Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 25th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Meet Miso & Mochi: Tiny Puppies, Huge Personalities   If you've ever dreamed of adding a pocket-sized best friend to your life, Miso and Mochi are here to make that dream come true. These adorable 9-11 week old Chihuahua puppies may be tiny enough to fit in your lap, but their personalities are absolutely larger than life.   When first rescued from the shelter where they'd been dumped, Miso and Mochi were initially unsure about the world around them. New sights, sounds, and experiences felt a little overwhelming, and they needed plenty of comfort and reassurance as they settled into foster care. Fast forward a few weeks, and they've blossomed into happy, playful, confident puppies who approach each day with excitement and curiosity.   Miso: The Professional Snuggler   Miso's favorite place in the world is wherever his people happen to be.   This sweet little boy is a champion cuddler who loves curling up beside you—or even better, directly on top of you—for naps. While he enjoys playing and exploring, Miso is happiest when he can check in for affection and companionship. If you sit down, don't be surprised if he immediately decides your lap is the perfect place for a snooze.   Miso is also incredibly cute in motion. When he first arrived in foster care, he was still figuring out how his tiny body worked and would enthusiastically run up to the couch, jump straight into the air, and land right back on the floor. Even when a step was provided, he remained determined to do things his own way.   Mochi: The Fearless Explorer   Mochi is the adventurer of the pair and rarely misses an opportunity to investigate something new.   Confident, curious, and endlessly entertaining, she's usually the first to try new things and the first to test the boundaries of what is and isn't possible. In fact, her foster family quickly learned that standard puppy fencing was merely a suggestion. Mochi discovered she could climb right over a two-foot enclosure, leading to some creative upgrades to her nighttime setup.   She's also the more energetic of the two and is always ready for another game. If Miso decides it's nap time, Mochi simply recruits someone else—whether it's a resident dog or a nearby human—to continue the fun.   One of her foster family's favorite stories involves her repeatedly trying to convince a much older resident dog to play. Even after receiving several stern warnings, Mochi remained convinced friendship was just one more play invitation away.   Tiny Puppies, Big Adventures   Both puppies spend their days doing what puppies do best: playing, exploring, eating, napping, and repeating the process all over again. They love following their foster family around the house, supervising daily activities, and investigating anything new that appears within reach.   They're also big fans of backyard sunbathing. Give them a warm patch of sunshine and a human nearby, and they're perfectly content to stretch out and soak up the day.   Both puppies are currently learning their potty manners and are already using potty pads successfully most of the time. Like all young puppies, they'll continue to need patience, consistency, and positive training as they grow.   Social and Sweet   Miso and Mochi currently live with two small resident dogs and absolutely love having canine companions around. They enjoy playing, following the older dogs through the house and yard, and learning from their furry role models.   Because they're still very young, they naturally enjoy companionship and social interaction. They thrive when they have people and activities around them and are excited to become part of a family's daily life.   Puppy Notes   As expected for growing puppies, both Miso and Mochi are currently teething and enjoy chewing. They are curious little explorers who like to investigate the world with their mouths, so plenty of appropriate chew toys will help keep them occupied.   They aren't big barkers, but they may alert to unfamiliar sights or sounds before deciding everything is perfectly fine.   And one important note: never underestimate these tiny pups when food is involved. If there's a snack within reach, they'll find it.   Why You'll Love Them   Miso and Mochi have that magical combination of sweetness, confidence, intelligence, and puppy charm that makes people fall in love instantly. Whether it's Miso curling up for a cuddle, Mochi embarking on her next adventure, or both of them racing around the yard before collapsing together for a nap, they bring joy everywhere they go.   These little pups are ready to trade their foster home for forever families who will continue helping them learn, grow, and experience all the wonderful things puppyhood has to offer.   One look into those tiny faces, and you'll understand why everyone who meets them falls completely in love. July 20, 2026, 3:31 am

