Story
Do you like snacks? I too like snacks, it’s in my DNA! Introducing Freddie the Fabulous Boxer Freddie came to us from a really high kill shelter in Southern California and had been hit by a car. He needed some surgery to fix his leg and rest to recoup! He quickly became the vet and staff favorite. Always eager to see them and give them lots of love. What Freddie says about himself: I am just a goof I love to make you laugh and smile that’s my main job! I am always down to watch movies and eat some Cheetos with you just don’t tell the vet because they don’t like us eating Cheetos. Disney movies are my favorite anything with a happy ending like mine. What I am looking for in my potential family is fun and laughter. If you have two leggers hanging around the house the more the better I love them all ages. I am also a great four legged friend to those of my kind even if they meow! I weigh a healthly 75 lbs and my eyes are just dreamy. I am potty trained and crate trained I am up to date on all my shots and I will be neutered soon. So if watching movies and eating are your two favorite things I am your dude! ##2255171##

This gal and her siblings were found dumped in a yard. Cali is very friendly and loves meeting people. She likes to play and just have a good time. She is learning how to sit and stay down but will need all the basic puppy training. She has never left the shelter so will need patience when learning house manners. She is a lot of fun and would love to go on adventures with an active family. She has not been around cats so, if needed, will need to learn how to act around them. Story
“Alright, listen, I didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder.” My name is Rider, as in Flynn Rider. No one can resist my smolder, so I plan to use that to find my new home. I am a 2 year old Boxer mix. Like Flynn Rider I am an orphan that had to do what I needed to survive. I am a bit rough around the edges, but with a bit of love I am working on that. I have had a bit of a rough start. I came into Rover Rescue with a knee injury. While waiting for surgery I ended up injuring my other knee. I have now under gone 2 surgeries to fix my knees. I am still recovering and have exercises I will need to do, plus activity restrictions for the next several months. Once I am all healed I should be good to go. And boy am I ready to go. I am going to need someone who is dog savvy. I can be very pig headed. I need someone who is going to remind what is right and wrong. But the good news is that I come with training classes to help. I have made great improvements during my time with Rover Rescue. It is recommended that I go to an adult only home. I am a medium energy dog. I do love to get out and go for walks. I do tend to pull on the leash, especially if I see something. Foster mom uses a gentle leader on me that works well. I can’t wait until I am healed and can explore more. I also love car rides so would make the perfect adventure buddy. I love running around the back yard when I don’t have these stupid leash restrictions. After I have been able to get out some of my energy I am happy snuggling and watching tv. I love to be on the couch, but right now foster mom says I have to lay on the floor because I can’t jump. Foster mom also recommends me earning my right to be invited up on the couch in my new home. I also love to play with my toys while my people are watching tv. Fetch and tug are my favorites! I get along with the two smaller dogs in the house, but can get crabby with other dogs when at adoption events. If there are other dogs in the house I will need slow introductions and would do best with a submissive friend. It would be best if I am in a house without cats or other small animals. I am crate trained and will go in for treats. I am not a fan of being left alone though so may sing you a song when you leave. I do quiet down eventually and do fine while foster mom is away. Right now I have to sleep downstairs and get very sad when the rest of my family is upstairs. Sometimes I sing my song at night or early in the morning. I would probably not be a good apartment dog. While Flynn Rider’s goal was to live on an island alone surrounded by enormous piles of money, mine is to find a person or people of my own. I am looking for someone to give me a chance that understands my quirks. Even though I need work foster mom thinks I will be an amazing friend when all is said and done. Let’s go chase some lanterns! If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Abel is a tall 2 year old boxer mix, with long soft ears. He has gotten along well with both of our other foster dogs and with a friend’s dog who we dog-sat over Thanksgiving weekend. However, he has started to bark at other dogs that we encounter on our daily walks. Other than that, he has pretty good leash manners, often walking with slack in the