Hey, There-my name is Watson but my nickname should be Mr. Playful. I LOVE everyone I meet. Person-dog-cat- whatever…I’m going to follow you around and ask for all the pets! My favorite activities include chasing a ball around the backyard and going for walks with my foster dad. I’m one of the friendliest dogs in the rescue so I always get invited to all their fun events. I’m not only a master on a leash but also do great on car rides & in my kennel. I may be playful but I know how to read a room and when to chill. We asked my foster dad for a list of things about me- he did a pretty good job! He loves to share your pillow at night (or try to take it all) He chases his tail like a tornado. Gives you little love sniffs to the face. Rolls over on top of you for belly rubs. Like to lay against your legs while napping. Peeks his head in the shower and wants to lick your wet legs. Follows you everywhere. At ALL TIMES. He gives good hugs. I can’t think of one reason that would make you not fill an application out for me unless you hate fun.

Story
Hello, I'm Millie! My foster parents call me snore queen and say that I have an incredible knack for being the best cuddler. Don't worry, that's not all I'm good at. I have been learning some training in my foster home and know sit, shake, and roll over. While I'm bragging, I would also like to mention my amazing leash skills. My foster parents also like to take me to places to maintain my socialization. I go to dog daycare a few days a week and also got to work with my foster mom. Not only has this been so much fun, but it's also made me a great car rider. If you are looking for a fun brindle girl that will keep you smiling all day long, I'm the one for you!

Story
Our delightful and adorable Ms.Mac-a-doodle-do, or simply Mac to her friends, is searching for a forever family. Sweet Mac (FKA Maple) was adopted from Pal's Place when she was just a wee lass of 10 weeks (D.O.B Jan 2021). Pal's Place rescued Mac and her six littermates from an animal control facility in Kentucky. Mac just turned 3 years old in January and weighs 35 pounds. A DNA test of a littermate revealed a breed mix of half Boxer with an assortment of terrier breeds (including Boston and Jack) comprising the other half, all combining perfectly to create the wonderful girl we today know as Mac. She has been very well-loved and cared for her entire life; however, her previous adopter suffered from health issues that unfortunately left them unable to care for Mac any longer. Lovingly and tearfully, she was surrendered back to Pal's Place for placement with another family. Mac is a small pooch with a big personality! She has inherited many traits from her Boxer ancestry and is energetic, playful, comical, and clownish. She can be a bit bashful in new environments and when meeting new people but she warms up quickly and it does not take long before her upbeat, cheerful, and slightly cheeky demeanor shines through. As serious as Mac is about having a good time and playing, she is equally serious about cuddling, snuggling, and loving her humans. A social dog, she thrives in the company of others. She loves the canine friends in her foster home and was raised with cats. Her previous adopter did note that Mac was never aggressive with the cats, she was always trying to engage them in play, much the annoyance of the senior cats in the home. Because of this, we feel she'd be best suited to a home with dog-savvy, confident cats. Mac is well-behaved in the home, crate-trained, and housebroken. Mac is prone to producing urinary crystals, a fairly common condition, especially among many terrier breeds. Her condition is easily managed with a prescription diet of urinary S/O food, which is comparable in cost to other premium dog foods. She is also spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a family! Mac is in a foster home on Chicago's northwest side and can be visited by appointment only after an adoption application has been completed and approved. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. This fee helps to cover the costs of caring for the rescued dogs of Pal's Place. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. For more information or to receive an application, email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Mac's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare her for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Mac from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application, and please put the dog's name in the subject line. Story
**HUGH HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING!!** Hugh, our resident cool dude, is currently accepting applications for his forever home. This guy is an absolute gem, and we encourage anyone looking for a practically perfect dog to submit their application today! Hugh found his way to Pal's Place from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky. His breed and past are unknown but we suspect he's a combination of many breeds, a true super mutt! Cur, Shepherd, Boxer, Lab, Shar-Pei, and more all possible ancestors in his lineage. His exact age is also a mystery; there's some mileage on him, as evidenced by his distinguished gray beard and a wiseness in his demeanor and eyes usually reserved for dogs that have been around for several years. At the same time, he is still playful and spry without being hyper or wild and maintains a bit of a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Our best estimate for age is somewhere between 7-9 years. Hugh is the kind of dog we think will fit in most households easily and will make a great companion for a family looking for a dog that is still active, playful, and fun-loving but one that is past the puppy shenanigans, has some training, and also knows when and how to hang out and relax. An added bonus to his stellar personality is his size; just under 50 pounds; he's a medium-sized pooch, ideal for urban dwellings. Hugh is a confident, friendly dog who loves people and greets everyone with a smile on his face and abundant tail wags. He's got great house manners as well. Quiet, housebroken, crate-trained, not destructive or anxious when alone, walks nicely on leash, friendly with other dogs. What more could you possibly want in a dog?! You've probably noticed the cloudiness in his eyes and may be thinking of cataracts, but most clouding is scarring from ulcers left untreated until Hugh found his way to us. A veterinary ophthalmologist in Chicago diagnosed Hugh with indolent ulcers in both eyes, and they suspected he had been dealing with them for many months without treatment, causing some damage and scarring to the lenses of his eyes. He had a dremel debridement procedure when he first came to the rescue and completed a month-long course of eye medications to facilitate the healing of the ulcers. The ophthalmologist also noted nuclear sclerosis in both eyes, which is clouding or haziness often seen in the eyes of middle-aged to senior dogs resulting from the normal aging process of the eye. The doctor also noted a small insipient cataract in his right eye in the lower corner. Despite these three different diagnoses, the doctor was confident that his vision had not been impacted in a significant way and did not expect any progression to cause a significant loss of vision later in life. Hugh's behavior also shows no signs of vision impairment, but despite the ulcers now being healed, the scars will remain, and his eyes will always appear very cloudy. Hugh was recently neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative) and microchipped. With his clean bill of health, he's ready for his next chapter: a forever home of his own! Hugh's adoption fee to the rescue is $375. He is in a foster home on Chicago's north side and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason.
