Story
Hi, I’m Max! I’m a 4 1/2 month old Boxer/Lab mix. I love all humans even the little ones. In fact I got my name from a little girl named Alyssa on my first day in Illinois! I also love other dogs and currently enjoy cuddling with my roomie Longfellow. He’s a small dog so I think I’d be good with cats as well (but I haven’t met one yet).My foster mom says I’m a smart, good boy cause I crate trained in 1 night and have made great strides with my potty training. I have big time puppy energy and will play fetch for as long as you want to toss me a ball. I play hard but also take time out to enjoy a warm snuggle. If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
Meet Muffin! She is a deliciously sweet boxer mix girl who is looking for her FURever home. Muffin is around a year old and about 40 lbs. The first thing about Muffin that makes you fall for her is the way she looks at you and the color of her eyes. Muffin would be a great addition to any family that has someone that can be home with her most of the day or works from home.  She can get anxious when not by her humans, but Starfish is committed to helping her new family with training support so that Muffin knows she is always safe. She is a wonderful dog. She has never had any accidents in the house. She is great on walks. She listens and learned how to sit almost immediately. She is very playful and aims to please. Muffin learned to play fetch and loves it. She enjoys activity, but will also lay with you and relax. This sweet girl deserves the best - please complete the application to meet her.  The adoption fee of $200 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Story
Brucie is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive brindle coat. We estimate Brucie’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Brucie loves people and is very affectionate. Given his size and energy level, he would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Brucie! Brucie is very active and energetic, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained; he would not do well in a dog park or day care. An ideal home for Brucie is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. Brucie’s only “watch-out” is that he can be a bit of a resource guarder with his food and bones, but this issue can readily be managed as he gets to know his new family and as they learn more about him!! As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Brucie would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Brucie has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Brucie is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. BAARK is located in the Chicago area; we adopt our dogs only local to the Chicago area. If you are interested in adding Brucie to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Story
Bear is a very handsome, young boy looking for a forever home of his own. We believe he is a Boxer mix, sporting a very attractive dark brindle coat. We estimate Bear’s date of birth at February 10, 2021. At the time of this posting he is just under two years old. He is about 60 lbs. Bear loves people and he also loves eating almost anything. He is not so much a chewer, as a dog who likes to eat rocks, sticks, toys. As such, his new family will need to be vigilant to ensure Bear does not get himself into trouble, ingesting non-food items! Bear is active and energetic, typical of a big, young dog, and sometimes can get carried away with his play. He loves running in the secure, fenced yard of his foster home. He keeps himself entertained (but, watch out for him eating rocks, sticks, etc!!); he would not do well in a dog park or day care. We suggest he be an only dog. Given his size and energy level, Bear would not be an ideal canine companion for younger children. We expect children over the age of 12 would be ok. And of course, an all-adult home would be perfect for Bear! An ideal home for Bear is one in which he can thrive as an only dog, with a family experienced with larger dogs who sometimes can get out of hand. The family will also need to be vigilant when it comes to Bear’s tendency to seek out interesting things to eat. As is the case with all young, larger dogs, Bear would greatly benefit from obedience training which can also be a bonding experience with his new family. No doubt, Bear has the potential to evolve into the perfect pup, but is looking for that family willing to commit to him and provide him the forever home he deserves. Bear is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered & microchipped and on year-round heartworm prevention. To learn how you can add this handsome young boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Story
Meet Lydia. Lydia is about 9 months old and is a beautiful grey pittie mix girl weighing around 30 lbs. Lydia has come such a long way since being found as a stray! She loves loves anyone she meets she just craves attention! She is good on the leash and with other dogs. She is a puppy and loves to play and chew on things. An active family with older children would be the best fit for her as she is still very much a mouthy pup. She would love other dogs to play with. She probably will do best in a cat free home as she can be overly focused on them. She knows sit and a few basic commands and is very treat motivated so she will learn quickly. She is really a love. Note that we have a generous sponsor who will sponsor half of Lydia's adoption fee of $400, so the fee is $200 to the adoptive family. It will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Story
Hi! I'm Patty the pocket pittie! I am about 2 years old and weigh around 63 lbs (but I can still fit in your lap I promise! )I love to spend my days napping; nothing beats a good nap. I have two small foster brothers that are being nice and letting me share their home. However, I'd love a home where I'm the center of attention, I want all the pets for just me! I must insist I find a new  home that is not multi-leveled and won't require me to go up or down many steps. My back legs aren't what they used to be.    Seriously though, if you need a lady in your life who will wiggle her butt at you, snort from excitement and even occasionally happy dance, let's meet!  The adoption fee of $150 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size.
