All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 9th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption fee: $500 Shell is a tiny 2 year old Chi mix who weighs 7 lbs. She was abandoned at a gas station with her friend Citgo (M) and two puppies (we presume she was their mom). She was quite nervous when she first arrived, and our intake team gave her some time to settle in and decompress. We sent her off to a calm and quiet foster home, and within a couple of days, she really came around and bonded to her foster, but adopters should know it will take some patience and time and it is important to give her space as she adjusts to a new place. Here is her foster's report: Shell was very nervous and anxious when first arriving at my home, but within a few days, she really came around. She is a cuddler/snuggler now and will follow me throughout the home. She is a velcro dog and very alert to when I leave a room. She will also “come” to me when requested. Shell wakes up in the morning and heads out through the doggy door to go to the bathroom before coming inside for breakfast. Shell is fully house trained. After breakfast, she spends some time napping while I work. Her favorite nap spot is either on our laps or at our feet. Shell LOVES going on walks, it is her favorite time of the day. She always does a cute little dance when we take the leash out. On walks, she minds her own business, content to smell the world around her. When we get home, she naps and plays with our dog until dinner time. After dinner, she gets another walk before heading to bed. Shell is a total velcro dog in the best way. Those who are looking for a constant cuddle companion should look no further than Shell. Once she settles in to your life, she will be your loyal companion forever.
