At just 2.5 years old, this handsome Boxer mix checks every box: well-mannered, affectionate, smart, and ready to be someone’s best friend. Komo came to rescue after his owner sadly passed away, and he has been nothing but a gentle, grateful soul in his foster home. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and knows his basic commands — truly an easy dog to live with! He’s also wonderfully social. Komo does great with other dogs , is good with cats , and is kind and gentle with kids . This boy has a loving heart and fits right into family life. As a Boxer mix, he does have that signature goofy energy and zest for life. He would love a fenced yard to stretch his legs , but a home without a yard is just fine if his new family is committed to daily exercise, enrichment, and play . He’s eager to learn, eager to please, and eager to be part of someone’s world again. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who brings joy, laughs, and love into every day, Komo is your guy . Story
Hi, I'm Katie! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there, I’m Dalilah! I’m a 64-pound Boxer mix, professional squirrel chaser, and part-time nap enthusiast. My puppies have all been adopted (you’re welcome, world), and now it’s my turn for a forever home! &#226&#156&#168 When I’m not running off squirrels and bunnies like the neighborhood security guard &#239&#184&#143, I’m usually lounging around looking adorable. I’m fully potty trained — zero accidents, 100% good girl. &#226&#156&#133 I love walks, tennis balls, and kids (especially the ones with snacks). I might borrow a stuffed animal or two… purely for emotional support, of course. Cats? Hard pass. They look suspiciously like bunnies, and I take my duties seriously. Car rides aren’t my fave — I prefer a cozy crate where I can grumble quietly about the traffic. Oh, and fun fact: I’m a surprisingly good swimmer! ‍&#226&#153&#128&#239&#184&#143 (Baywatch who?) I get along with most dogs and promise to bring love, laughter, and a little chaos to your life — in the best way possible. So come on — take a chance on your new favorite girl! Apply at projecthopearf.org before I chase my next squirrel! Born 10/6/2022  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 30, 2025, 3:08 pm

Story
Meet Essa – A Sweet Soul from the Streets of Aruba Essa’s journey began on the streets of Aruba, but her story took a beautiful turn when we asked a local trapper to bring her to safety. No trap was needed—Essa walked right up, trusting and ready for a new beginning. Since July 3rd, Essa has been under veterinary care, receiving nutritious meals, love, and treatment for heartworm. At around 2 years old, she’s blossomed into a gentle, low-key girl who’s grateful for every bit of kindness she receives. Despite a tough start—her flat feet hint at poor nutrition as a puppy—Essa doesn’t let that slow her down. She greets each day with optimism and joy, winning hearts with her sweet nature. ? Why You’ll Love Essa: Super friendly and affectionate Gets along well with other dogs Cat-friendly (after proper introductions) Calm and easygoing Loves people and thrives on attention Essa has already received more love in the past two months than she likely ever knew before—and she returns it tenfold. She’s still undergoing heartworm treatment, but will be ready for adoption the first week of December. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of gratitude and love, Essa might just be your perfect match. ?

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.*   Are you ready to add a four-legged friend to your family? Look no further than the paw-sitively precious Venus! This shy, 2-year-old pitbull mix is a sweet delight, just waiting to steal your heart. Venus may be a bit cautious around new faces and places, but once she warms up, this girl is a total "tail-wagging" machine! She's a pro on the leash, loves cruising in the car, and is even crate-trained – talk about a well-rounded pup. And with four canine companions already in her pack, she's learning how to control her fears and just be a dog. Venus will need at least a few months to build trust and confidence with her new owner.  She is a dog that needs both mental and physical training and stimulation daily.  A fenced in yard is recommended, and although its not required, we feel another young dog in the house would help her confidence Sure, it may take some time and treats for Venus to fully trust her new humans, but that's all part of the adventure, right? This active girl is looking for a family willing to give her the patience and space she needs to blossom. Just imagine the bond you'll build as you help this shy sweetie come out of her shell. She loves toys and cuddling on her foster parent’s laps at night. She is also a true pitty, as she likes to sunbathe belly side up for hours. So, what are you waiting for? Unleash your heart and consider meeting Venus today! This bundle of furry joy is sure to have you "howling" with happiness in no time. We know her perfect family is out there!   Venus’s adoption fee is $350 and includes her completed wellness visit, microchip and age appropriate vaccinations.     *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Meet 1.5 yr old Toby. He is a low rider with a big loveable personality. He spent 18 months in a rural pound after being found as a stray at just about 6 months old. His foster mom saw something special in him and wanted to get this boy ready to live the good life in a home with a family. Toby is housebroken & crate trained. He was found to be heartworm positive the rescue took care  of that and he has completed his treatment. He has been working hard on leash skills and teamed up with his foster mom’s  grand pup to get it done.  Toby can be a little shy when 1st meeting people so we go with a slow approach to introduce him, but then he's a huggable, snuggable love bug. Toby does well with other dogs and we are not sure yet on cats. He does ok with considerate kids that have some dog experience. Toby is a pretty quiet boy that just loves to be with his human companions and be loved. He is motivated by treats and willing to learn all he can and he loves rides in the car.  Toby is hoping to find his family that will help him increase his socialization skills and  give him the love of a family he deserves so much. Are you that family willing to give him that chance he's been dreaming of.   Toby’s adoption fee is $400.00  This includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip and completed vetting.  .   *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications.
