Meet Raven — the senior Boxer mix with a heart as big as her gentle soul. Life hasn’t been the kindest, as she was found abandoned at an intersection, but she’s ready to find a soft, loving place to call her own. Raven is a shy lady at first, needing a little time to feel safe, but once she warms up, she shows her sweet, playful side. She loves people, enjoys exploring, and still has plenty of energy for walks and outdoor adventures. If you’re looking for a tender, goofy companion who’s equal parts snuggler and explorer, Raven is your girl.Dogs: No thank you! I find them annoying. Cats: UnknownKids: Older, respectful kids. Younger kids may be too much for me.

Story
Hi! My name is Jax, and I’m a 4 year boxer/pit mix who weighs 50 lbs. I’m super sweet and absolutely love being around people. I’m very much a cuddle bug (and think I’m a lap dog). I’ve also been very happy playing with other dogs. Cats have not been my favorite though. Walks are one of my favorite things and I walk well on a leash. I also love running around in the yard and playing fetch with tennis balls. They’re cool, but my absolute favorite are stuffies that squeak. I can entertain myself with them but also will beg to play tug of war. I’m also super smart and already know sit, lie down, stay, crate, right, come, and paw. I’m energetic and active but also settle fast and am happy to cuddle or sleep in my bed. Although, I have separation anxiety and get stressed when alone, so I would do best in a home where I’m not alone for too long. Sometimes, I let out a light growl when a door opens into the house or a room. It seems like I do it out of caution, but immediately relax once I know who it is. I tend to be a little more weary of men than women in that regard. I currently sleep in my bed next to my foster mom’s bed, but should do fine in a crate in the room as well. If you would like to meet me, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Meet Brutus 💙 Brutus is 5-6 years old and is a deeply affectionate, people-loving boy who thrives on closeness with his humans. He loves cuddling, being petted, and will happily sleep next to you at night. Wherever you go, Brutus is likely to follow — often carrying his favorite soothing toy in his mouth for comfort. He is good with other dogs. Brutus knows basic commands and is fully housebroken, which makes settling into a new home much easier. He enjoys playtime, especially tug-of-war, and he takes his toy destruction job very seriously (squeaker toys beware!). He walks well on leash and does best wearing a harness, ideally a front-clip harness. He may pull a little and can bark when he sees people out on walks, but he recovers quickly and continues on. This behavior appears to be excitement or uncertainty rather than aggression, and with consistency, patience, and positive training, it continues to improve. Brutus is not a fan of being confined away from his people. He will voluntarily rest in his crate when it’s open and his human is nearby, but being crated while left alone is stressful for him. He would do best in a home that understands this and is willing to help him gradually build confidence with alone time. With stability, routine, and love, Brutus truly shines. He is a cuddly, loyal companion who bonds deeply and brings a lot of joy to those around him. He’s looking for a patient, loving home that will help him continue to grow into the amazing dog he already is. If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Meet Pepper & Princess – A Beautiful Boxer Duo 💕 Pepper and her daughter Princess are a bonded pair of Boxers with hearts as big as their smiles. They came into our rescue several months ago after their owner experienced life changes and could no longer care for them. When they arrived, both girls were underweight and had never received proper veterinary care. They were heartworm positive and neither had been spayed. Thanks to the love and dedication of our rescue, Pepper and Princess are now fully up to date on vaccines and have successfully completed heartworm treatment. They’ve come such a long way and are healthier, happier, and ready for their next chapter. Personality-wise, these two are absolute gems. They are incredibly sweet, gentle, and polite — no jumping here! They do wonderfully with other dogs, puppies, and even cats. Their calm, loving nature makes them a joy to be around. Pepper and Princess are crate trained and stay in their crates when left home alone. Their crates are their cozy, safe spaces, and they settle in without any issues. These girls would thrive in a home where they can truly be part of the family — lounging nearby, soaking up love, and enjoying life together. Because of their close bond, it would be a dream come true for them to be adopted together, though the most important thing is finding them a loving, stable home. If you’re looking for loyal companions with gentle hearts and a touching story of resilience, Pepper and Princess may be the perfect match for you. If you are interested in these two girls, please message us and we will send you an application. They are being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road!

Story
Get ready to meet your new best friend—Jager is here to steal your heart and make a splash in your life! He is a 60 lb lab mix with lots of love to give. At 3 years old, this handsome pup has proven to be a loyal companion in his foster home. He’d love to find his forever home where he can show you what a great dog he really is! Though he can still be a little shy when meeting new people, he warms up quickly and thrives when he feels safe and connected. He’s happiest just being near his people — whether that’s helping with yard work, keeping an eye for the intruder squirrels, or cuddling on the couch. Jager is housebroken, great on a leash, and gets along well with other dogs with introduction. Jager is a "ladies dog" he will go straight for the cuddles when he hears a beautiful female voice. But really does love all people once he gets to know you. He will lean into you for cuddles and affection. He does great with other dogs, playing in the yard and enjoys zooming around the outdoor area. A sweet, active, and social boy ready for a second chance! Jager would do best in a home with older children and would love a fenced in yard in his forever home. He absolutely loves the freedom of hanging outside while his family is does yard work or is relaxing. Jager is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit him will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $300.00 which includes all appropriate vaccines, and he is neutered and microchipped. Please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application if you are interested.

Meet Gia – your new best friend in the making! Gia is a 1-year-old female pittie mix with the perfect balance of playful spirit and sweet companionship. She enjoys a good romp around the yard and loves exploring her surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells like the curious girl she is. While she definitely has a fun side, she’s not over-the-top—just the right amount of playful to keep life exciting without wearing you out. Gia thrives when she’s near her people. She can occasionally be a little demanding for attention (she just really loves being loved!), but she settles nicely and shows what a well-behaved, loyal companion she can be. Being close to her humans is her happy place. If you’re looking for a young dog who’s affectionate, moderately playful, and ready to grow alongside you, Gia might just be your perfect match.
