Story
Darling Juniper is approx 4 mo old and already weighs 28lbs. She looks like a short haired border collie so should be about 55-60lbs or so when full grown. She is a little shy when first meeting new people, although she is very sweet tempered so she warms up quickly, especially when another friendly, playful dog is around. Once she gets to know you, she will happily cuddle with you. She loves to romp and play with other dogs and they really help her confidence level so she must have another, friendly dog in the home. She’s wonderful with all dogs and cats, but prefers medium to large dogs as her playmates. is accepting of visitors, but will be observant for a bit before she decides to greet them. Juniper is a very smart girl that is learning her manners and basic commands quickly. She is also almost completely house trained. She is a medium energy girl that will happily spend the day outside running and wrestling with her pals so she must have a 6ft or higher securely fenced yard. She would be a great family dog for a family with kids over 10yrs old. Because of her young age, she should not be left alone for more that 4-5hr intervals.

Story
Phoenix is the funniest, 15mo old 50lb guy! He is very active and much prefers to run and dance versus walking. He twirls when he runs and will leap back and forth in excitement when he knows a treat is coming. We are working on calming behaviors and impulse control, but he just gets so excited about being outside with his pals, it’s hard for him to settle down for at least the first 15 min of playtime. Then he’s more likely to pay attention to training games that teach more manners and commands. He appears to be a border collie / heeler mix, with what else, we don’t know. His intelligence suggests this, too. Phoenix would be an awesome hiking partner. After a short run, he’s also learning how to walk properly on a leash. Because of an old injury to his front leg when he was a puppy, he is not a candidate for long distance jogging or running. Walking and especially hiking would be the perfect outdoor activities instead. Phoenix loves other dogs so lots of doggy play dates are a must, although he doesn’t need another dog in the home. He has not been tested with cats, so no kitties please. He loves children but he’s still learning to be polite so kids must be over 12yrs old. An active home with a fenced yard is required. He does NOT have the herding tendencies like others of his breed type. Phoenix is crate trained and almost completely house trained. If he has potty breaks at least every 4-5hrs, he’s doing great with his training

Story
Kira is a 1 year old Cattle dog Mix. True to her breed, she is smart, energetic, eager to learn, and loves being outside. Kira is a social girl and gets well with other dogs and people of all ages. She is good on the leash, in the car and is potty trained. Kira's beginning was a sad one- she was rescued in a very poor zone of Tlajomulco Jalisco Mexico and was found with damage to her eye. Despite the efforts of her rescuers, she did have to have surgery and the eye was removed. Despite all that, Kira remains a happy and smart pup, eagerly awaiting a forever home in the PNW.  Are you the lucky one that will give her a chance?  Adoption fee $550 ##1773544##

Story
Outdoor enthusiasts and endurance athletes: This is your adventure partner! Shy guy Fossi was saved from the euthanasia list in New Mexico in April and arrived in WA at the end of September. He had completely shut down in the shelter environment, but blossomed within days of settling into his foster home. He is extremely curious, smart, and playful. Our best guess is he is between 3 and 5 years old. He has bonded to his foster parents and has grown more affectionate by the day. He is a wonderful companion and wants to be a part of everything you do...whether that's running, cooking, going on errands in the car, or napping. Fossi will need a patient forever family who are comfortable taking introductions slowly with this good boy's past trauma in mind. While his foster dad immediately gained his trust, many men are scary to Fossi upon first meeting.  He adores other dogs but can get overexcited when another dog is on leash, so his adopters will need to being willing to work with him on his fear and stress response. He has been evaluated by a professional trainer and has a management and training plan in place that we hope his adoptive family could continue. He has great leash manners and LOVES going for walks and runs. His best life is with someone who works from home or is home often and can provide him with lots of mental and physical stimulation. He would thrive on a farm or with someone who spends their non-work hours outside and moving. We think he would enjoy training or agility classes. He would also really love a dog sibling or siblings to show him the ropes in his new home!! His favorite thing is to snuggle up right next to his foster sister, a ten-pound mini dachshund, or on his foster mom. He truly loves his people and his dog friends. Kids are currently unknown. He has also not been cat-tested, but shows an interest in chasing small animals; outdoor cats, squirrels, chipmunks, etc.  Apply to meet this silly, resilient, athletic red heeler.  Adoption fee $500.  www.northwestwagrescue.org ##1695137##
