Story
Is this seat taken? My name is Samwise, Sam for short, and I am looking for a warm lap to snooze on. HEALTH NOTICE: My people believe I may have been hit by a car before they found me in the garden. My jaw hurts sometimes so it’s best if my food is softened. I have other symptoms of injuries that didn’t heal correctly. I can be a little clumsy and sometimes I hurt a little, but all that doesn’t slow me down! I just wanted to let you know since it makes me a little different. I’m really just an ordinary kitty. I like to jump up on windowsills and watch the world. I like to scratch so please give me a post or something fun for my claws. I’ll play with fuzzy mice, cardboard boxes, and I love messing up the bathroom mat. I also have an affinity to jump in the shower or tub after you’re done using them. Maybe I want to wash my paws. I’m not particularly shy with people and I’m cautiously curious of new things. But most of all, I want to sit with you. Or on you. I purr the moment you look my way or pat my head. Good with other cats? Probably not. I stayed at another home for a short while and the resident cat and I did not get along too well. Good with dogs? Yes! I like to play with my dog brothers, but I’ll need a dog that can be gentle. Good with kids? I would prefer older kids who will understand that I’ll need gentle handling. I am spayed. I am not declawed. I am up to date on vaccines. I have tested negative for kitty leukemia and HIV/AIDS. Potential adopters with mobility issues beware: I do like to occasionally pounce on the passing foot or run across your path when I’m feeling playful. Due to my health needs, it would be best if I remain an indoor kitty. I live in Salem with my caregiver and my rehoming fee is $100. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the foster parent for follow-ups and meeting arrangement. Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care. We invite you to become a foster parent and experience the great satisfaction of helping a cat or kitten in need.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 19, 2026, 2:27 pm

Story
Wilbur was found with two other similarly aged kittens in the summer of 2021. All were fixed, vaccinated and well cared for. Wilbur must compete with another household cat (one that he grew up with) that continually dominates him. It has been hard on Wilbur, a shy and sweet boy. Wilbur needs a home where he can be the one and only. A quiet home without alarming sounds or fast moving inhabitants (such as kids). When the other cat isn’t around Wilbur comes out of his shell and approaches me carefully, always looking over his shoulder in fear that the other cat is going to push him out of the way, or worse, clobber him. It has been this way for 4 years. When I remove the other cat from the home for a few days at a time, Wilbur comes out to greet people, though gingerly and with an antenna on high alert for the other cat. He will sleep on the bed cuddled up against me on nights that the other cat is outside. He pees on the bed if the other cat comes onto the bed too; i can no longer let the two cats in the bedroom at the same time. Wilbur loves to play with toys and the red light. But he won’t play much when the boss cat is watching. He has had all of his vaccinations, regular vet visits, and is in good health. He is looking for a quiet warm home, he loves to go outside and hang out in the shrubs and among the flowers. He wants to have a human to cuddle with without being dominated by another cat. His owner lives in S alem and the rehoming fee is $00. Wilbut loves to snuggle and is good as a mostly indoor cat with outside privileges.   For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Story
Maverick is our very special sweet boy who deserves all the love in the world!  He's very laid back and will sit with you for hours watching movies and wants to be near you.   Maverick is a speicial needs boy with severe CH (also known as wobbly cat syndrome).   Here is a link where you can find more info on CH:  https://www.thenoahcenter.org/2022/09/28/the-truth-about-ch-cats/ Maverick is about 4 years old and along with having CH, he is missing several teeth and has a front "snaggle tooth"- but is healthy!     He's neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and has had base line bloodwork upon joining the rescue all of which was completely normal.     He does have  tremors that are common with CH and also a pretty severe head bobble - so drinking water is difficult and he eats wet food and sometimes dry kibble mixed in water in raised bowl.     He was raised by a family who loved him very much but just didn't have the time to continue caring for him.   He uses a litter box but because of his severity and wobbles, he needs help getting in and out and will lay down to do his stuff.    He is on a schedule though and will go in the litter box when you put him in the box on a schedule.    Maverick has lived with big dogs and other cats in his foster home, but he mostly loves just being with his person.   If you have had a CH cat previously, then. you know how much love they provide and what a joy they are to care for.    With Maverick's severity level, he does need someone who has experience with CH and is aware of what they require.  If you are interested in Maverick, please provide a few sentences on why you want to adopt Maverick and how you are prepared for him.   ##2000741##
