Story
Ben and Jerry were found wandering the streets in Midway City by a kind gentleman who corralled them and brought them to AALOC. They are brothers and are completely bonded so they cannot be separated. If you are looking for a pair of dogs as an addition to your family, Ben and Jerry would be just the right double scoop of love. Ben and Jerry are very young Dachshund mix dogs, full of life and affection. They are small in size, about 15 pounds each, and they love to walk and play together. They are housebroken and play well with other dogs. Overall they are very well-behaved young dogs available for adoption by a loving family. Please submit an application to adopt Ben and Jerry at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Ben and Jerry and get to know them a bit. Donation of $165 per dog adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit (in Orange County, CA). For more information on adoption policies visit our homepage at www.aaloc.org. Contact us by e-mail: aaloc@aaloc.org, or by phone (714)893-4393.

Story
Raffi was living a lonely life on the streets and was so scared when he was rescued by Hope For Paws Rescue. They chased him for quite some time before they were finally able to catch him. We teamed up with Hope For Paws to help find Raffi his forever home. Raffi is shy with people he does not know but warms up once he gets to know you and feels safe. It does take him time to come out of his shell so he will need someone who is patient. He has limited hearing but he can hear louder sounds. He will need an experienced owner as he needs guidance and someone to build his confidence. Raffi loves other dogs and he will need a home with another confident dog that he can watch and learn from. He is good with cats too. He will need a calm household where he is not left for long hours and no young children but calm older children are okay. Raffi loves to go on walks and rides well in the car. Raffi is about 8-9 years old and weighs 9 pounds. In September 2021, Raffi was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur caused by early stage mitral valve disease. He was seen by a cardiologist in late September 2021 and again in for a recheck in June 2022 where he got an echocardiogram. He does not need any medication or treatment at this time but will need annual check-ups with a cardiologist to monitor his heart. Raffi is also fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, flea/heartworm treated. And Raffi just had a full vet exam, senior blood panel with thyroid test, urinalysis, heartworm test, fecal test, dental cleaning, mouth x-rays and chest x-rays in September 2022 so he should not need any vetting at this time. If you are serious about adopting Raffi and have a vet near you willing to work with our rescue, we will cover his vetting and cardiology. Or you can take him to our vet in the Los Angeles area for his vetting and cardiology needs.

Story
The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    ***Courtesy Post*** How can you resist this short chunky guy!! Tron is a 7 year old male (neutered) pitbull/dachshund mix black/white. Tron is good with kids, dogs and cats. Tron is a friendly and playful dog he enjoys a good back scratch and sitting in the pool and occasionally taking a swim on the hot days. He is active when he wants to play if not he is ok with just lounging around. He enjoys going for walks and exploring new sceneries. He will go for hikes, but tends to get tired after a few miles due to his shorter legs. He enjoys hard to chew toys since the softer ones he will take apart easily. Tron is also kennel trained and is very alert when someone walks to the front door.Tron is looking for an amazing forever home! We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day.  Please visit our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    July 25, 2024, 12:11 pm

Story
Note: This is a courtesy listing for a private individual. The best method of contact for a quick response is text to Jean at 714-803-0154. Lenny is a sturdy and adorable doxie mix. His mix is anyone's guess but we think border terrier, he definitely has the dachshund body, legs & feet. His coat is coarser and thicker than a smooth-coated doxie, though - more like a terrier's. And he has the most adorable soft white mohawk! Lenny was just a puppy when he was given to a child without the parents' consent. Lenny's family had him vaccinated, microchipped, and house trained, and taught him to walk on a leash. Then the child quit following the rules that were a condition for keeping the puppy, and Lenny suffered the consequences - being relegated to the backyard or the garage. A relative eventually pulled him from that situation and SCDR agreed to help find him a home where he can enjoy his young life again! At his foster mom's house, Lenny quickly re-learned how to be "polite when indoors. He's a smart little guy who catches on quickly. He wants to do things right and be worthy of his people's love and affection - he will definitely return it many-fold! Lenny enjoys spending time with his people. He gets along well with humans of all ages. He would be happy as an only child if his time spent alone was limited. A doggie companion of similar size or smaller would also be ok with Lenny, but Lenny would need to be the boss! He will sometimes cuddle with his foster mom's older chihuahuas and other mini doxies, or just lays quietly nearby, ready for action when it happens! Lenny likes sleeping on the big bed, though not necessarily under the covers. He loves his food, and everyone else's. His foster mom is successfully working on his food aggression, but thinks that he will probably always need to be isolated from other dog's food at meal time. Lenny has not shown any other aggressions. Lenny is healthy, neutered and his vaccinations are up to date. He reliably uses the doggie door for his potty needs and has not been caught "marking indoors at his foster home! He is not a big-time barker, is sturdy enough for stairs, and does well on car rides. Lenny is not cat-safe.
