Story

Wobbles is a sweet, 4-5 year old pup looking for a forever home of his own. We are not quite sure of his breed but believe he is a Boxer mix. He is currently about 42 lbs. Wobbles ended up at an area Animal Control when his dad became homeless and could no longer care for him. His story is heartbreaking and when he arrived at the pound, they had felt that euthanasia was in his best interest; no one would likely rescue or adopt him. We learned of Wobbles one morning last July, the day he was scheduled to be euthanized at noon. We decided he could not die when he hardly lived! And within literally minutes of being euthanized, we got him to safety. Wobbles had been injured shortly after birth when his mom bit him and severely injured his jaw. The injury went untreated and eventually new bone growth caused his jaw to become almost fully fused. According to info from Animal Control, Wobbles had been surviving on soup all these years. This is why Animal Control had given Wobbles just 24 hours to find rescue. Fast forward to Dec 2025-Wobbles is thriving and you’d never know he had such a dramatic jaw injury! Once within our care, we were able to assess Wobbles’ situation. We identified a skilled canine dentist at the U of Wisconsin Madison. Under her care, Wobbles underwent an extensive jaw reconstruction in October. The operation has been a complete success, Wobbles has completely recovered, and he has ZERO special needs. Wobbles is now ready to move along to his forever home and family. He’s an absolutely awesome dog! He is wonderful with other dogs (not with cats though!) and he loves people including kids who have been taught to be respectful of animals. And……everyone who has met him on his journey of recovery and re-homing, has absolutely fallen in love with him. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, neutered and microchipped. And just had a much-needed dental cleaning with extractions. We estimate Brucie’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Brucie loves people and is very affectionate. Given his size and energy level, he would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Brucie! Brucie is very active and energetic, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained; he would not do well in a dog park or day care. An ideal home for Brucie is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. Brucie’s only “watch-out” is that he can be a bit of a resource guarder with his food and bones, but this issue can readily be managed as he gets to know his new family and as they learn more about him!! Moe is a young Boxer mix with a big personality and a loving heart. He’s potty trained, crate trained, listens well, and does great with other dogs. Moe is generally good-natured and likes to stay close to his people—he enjoys being part of whatever’s going on. Moe loves toys and snuggles and has an active, playful side that will thrive with an engaged family. He would do best in an active home that can provide structure, exercise, and continued training. Because Moe can get mouthy during play, he should not be placed in a home with small children. Moe will need an experienced dog owner. While he shows no signs of aggression in daily life, he has reacted with little warning when medications are applied to his ears or skin during treatment for infections. Outside of these situations, he is affectionate and stable. His future family should be comfortable working with a veterinarian and using management strategies for medical care. One thing to note—Moe is curious and a known countertop surfer! Food should be kept out of reach, as he won’t hesitate to help himself if given the chance. Toots girl was sadly left behind by an owner that passed from a car accident. She and her mother found shelter and safety with a foster that has tended to them for an extended period of time. This sweet girl is crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, is a friendly pup to all people. She is somewhat of a slug and little hippo. Say hello to Gigi! This adorable peach is bursting with love for people and isn't shy about showing it. With her perfect mix of snuggles and sass, she's ready to bring her special brand of enthusiasm to your home! What is this girls back story, you might ask? How did she end up in our care? Gigi came from the B ellwood area. She was forgotten, abandoned and left behind by a previous owner, unclaimed and unnamed. Left in a poorly funded animal control where she slowly lost her mind due to kennel stress, lack of natural sunlight and limited to only an hour or so of time out of her enclosure daily. These kennels although run by loving individuals were kept in an area with no windows, surrounded by 4 cold concrete walls. Gigi had a guardian angel that saw a sparkle in her eye and thus she made her way to redemption road. Here she started her journey towards a better story. Months have gone by and Gigi is thriving, such resiliency is remarkable. She is more than ready to be a part of an active household that can match her energy and provide consistent training. While she's definitely the "queen of the castle" type, she gets along wonderfully with more laid-back dogs who don't mind her being the boss, preferably males. She has made a few friends during her foster experience which only adds enrichment to her spirit. Gigi has seen some tough and rough days, but her spirit is strong and she is ready to be someone cuddle bug. The sunrise to your sunset, the peanut butter to your jelly, this girl could be all that and more. This spunky lady would do best with older, sturdier kids: ages 13 and older who can handle her boisterous play style. And quick note: Gigi has officially declared cats not on her friend list!
