You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **If you are interested in being considered for this dog, please be sure to complete an application directly on our website - not through a 3rd party service.**   Katie is an approximately 3 year old, probable Boxer mix (we do NOT DNA test).  Katie was saved from certain death in the south and brought to rescue for a second chance. She was fearful of everything and everyone when she first came to rescue, but with the help of her foster family she is learning love and trust.   She came with some issues that are being treated such as having hookworms, being heartworm positive, and being a bit underweight.   Katie is now in a home with 3 foster fur siblings. Katie went from hiding in a corner to enjoying being outside with her foster siblings. Katie is starting to trust and is enjoying treats and loving pets. Katie is nervous going for car rides. Katie walks on a leash very well once she realizes she is going past and not in the vehicle. Once you get her in though, Katie does ride very well in the car.   Katie has come out of her shell and is becoming more vocal. She is potty trained and crate trained, however prefers to stretch out on the floor. Katie loves to play in the yard with her foster siblings and has started to come up to her foster family for belly rubs. She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and has been a good girl since her arrival a few weeks ago.  Katies foster family says she is just a sweetheart of a dog and would do best in a home with a fenced in yard, or an active family that will take her for long walks and give her a lot of play time. Katie has been around a 5 year old child and been fine with him.   Katie is heartworm positive and will require treatment (paid for by the rescue) until she is heartworm free.  Potential adopters will speak with a member of our medical staff upon approval of your application to discuss treatment prior to meet and greet.  Katie’s adoption fee is $350 - which includes core vaccinations (age appropriate), microchip & spay/neuter at one of our contracted vets (if applicable) *HWMAR presents the information in these bios based on our foster observations and any information presented to us regarding prior living conditions, breed specifications.
