Story
We got Zeus from a breeder downstate to be a companion for our other dog (second boxer we have gotten from this breeder). He's a loving dog with a lot of energy, great for a family with kids that will play with him. Unfortunately our schedules have just become too busy to give him the attention he deserves

Story
Betsy is a FUN dog who loves to be with other dogs, maternal and bouncy. She is not aggressive or bossy but does have a bark and her terrier DNA comes out when meeting new smaller dogs. She has spent most of her time with bigger dogs and enjoys being the 'shortie' of the playgroup. Betsy is not food motivated, nibbles through the day, but has managed to become a bit fluffy. 50 lb dog now, she loves car rides, water! and sunbathing. Betsy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and very health - a bit fluffy as she has matured, now 4 years old. Her breed had been a guess until now! a donated DNA test revealed the classic Houston mutt mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Lab, Boxer, German Shepherd, Shar Pei, Chow Chow. She is a short dog with medium double coat and a sharp mind. She was transferred to Caffeinated Canine for a spay and adoption placement. She has been fostered with kids, other dogs and in a house/apartment. She is crate trained and loves routine - literally bounces up and down, runs outside then back into her crate to nap. She would benefit from a yard due to her energy.

Story
Phineas our handsome gentleman with ears that could rival any floppy-eared dog celebrity. While he might take a little time to warm up (he’s got to get to know you first!), once he does, you’ll be charmed by his calm demeanor and playful side. He’s the kind of dog who loves to chill, but when the mood strikes, he’ll bring out his goofy, fun-loving personality. Phineas would thrive in an adult-only home where he’s the one and only dog, with an experienced handler who understands that he may need a little time to settle in. Once he’s comfortable, he’ll give you all the loyalty and love you can handle, and maybe even a few floppy-ear wiggles! If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow guy who’s got a playful side and plenty of love to give, Phineas could be your perfect match. With a little patience and guidance, he’s ready to be your new best friend!