Meet Bikini! Bikini (6 lbs) is a 3 month old Chi-weenie pup expected to stay under 15 pounds fully grown. Her small size makes her perfect for everything from neighborhood coffee runs to cross-country adventures — she's even an excellent candidate for a future flying companion. Her littermates have all found their forever families. Now it's Bikini's turn. Sunshine, Flip-Flops & Endless Summer Bikini lives life like she's permanently on summer vacation. If she were a person, she'd already have sunscreen on, a beach towel under one arm, and she'd convince complete strangers to play volleyball within five minutes of arriving. She's never met a backyard she didn't believe needed investigating. Bushes? Must inspect. Flower pots? Probably hiding treasure. That one corner nobody has looked at today? Clearly suspicious. And after exploring absolutely everything, she's the first to announce, 'Well... I've had enough excitement for today,' and trot into her crate for a nap. She has mastered the art of balancing adventure with self-care. Her Lifeguard Deserves a Raise Whoever adopts Bikini gets a huge head start — her foster family has already put in weeks of training. She knows what 'Go Potty' means and races outside like a little professional because a reward is waiting. She's been accident-free thanks to an excellent routine. Crate training is going beautifully too. When she hears 'All Done,' she runs into her crate, settles quietly, and waits for her reward before drifting off. Her crate is covered with a light sheet, and she sleeps soundly through the night. Little Dog. Big Manners. Bikini is eager to learn, understands routines, and loves earning rewards. Despite teething, she hasn't shown any interest in chewing shoes — even when they're left right beside her toys. She's done wonderfully meeting larger dogs and greets new people with a wagging tail and plenty of kisses. After 20-30 minutes of tug-of-war and toy-dragging, expect complete system shutdown: you'll find her asleep in the tiniest bed imaginable, folded up like a fuzzy pool towel left out in the sun. Who Will Love Her? A family with another playful dog would be wonderful — she loves canine companionship. A first-time owner would also be a great match since so much early training is already done. She's small enough to travel easily, adventurous enough for weekend outings, and affectionate enough to become a professional couch snuggler after a busy day. Cannonball Into Forever Summer doesn't last forever. Neither do puppies. The only thing missing from Bikini's perfect summer? A family to call her own. Because bringing home Bikini is less like adopting a puppy... ...and more like extending summer for the next 15 years. July 20, 2026, 3:31 am

Meet Sprint, the Last of the Run Puppies If you're looking for a puppy that will make you smile every single day, Sprint is ready to race straight into your heart. This tiny Chihuahua mix is approximately 3 months old, a whopping 4.9 lbs and packed with personality, charm, and just the right amount of puppy mischief. His sisters Rally and Bolt have already sprinted off to their forever homes, which means Sprint is the last little speedster left — and at the pace this litter is going, he won't be waiting at the starting line for long. One thing that makes Sprint special? He's surprisingly easy! He sleeps quietly through the night without a peep, happily follows his foster outside for potty breaks and playtime, and is already doing a great job using pee pads and learning to potty outdoors. For a young puppy, he's about as 'easy peasy' as they come. During the day, Sprint loves exploring the yard, playing with toys, and trying his very best to convince the resident Labradoodle to be his friend. His determination is absolutely adorable — he'll army crawl across the yard to reach him, only to be met with complete indifference. Luckily, this little comedian doesn't give up easily. Meet Sprint As his name suggests, Sprint is the athlete of the group. He's energetic, playful, curious, and always ready for the next adventure. Sprint embodies everything people love about puppies — fun-loving, goofy, and full of enthusiasm. He keeps everyone laughing and turns even the simplest moments into entertainment. The Perfect Home Sprint would love a home that appreciates the fun, spunky personality typical of small Chihuahua-mix pups. He would likely do well with other dog-friendly dogs, as he's confident, social, and eager to make friends. Like all puppies, he'll benefit from continued training, socialization, and plenty of toys for his teething needs. Most of all, he'll thrive with a family that's ready to embrace puppyhood — the laughter, the silliness, and the endless supply of adorable moments. Sprint is ready to start his own adventure with a forever family. Warning: side effects of adopting a Run Puppy may include frequent laughter, an unusually full camera roll, and a permanent smile. July 20, 2026, 3:31 am
