Story
If you are active, adventurous and looking for a partner, Rhys (Reese) is happy to apply! Rhys has taken multiple 5 hour car rides without issue. Rhys is a ball of energy that needs a secure yard or attentive supervision but has great recall, can sit on command, respond to up, leave it and lay down. Rhys gets along with other dogs big and small. He currently lives in a house with two other dogs (66lb and 15lb). He enjoys going to Camp Bow Wow during the day to socialize and play but is known to over exert himself by having too much fun. He does need help on learning to back off when other dogs are telling him that he is being too much and to slow down- he's been known to be a bit of a third-wheeler. He will occasionally need reminders to respect personal space with his body and feet, but will back off with gentle reminders. Rhys is crate trained and loves to lay in his crate when he wants to nap alone. He is fully potty trained and intuitive to routine bathrooming.

Story
Luke is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Scroll through his pictures to see his cute video content! You may remember seeing Luke on our website before, as he was with us from October to February! He was adopted into a loving home, but recently returned due to his adopter's circumstances suddenly changing. We are sad that Luke is back at the shelter, but must admit that we do love having this little boy around. We make sure his days are fun-filled-- just look at all his playgroup videos! Luke is Mr. Popular. His nickname here is Luke Licky and that is because he has this habit of greeting all his dog friends with a free teeth cleaning courtesy of his tongue! He loves to lick his friends' mouths and snoots! Luke has had many roommates since he has been in our care. Currently, he is rooming with Xiomara. He loves having the companionship of a dog friend in his kennel and in life. Luke is a special and wonderful soul who has been looking for his permanent home for far too long. We hope his people will hurry up and find him, because he so deserves a place to call home. Since Luke has spent time in a foster home before being adopted, and then spent two months in an adoptive home, we do know a lot about him! We know that Luke will need a dog pal in order to thrive, so that is something we will require his adopters to have. We would only require that when absolutely needed, as we never want to put barriers up to adoption, but we do feel strongly he needs that. Luke: - crate trained - housebroken - A bit scared of kids, he will bark at them - takes food & treats SO GENTLY it's unreal - loves to curl up in bed with you - seriously so chill. Found his spot when we got home and has been so content there - loves to chew! - listens if he's told "no - great in the car - clearly loves other dogs even if they don't love him back - Boxer puppy eyes I mean COME ON - honestly just so polite and SWEET Luke's adoption fee is $250. This animal is neutered, is up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Story
Bear is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive dark brindle coat. We estimate Bear’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Bear loves people and he also loves eating almost anything. He is not so much a chewer, as a dog who likes to eat rocks, sticks, toys. As such, his new family will need to be vigilant to ensure Bear does not get himself into trouble, ingesting non-food items! Bear is active and energetic, typical of a big, young dog, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained (but, watch out for him eating rocks, sticks, etc!!); he would not do well in a dog park or day care. We suggest he be an only dog. Given his size and energy level, Bear would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Bear! An ideal home for Bear is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. The family will also need to be vigilant when it comes to Bear’s tendency to seek out interesting things to eat. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Bear would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Bear has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Bear is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this handsome young boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the Chicago area and adopt our dogs only local to the area.

Story
**Meet Clara Bow: A Heartwarming Tale of Growth and Love**Clara Bow was born just six months ago and started her journey with uncertainty, but now her life is filled with warmth, love, and playful pounces. Dropped off at a shelter with her six littermates, Clara quickly adapted to her new life, becoming a very good passenger in the car and adjusting well to a chaotic household that included an old senior Chihuahua and two kids under four. Despite being nervous and shy initially, Clara's gentle spirit and curiosity soon won over hearts, especially the children she bonded with effortlessly.Clara's foster family quickly noticed her exceptional qualities. Dedicated to potty training, Clara is working hard to master this skill, showcasing her eagerness to learn and please. Her patience and affection make her the perfect playmate for kids, and she thrives best in a home with another dog for companionship and guidance. While she navigates the world with a mix of curiosity and timidity, her gentle demeanor reveals a soul brimming with kindness. Clara finds solace in her crate, enjoying brain games and peaceful sleep, and during the day, she shines with a zest for play and adventure. Whether playing tag with her two-year-old companion or romping with a tennis ball, Clara's playful spirit and capacity for love are boundless, making her a testament to resilience and the transformative power of love.Interested in adopting this dog?