Story
We love Ivy! Ivy is such a charming and friendly dog who makes instant friends with anyone she meets (sometimes needs a minute or 2 with some dogs.) Ivy loves kiddie pools and will entertain herself with toys. Even after they're gutted, she enjoys flipping them around and catching them. If the shred lands in your lap, then you're in on the game too! Ivy's foster mom says: "Boxer mix Ivy is delightful, with excellent house manners, good with small kids, good on a leash. Great with other dogs after a proper introduction. Loves watersports: pools, hoses, and squirt guns. Sweet, friendly, and affectionate with excellent house manners." Ivy is crate trained and has excellent house manners. She is fine with small children. She walks well on a leash but can be strong. Ivy is about 2 yo and weighs about 55 lbs. She is spayed, vaccinated, screened for parasites, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $390 cash and she is available for foster-to-adopt within the Chicago area. Story
Dog Name: Delilah Age: 5 months Gender: Female Breed: Pit Bull Terrier mix Weight: 25lbs Crate trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes with a schedule Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes Vaccinated: Yes Spayed/Neutered: Yes Heartworm: Negative Microchipped: Yes Energy level: Medium. Would do best in a home that averages 2, 30 minute walks and some play daily. Other than that, she loves her naps! The best way to describe Delilah (also known as “Lilah” or “Deli meat” in her foster home) is one little walking cuddle puddle. She’s soft, both in her spirit and in her coat; she’s confident, but not wreckless; she’s incredibly trainable. Her ears are the size of satellites and I’d put money on her being able to hear what’s going on an entire galaxy away. The only interruption in the sound waves reaching her noggin might come from the plethora of snorts and grunts she makes doing seemingly anything. It’s beyond adorable. She ’s like a little piglet! As a tiny baby angel, Deli is currently in her “all or nothing” stage, where she’s either playing with her foster brother and toys or taking a FAT nap in your lap. She’s a perfect coworker to her foster mom when she works from home, and like a little shadow will follow her people everywhere. She’s a puppy, so Delilah likes to play and is still learning to navigate the world around her. You wouldn’t guess she was a puppy if you heard her sleeping though. She sounds like your old man in a recliner when he’s “just resting his eyes”. Delilah defines “personal space” as the space that you and her take up together. She loves to be right wherever you are. She hasn’t met a human, dog, or cat she hasn’t immediately wanted to befriend, and has even play bowed at a lamp post. Seriously. She’s working on her leash training and excelling, knows commands “sit” and “crate” well (she’s a smart cookie), and is currently working on “stay”, “down”, and “drop” cues. She’s amazing in the car, perfect in the bath, super cat and dog-friendly, doesn’t react to kids of any age that we’ve seen, doesn’t bark nor has shown any concerning destructive behaviors (other than sometimes collecting our shoes without damaging them), and is so eager to please. She’s house-trained as long as she sticks to a routine (which is standard for her age) and will not potty when crated nor overnight. She could work on basic puppy training skills like being mouthy during playtime and being left alone, along with anything specific to your routine or home. But overall, Delilah is a sweet bundle of joy that would be the perfect addition to any home environment. Anything that we’ve thrown at her she has exceeded all expectations. Delilah would thrive in a home with owners that could continue her basic training and give her a solid routine or structure as she’s still learning. She would likely do best with a family that spends more time at home than not given her needs for training, but also because she genuinely just loves being around her people. A medium energy dog, Delilah LOVES playing with her dog foster brother, playing tug of war, or chewing on a hard bone. But when nighttime comes around, you better love cuddles and have an empty lap to spare otherwise this is not the gal for you. Want to see videos of Delilah? Her foster mom has documented her journey on TikTok @lexlikesto for potential adopters to get to know her better! Story
Dog Name: Polly Age: 2 Gender: F Breed: pitbull/boxer Weight: 40lbs Crate trained: yes Potty trained: yes Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: unknown Kid friendly: possibly- older Vaccinated: yes Spayed/Neutered: yes Heartworm: negative Microchipped: yes Energy level: medium/low Polly Pocket is cute on the outside but even better when you get her to open up. She has come miles from the terrified dog at CACC, though she still has her moments. Polly LOVES toys, especially squishy balls and small stuffed animals. She almost always has one in her mouth, or two, and has been known to somehow fit 3 in there. She easily entertains herself with them by throwing them around, pouncing on them, running around with them and teasing you to catch her. She can be a power chewer with some toys, while keeping others safe from harm. Her happiness is contagious as she rolls around, sploots, does crazy yoga poses, and is always wagging her tail with her toys. She is also very fast when she wants to be, and can zoom around the house or yard, with an almost deer like hop to her running. Sometimes when running up the stairs, she will stop halfway turn around, lay down on the stairs and wait for you - it’s adorable. In addition to toys, she loves belly rubs. She asks for them regularly, and sometimes jumps up to give hugs. 99% of the time she is a very happy playful dog. Polly generally sits without being asked, especially if a treat is involved, and also knows how to give paw. She is potty trained and non-destructive, and is left uncrated in a room with no issues. If I didn’t have 3 other dogs, I would have no concern leaving her out to roam the whole house. She is curious and might follow you around, but is not needy, so you can easily work on a computer or watch tv or do whatever, as she will go off and play by herself once she has done her investigating and realizes she isn’t interested in what you are doing. I’ve only heard her bark twice (randomly at nothing), and she only whines when she needs to go outside or for a second sometimes when you put her in her room. She will even voluntarily go outside in the rain and show! While she is generally unphased by noises (tv, dishes clanking, power drill, dogs barking, lawnmower, my generator, vacuum, etc), she gets very nervous when she hears the garbage truck. I know this will get better over time, as she was initially the same way with the snow plow, but is now fine with this too. She can take a bit to trust people and is a bit afraid of people when they meet, specifically when it comes to being close to her neck. A stranger putting on collars or leashes is a trigger for her. Poor girl thinks everyone wants to grab her and hurt her :( Having a secure, fenced yard (size isn’t super important) would be ideal for her as walks will be a bit overwhelming. She has met several people, male and female adults, and has warmed up to them, usually under 5 minutes. Polly Pocket is cute, playful, and a very sweet girl. When she trusts you, she loves you. You are her person and she knows the world is safe. She warmed up to me in about a day, and continued to be even more awesome as the weeks went on. She definitely had a very traumatic past, but I have seen huge strides in her every single day that I’ve had her. I have no doubt that she will continue to open up and be an excellent dog for whomever is lucky enough to earn her trust. She has not met any children to my knowledge, but probably would be okay around older children that won’t be grabby with her. She would be fine with another dog, but I think she would also enjoy being an only dog and being spoiled with all the toys and love her heart desires. Being left alone while at work is not a concern, nor is coming and going to run errands - she just stays on her bed until you go into her room to get her. Her ideal adopter would be someone that has some patience, wants to spoil her with toys and treats, and doesn’t have a super active social life (constant new people coming over and always wanting to take her outside on walks and to new places). If you’re interested in meeting Polly, please fill out an application at the link below. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
