Story
Bear is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive dark brindle coat. We estimate Bear’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Bear loves people and he also loves eating almost anything. He is not so much a chewer, as a dog who likes to eat rocks, sticks, toys. As such, his new family will need to be vigilant to ensure Bear does not get himself into trouble, ingesting non-food items! Bear is active and energetic, typical of a big, young dog, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained (but, watch out for him eating rocks, sticks, etc!!); he would not do well in a dog park or day care. We suggest he be an only dog. Given his size and energy level, Bear would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Bear! An ideal home for Bear is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. The family will also need to be vigilant when it comes to Bear’s tendency to seek out interesting things to eat. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Bear would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Bear has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Bear is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this handsome young boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the Chicago area and adopt our dogs only local to the area.

Luke is at our shelter. Please submit an application from our website or just come in to meet him during open hours! Scroll through his pictures to see his cute video content! You may remember seeing Luke on our website before, as he was with us from October to February! He was adopted into a loving home, but recently returned due to his adopter's circumstances suddenly changing. We are sad that Luke is back at the shelter, but must admit that we do love having this little boy around. We make sure his days are fun-filled-- just look at all his playgroup videos! Luke is Mr. Popular. His nickname here is Luke Licky and that is because he has this habit of greeting all his dog friends with a free teeth cleaning courtesy of his tongue! He loves to lick his friends' mouths and snoots! Luke has had many roommates since he has been in our care. Currently, he is rooming with Xiomara. He loves having the companionship of a dog friend in his kennel and in life. Luke is a special and wonderful soul who has been looking for his permanent home for far too long. We hope his people will hurry up and find him, because he so deserves a place to call home. Since Luke has spent time in a foster home before being adopted, and then spent two months in an adoptive home, we do know a lot about him! We know that Luke will need a dog pal in order to thrive, so that is something we will require his adopters to have. We would only require that when absolutely needed, as we never want to put barriers up to adoption, but we do feel strongly he needs that. Luke: - crate trained - housebroken - A bit scared of kids, he will bark at them - takes food & treats SO GENTLY it's unreal - loves to curl up in bed with you - seriously so chill. Found his spot when we got home and has been so content there - loves to chew! - listens if he's told "no - great in the car - clearly loves other dogs even if they don't love him back - Boxer puppy eyes I mean COME ON - honestly just so polite and SWEET Luke's adoption fee is $250. This animal is neutered, is up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website, www.hoofwoofmeow.org - not through a 3rd party service.**   Luke is a 45 lb. social butterfly, who melts hearts wherever he goes. He is a smart pup and fast learner while working with a professional dog trainer. Luke walks great on a leash, potty-trained, crate-trained and dog-friendly. He would do well as the only resident dog or with other pups in the household. Luke is a natural-born people and dog lover. He jumps in excitement (something he's working on), so children should be 9+ years of age, if any, in the household. He sleeps through the night, usually on his back and snoring in his crate. Luke would benefit from an active family who has a fenced-in-yard and committed to continue his training and taking him on dog-friendly adventures. He wants to be in on the action during the day, so minimal crate time during the day would be a better fit. Whether it's playtime in his foster’s fenced in backyard or cuddles on the couch, Luke is always ready to spread happiness and joy to everyone he meets. Get ready to fall head over heels for this adorable pup! Estimated birth date 5/29/2023. Luke’s adoption fee is $400 - which includes core vaccinations (age appropriate), microchip & spay/neuter at one of our contracted vets (completed)   *Hoof Woof & Meow Animal Rescue presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. Story
Hi! My name is Bronx and I love to cuddle! Cuddling is my absolute favorite!!!! I'm very energetic and love playing, too! I'm good with other dogs and adults but have never been around kids. My foster humans think I'd be good with them because I can be gentle. I am potty trained and know how to walk on a leash when I'm in my harness. I do get anxious with storms and loud noises but my thunder jacket helps. I prefer not to be crated because I get nervous alone in my crate. I would thrive with someone who is home lots and can give me plenty of pets but I'm also content laying quietly at your feet. The foster peeps think I would make a fabulous addition to a family with older kids and/or someone who hangs out at home a lot. If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Tail wags and cuddles-Bronx

Story
Hi! My name is Athena and I’m quite regal and beautiful! I’m a very playful girl, and I love chewing on my toys. Snuggling with my foster family and taking naps with them on the couch is one of my most favorite things to do! I don’t share toys or attention very well, so I’d do best as an only pet. I also like to chase the cats in my foster home, so I need a family without cats. I get very scared in my crate and try to sneak my way out, even when it hurts my head. I can be a shy girl with new people so I am looking for a family or person that will give me time and space to get to know each other because once we do, I am ALL in! I can’t wait to meet you and find my furever home! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application, and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quickly as they can! Story
Hello! My name is Sunny for my sunny disposition. It is the perfect name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone tossing me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short stack, medium-sized pup, weighing in at just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, working on my crate and GREAT with kids. I am a little slow to warm up to men, but a couple days of being patient while I figure out them out – and of course a steady stream of treats never hurt, and I’m totally fine! I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and I prefer slow introductions. I seem to do the best with laid-back male dogs or could be very happy in a home as an only pup! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a preadoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Cuddles and kisses-Sunny
