Meet Yogi! Yogi is an 8-year-old Boxer with a heart full of love and eyes that tell a story. This senior sweetheart came to us from Berrien County Animal Control, and it’s clear he’s been through a lot—but he hasn’t let that dim his gentle spirit. Yogi is ready to leave his past behind and spend his golden years soaking up the comfort and care he truly deserves. He’s the kind of companion who would be happiest by your side—whether that’s taking a leisurely stroll, lounging on the couch, or simply sharing a quiet moment together. He’s not asking for much—just a warm home, a soft bed, and someone to love him unconditionally. Could you be Yogi’s hero and give him the peaceful, loving retirement he’s been waiting for? From his foster: "Yogi learned to be comfortable in his cage after about a few nights and is safe to stay there for hours at a time. However, we trust him to stay outside his cage, with our two cats who also roam, while we're out/asleep and has never made any problems. He never barks and only whines when he wants to go outside. Yogi loves going on long walks (once we went for 2 hours and he still had gas in the tank). It’s much more energy than we thought he would, but that’s probably because we don’t have a yard for him to make his own fun. We’ve also discovered his love of tennis balls and squeaky toys. He loves competing in races for his tennis balls and squeaky toys. He’s not very interested in my cats at all, which is perfect. After about a week or two, they’ve become completely comfortable around him though they’ll get out of his way if they see him coming. It’s made things way less stressful knowing I can trust him with my cats. He seems to have zero prey drive, since he also isn’t interested in rabbits or squirrels that scurry across the sidewalk in front of us. He’s never had an accident in my apartment, though he has thrown up in a car before so now we bring a barf bowl which is pretty effective. We’ve started feeding him a mix of wet food to supplement his diet and help him put on some weight. He seems very fit now. His skin has also improved dramatically. There are no visible bumps or scars on his back, unlike how it looked when he first came home with us. We’ve been teaching him some tricks too. He knows “Stay” and “Come” pretty well, though won’t always listen if there are a lot of distractions. I’ve been teaching him “Leave it” and “Sit” as well. We thought he might be a little deaf at first because he’d ignore his name, but he definitely responds to it now. He’s very friendly with dogs that he meets. He likes to say hi, but he never obsesses over them which helps make him a lot less intimidating and a good companion dog. Similar to people, he likes to say hi and then move on with his walk. He's very sweet and not at all dominating. He’s very calm when meeting people and animals. Yogi is also very tolerant of showers. While he whines a bit, he does not struggle when properly tethered and is not dramatic compared to other dogs. He is further very tolerant of us cleaning his paws 3x a day when we come back from his walks so that he doesn't bring in dirt. Overall, he’s a really sweet dog and I love him. He’s the cutest thing. He loves cuddling with us on the couch but also isn’t too clingy and will stay out of my room."

Story

We got Norman as a 6 month old puppy from a friend. He has transitioned with us going from a married couple to a married couple with kids. Norman has always been a very high energy and high anxiety dog, even as a puppy. We thought he would be a great family dog until he, on multiple occasions, started snapping at our son. He has never broken skin but he has left marks. He has also been banned from the couch because he growls at the baby when she tries to get up. We're not sure when things changed but we are not currently able to cater to what he needs.Norman is a farm dog through and through. He absolutely loves running in an open field, chasing a vehicle and a vacuum and diving face and or butt first under a pile of blankets.Norman is the best boy that needs a family that moves slow in the house, but fast outside. Loves kids that arent his own and will get along with certain dogs. He LOVES the car as much as he hates water and getting his nails clipped.

Wobbles is a sweet, 4-5 year old pup looking for a forever home of his own. We are not quite sure of his breed but believe he is a Boxer mix. He is currently about 42 lbs. Wobbles ended up at an area Animal Control when his dad became homeless and could no longer care for him. His story is heartbreaking and when he arrived at the pound, they had felt that euthanasia was in his best interest; no one would likely rescue or adopt him. We learned of Wobbles one morning last July, the day he was scheduled to be euthanized at noon. We decided he could not die when he hardly lived! And within literally minutes of being euthanized, we got him to safety. Wobbles had been injured shortly after birth when his mom bit him and severely injured his jaw. The injury went untreated and eventually new bone growth caused his jaw to become almost fully fused. According to info from Animal Control, Wobbles had been surviving on soup all these years. This is why Animal Control had given Wobbles just 24 hours to find rescue. Fast forward to Dec 2025-Wobbles is thriving and you’d never know he had such a dramatic jaw injury! Once within our care, we were able to assess Wobbles’ situation. We identified a skilled canine dentist at the U of Wisconsin Madison. Under her care, Wobbles underwent an extensive jaw reconstruction in October. The operation has been a complete success, Wobbles has completely recovered, and he has ZERO special needs. Wobbles is now ready to move along to his forever home and family. He’s an absolutely awesome dog! He is wonderful with other dogs (not with cats though!) and he loves people including kids who have been taught to be respectful of animals. And……everyone who has met him on his journey of recovery and re-homing, has absolutely fallen in love with him. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, neutered and microchipped. And just had a much-needed dental cleaning with extractions.
