Story
The finder brought me into their home and I was timid the first day but by day 2, I showed them what an affectionate and sweet dog I was. The home had dogs and I did well with them too, even running and having fun in their fenced-in yard. My tail was wagging and I was so happy. They also said that I was smart and a good listener. So the first impression you may get of me is being reserved but all I need is a few days to get adjusted.

Story
Hey there, it's your girl Ruby. I'm taking a minute away from my playtime to tell you a little about me. My sister Stella and I came to AEAR by way of the Anti Cruelty Society in Chicago. I recently had surgery for cherry eye and I'm doing great! My foster mom Wendy says I'm super sweet, a great kisser and have a face everyone can love. If you check out the AEAR Facebook page, you'll see a funny conversation between me and my foster mom. Fact about cherry eye: Cherry eye, also known as ''cherry eye syndrome,'' is a common term used to describe a condition that affects dogs, particularly certain breeds like Bulldogs, Cocker Spaniels, and Beagles. It refers to the prolapse or protrusion of the nictitating membrane or third eyelid gland, which is normally located in the inner corner of a dog's eye._________________________________________________________________________Adoption Donation for Ruby is $ 525.00WANT TO MEET RubyThe first step would be for you to go to our website at www.aear.org and then to the “Adopting a Pet” page to read about our Adoption Process which will answer many of your questions and then to fill out an Adoption Application. Also, please visit our very active Facebook Page for updates on Ruby and our other adoptable pets with AEAR - www.facebook.com/aear.orgAll our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. Boxer Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 2 yrs 3 mos
Barrington Hills, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Bear is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive dark brindle coat. We estimate Bear’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Bear loves people and he also loves eating almost anything. He is not so much a chewer, as a dog who likes to eat rocks, sticks, toys. As such, his new family will need to be vigilant to ensure Bear does not get himself into trouble, ingesting non-food items! Bear is active and energetic, typical of a big, young dog, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained (but, watch out for him eating rocks, sticks, etc!!); he would not do well in a dog park or day care. We suggest he be an only dog. Given his size and energy level, Bear would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Bear! An ideal home for Bear is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. The family will also need to be vigilant when it comes to Bear’s tendency to seek out interesting things to eat. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Bear would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Bear has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Bear is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this handsome young boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the Chicago area and adopt our dogs only local to the area.

Story
*Teppin is part of our Take Time to Fall in Love Promotion. See our Adoption Procedures page for more details.* I am one of the doggies that has the biggest smile! Not everything started that bright though. My family abandoned their house a year ago and then brought me back during the cold spell and snow of April, chained me to the fence and left. Luckily a neighbor noticed all this and called in for a humane investigation. Who knows what could have happened if they had not taken action. When I first came in, I wasn’t quite sure what was happening and definitely did not have very good manners. I am a passionate dog and would often get overly excited so not the best way to interact with everyone. The Canine Care staff has spent a lot of time working with me, helping me understand positive ways to show when I am happy, playful or if something bugs me. I enjoy playing with toys and will sit nicely for some treats. All this is fine but I would really love to find a committed home, willing to continue working with me. I’m quite smart and loving so hope to find someone very special.

Story
*Leonardo is part of our Take Time to Fall in Love Promotion. See our Adoption Procedures page for more details.* A humane investigation is how I got to Save-A-Pet. My home couldn’t take care of me. Here I’m a happy big boy that loves toys. I’m learning how to walk on leash, it is actually a lot of fun to be able to walk around. I never got to do this, plus this means I get to check the many play yards around here.

Story
My previous owner got in over her head although she really cared for us. I was crated a lot. I’m learning to walk on leash, I check out what people call toys and have discovered a toy that I love. It makes a really funny noise and I'm learning to play fetch with it. It's a lot of fun. Everything is a discovery and every day, I learn a little. Even with everything that has happened to me, I always have a big smile.
