boy, he loves to cuddle up next to you and get belly rubs. He is dog friendly, and would probably do very well with another playful pup in the home! November 5, 2024, 10:53 am

Story
Collie was rescued a year and a 1 ago out of the desert. In Bakersfield, she is doing amazing. She has had training. She has been around other dogs. She is great with kids and cats. She is good in a car. Great trained potty trained overall. She's a busy and active girl. She is doing really wonderful since her rescue. She is currently on boarding. Since there recently has been no foster home that could take her in after her foster. Family could no longer keep her due to them being deployed. Chloe is a wonderful girl. She can be shined timid upon first meeting, but does warm up quickly. And she loves the attention, and the affection she would do best as an only dog in a home, possibly with another submissive dog. Maybe a Mell dog. She is good with cats and has been with kids around ages 7 and older. Please reach out to us if you would like to meet Chloe and give her an amazing forever. Home also available for foster to adopt options.