leash. He does stop to watch the squirrels and sometimes tries to climb up after them. Abel loves and wants to meet every human that he encounters. He cuddles on the couch with us, lays his head in our lap, and has us pet him all over. Sometimes he rolls over and raises both of his front paws sky-high to request a belly rub. Abel is crate trained and goes into his crate on command practically every night. Abel is housebroken, but has had about three urinary accidents while we’ve been learning his tells to go outside. He is altered and up to date on shots. If you would like to meet Abel, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Meet Willow, a 1-year-old boxer mix with an energetic and loving personality. At just 22 pounds, she’s the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. Willow is house-trained but needs a morning potty break right away (don't we all!) She thrives in active households and would love a dog companion who enjoys playing as much as she does. While she has plenty of energy, she also adores snuggling and wants to be by your side as much as possible. Willow is shy around new people and may take a while to warm up, but eventually she does feel safe and settles in.  She’s not a fan of crates and prefers a crate-free environment. Because she’s still learning not to jump up, she’d do best in a home with older kids (8+) who can match her energy and enthusiasm. Willow is highly food-motivated, which makes her eager to learn and easy to train. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate companion, Willow could be the perfect addition to your family. Reach out to learn more or schedule a meet-and-greet with this sweet girl! Story
Chance is full of energy and love. He adores children and makes an excellent family dog. He needs an active family and since my divorce I just can’t provide him the time he deserves. Chance is perfectly healthy but he does have flank alopecia which has caused him to lose hair on his sides in two small spots. Because he isn’t bothered by it we haven’t sought remedies other than trying fish oil and melatonin to no avail. He is absolutely not good with other dogs. If you have other dogs, I will not rehome him with you. He had a terrible experience as a puppy and we’ve never been able to get him passed it. In true boxer fashion, he still acts like a puppy most days. He’s very well behaved and notifies us anytime someone comes near the house, otherwise no barking.

This gorgeous brown and white boy was found as a stray, but you’d never guess it from his sunny, affectionate personality. Story
Meet Holstein, the adorable 2-year-old Pittie mix with a striking black-and-white coat that makes him look just like a little cow, hence his perfect name! Holstein has a big heart that’s as charming as his appearance. This playful pup thrives around people, always eager for attention and affection. While he hasn't had the opportunity to be tested with cats, his gentle nature leaves room for kids. He is dog-selective. Extremely sweet, and thinks he's a lap dog! Holstein was rescued from the shelter when stress took a toll on him, leaving him frail and struggling to keep food down. But with loving care and lots of TLC, he’s on the mend and building back his strength. Our trainer is helping him with leash manners, so he’s already on his way to becoming the best walking buddy. While we’re not sure if Holstein is housebroken since he hasn’t been in a home setting yet, we know he’s a quick learner with lots of love to give. Holstein is neutered, healthy, and longing for a cozy home where he can finally relax. He likes a good game of ball. He will relax when you and he are ready. Absolutely NO malice! This sweet boy desperately needs a foster or adopter to help him leave the kennels behind and experience what it truly means to be part of a family.Could you be the one to give Holstein his much-needed second chance? Story
Nala is an amazing dog and her current family is heartbroken that they need to find a new home for her. Nala is a rescue from the inner city of Chicago that was in dire need of a loving family. My wife and I took her in 6 years ago in the effort to provide her with the opportunity to be happy once an for all. Unfortunately we came to find that Nala is not great with children. Once our 1st born became mobile at 1 year we notice Nala had a fixation with children. My wife and I worked and worked to fix but could not be corrected. Now that we are expecting our 2nd child we need to find a new home for her and a happy home nonetheless. Nala is 6 years old, full of love and joy. I could never of asked for a better companion. Nala is ecstatic every time you enter the room. She will go everywhere you go and be loyal to you from the day you meet her. We cannot fathom losing her but hope and wish to place her in the next best home that fits her needs because she deserve it.
