Story
Mr. Peabody is an 8 year old, 12 lb. cubby little dude. He came from a high kill shelter where his amazingly sweet and loving personality made him a crowd favorite with the staff. He needed out as no one was willing to give him a home. This sweet boy walks very well on leash and loves attention. He will make an amazing companion for someone who enjoys walks and having a snuggle companion to hang out with.  As always, we do highly recommend positive reinforcement training to insure a well behaved and well-rounded puppy/dog. The adoption fee is $400 which includes: spay/neuter, microchipping with registration, up to date on vaccines, rabies vaccine (for dogs and pups over 4 months at time of alter), deworming, and topical flea treatment application (as needed). If interested in one if our dogs or puppies, please email pardonmeinc@yahoo.com for information and adoption questionnaire. Our animals can be seen by appointment only after approved application process. Please email to make sure the animal you are interested in is still available and/or will be attending or on-site adoption event. Story
Georgie is around 5-6 years old and weighs 13 pounds. He has the most adorable curly tail! He was abandoned at the home of a family who is known for taking in unwanted dogs in Colton. They surrendered him to us to find him a forever home. He is quiet and low-maintenance once settled in. He is pretty independent as well. He seems more feline than canine in nature. He has a medium energy level and is not hyper. He does not require a yard, though if he does have a yard or patio, it must be secure for him (no holes or gaps for him to slip out of). He is a timid dog and would do best in a calm home with NO CHILDREN OR VISITORS. He needs an adopter that will understand that Georgie would not do best interacting with people he does not know. He will bark and move away from strangers; he does not want to be pet by strangers. He is sociable and friendly with other small/medium-sized dogs, male or female. He is intimidated by big doggies though and would not be the best match for a household that has a big dog. He would not be suitable for dog parks/beaches due to the higher stress levels and unpredictability of the other dogs or people there. Georgie enjoys the company of humans, but similar to some cats, he does enjoy his independence. He is sweet, though not outwardly affectionate, with his family. Nevertheless, he will require a PATIENT adopter who is willing to let him adjust at his own pace without expecting too much from him too soon. His adopters must be willing to give him space and have patience not to smother him with affection/attention or try to pick him up when he is not ready yet. He would not be a good candidate for inexperienced adopters. He is crate-trained and knows how to use a doggy door. For more information about Georgie, please give his foster mom, Lydia, a call at 714-357-8405. His adoption fee is $225 and covers the cost of his neuter, all core vaccines (Rabies and Distemper/Parvo), microchip and microchip registration. If you’d like to be considered for adoption, the first step is completing an application which is available on our website, poochmatch.com, under the adoption tab. Please read the below paragraphs for more information on our process. If this listing is still posted, we are still accepting applications for him/her. We do not do out-of-state adoptions on highly adoptable dogs; we would only consider out-of-state adoptions for dogs that prove hard-to-place locally. We cannot hold dogs, please submit your application when you are ready to adopt. UPDATE: ADOPTION EVENTS CANCELLED DUE TO PANDEMIC AND SOCIAL DISTANCING. If you are interested in meeting any Poochmatch dog at our weekly adoption event on Saturdays at the Petsmart in Yorba Linda, CA (5521 Mirage St.) between 1-5 PM, please fill out an application from our website, poochmatch.com, and submit it no later than 11 AM on Fridays. Upon receipt AND approval, the dog you are interested in meeting will be made available to meet on a Saturday. Due to the high volume of dogs and puppies in our foster homes, it is impossible to bring them all every Saturday. The only way to ensure that the dog that you are interested in will be at the adoption event is to FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AND BE APPROVED. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the dog you are interested in will be at our adoption event. If you cannot make the time frame of our events, appointments can be made at another time and location solely at the discretion of the foster parent. Please understand that private appointments will be coordinated to meet the convenience of the foster parent/transporter. We cannot hold dogs, please submit your application when you are ready to adopt. All adoption fees cover the mandatory and non-negotiable spay/neuter, rabies, microchip, microchip registration, full sets of core vaccinations (rabies and 1 set of distemper/parvo for adults, 4 for puppies) and deworming. Adoption fees vary based on age, breed, size and the costs incurred on the dog's behalf by us i.e. medical, behavioral training, etc. and they range from $225-$495. COVID-19 PROCEDURE: In an effort to create a safe environment for our potential adopters and our staff, we have changed our protocols and procedures during these difficult times. Starting immediately, our procedures will change from what’s written on our website and other social media platforms. Our weekly adoption event at the Petsmart in Yorba Linda is temporarily cancelled due to COVID-19 and social distancing. The only way to meet one of the dogs/puppies we have available for adoption is through completion of our adoption application through our website, poochmatch.com, before 11 AM on Fridays. On Fridays when we review the applications, we will pick the best fit for each dog or puppy applied for and coordinate mutually agreeable appointment times for the applicants who are approved that week. Private appointments are currently only scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday of each week. Masks or bandanas are mandatory; faces must be properly covered. With the overwhelming desire of the public to adopt at this time, we have received as many as 30 applications for one dog in just one week. Working with a staff of volunteers, we are only able to reach out on Fridays to the people we have approved to adopt. If you have not heard from us by Friday, we have selected a different applicant. If you have multiple dogs/puppies that you are interested in, please indicate each dog/puppy of interest on the application at that time so we don’t rule you out for another dog/puppy available for adoption. Please understand, we have an influx of texts, phone calls and emails that makes it impossible to get to each and every one of you. Not just for adoption interest, but also from veterinarians, people who must relinquish dogs, people who have found a stray dog in need of pick up, etc. We are currently not in need of fosters. Due to the fact that there is such a high demand, we are sticking with strict protocol to not adopt out of Southern California. We apologize for this inconvenience and difficulty to be able to get in touch with us while there is an overwhelming desire and demand to adopt at this time. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate through these difficult times with every intention to keep the public and our staff safe.
