Story
Hi I'm Deputy Chonk and I am a dream!! A low, long, chonky dream! I am around 6-7 years old and on a diet to get to my goal weight of 30 lbs *currently around 35 lbs I am GREAT with dogs, cat and kids! I LOVE EVERYONE! I am crate trained and house broken. No separation anxiety. Just an all around super duper great guy! Can't wait to meet you! *please note All of our dogs are in private foster homes. Once you fill out an application it will be screened by our volunteer adoption team. From there, if your application looks like a good fit for the particular dog, it will be sent to the foster where you can ask all the questions you would like and schedule a meet and greet. Story
From experience, Brimsley needs to be in a one person home.  Other dogs are okay.   This is the youngest 12 year old senior you will ever meet.  He loves to play with his foster brother, with his squeaky toys and go for walks. He likes spending time with me, but Tbone (his foster Dachshund brother) is a close second.   Pros: House broken Knew instantly how to use a doggie door and uses it to go outside and hang out Very good walking on a leash Does not get on furniture sleeps in his crate Sweet and adorable!     Cons: is fine if I leave and Tbone is home, but if I am walking Tbone, Brimsley will sit by the door and cry., Not much of a barker, but if he hears it on TV and/or sees the dog next door he will bark.   Watch when you walk, he is always very close! He does not like larger dogs. Brimsley needs a home with a yard that he can explore.   Needs a calm, quiet environment.  Right now he is with his female foster, and one other Dachshund.  Brimsley just wants a stress free place to enjoy his senior years. If you are interested in adopting Brimsley, please fill out an adoption application at our website:  www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.com You will need to travel to Las Vegas to pick him up if approved.November 28, 2023, 11:50 pm

Story
Miss Mia is a plus 10 year old piebald mini dachshund. She is the most laid back, happy senior dog you'll meet. She came in needing a lot of dental care. After 16 extractions and antibiotics, she's doing so much better and her little personality is coming out.    She is mostly deaf and has cloudy vision, but that doesn't stop her at all! She jumps and bounces for her breakfast and dinner. She runs to the door to go out to potty, she follows the other little dogs everywhere and we do recommend she go to a home that has another small dog as with her senior age as she needs a fur companion to help her.    She is very good at going potty outdoors and she LOVES laying in the warm sunshine. She also loves soft beds and most times when foster mum can't find her, she has burrowed under a blanket she has on one of her beds.    Gently touch her and she'll follow you wherever. She is a very easy dog, she has started to show the want to play with other dachshunds and will roll around and rub her face and body on the carpet.    As a senior, she likes to sleep a lot and she go for little walks. She is a little wobbly on her hind end, but not bad. We think she might be an allergy dog, as she does lick a lot, and it stains her fur. A gentle touch or wave of the hand near her and she'll stop each time, which helps interrupt her from doing it.    All in all, Mia is a good little senior that just wants to be loved. She loves her head pet and scratches behind her ears. She's not a big time cuddle dog but, will if you help her up, she'll lay next to you and snooze away. She cannot jump up to the bed nor couch/recliner nor off, but this is not recommended for Dachshunds anyway.   If you are interested in adopting Mia please complete an adoption application on our website to be pre-approved:  www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.com.  November 28, 2023, 11:50 pm

Story
Scooter is a handsome black and white Dachshund mix.  He's about 2 years old, and approx. 14 pounds.  He's pretty small. He's working on his potty training.  Playful with other dogs.  Don't know about cats.  No young children.  Would be fine with older, considerate kids. Scooter loves to sleep in the big bed.  Up to date on all vaccinations. Scooter does bark loudly, and would not be a good fit for apartments or condos.  The neighbors would not be happy.  So...a home with a yard is what this beautiful boy needs. If you're interested in adopting Scooter, please complete an adoption application on our website to be pre-approved.  You would have to travel to Las Vegas to get him. www.dachshundrescueoflosangeles.comNovember 28, 2023, 11:50 pm

Story
Ricky is ready for adoption!!! This little boy is almost 7 months old and just finished recovering from his neuter so he is ready for his forever home! Ricky is quite the little character. He is full of energy and affection and wants nothing more than to play and cuddle. He is great with other dogs.  Amazing in fact, and will not be aggressive no matter the circumstances. Ricky has regressed a little since his neuter and needs to be taken out frequently to avoid accidents, but he is capable of telling you he needs to go out if you pay attention. This is common right after a neuter since the testosterone levels drop so quickly. He hasn't been fully cat tested. He has been around them and hasn't tried to attack, but hasn't had much opportunity. Most likely he is scared of cats.  Poor kid has some major separation anxiety. Ricky needs a home where someone is home all the time and can work with Ricky on this issue, which with the right effort and attention he should outgrow.   NOT A GOOD FIT FOR APARTMENT OR CONDO Ricky will cry, bark, and nervous poop if he is left alone. He does not do well in a kennel when left alone and will scrape his nose on the metal. He will do best in a home with other dogs that want to play with him.  Ricky is up to date on shots, microchipped, neutered, and has had a recent nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning. Again, it is crucial that Ricky go to a patient home that will work with him on his anxiety. He is also a very long dog and will need a home with someone savvy to avoiding back injuries (IVDD). Ricky is probably 11lbs now, but may likely be a tweenie when full grown, so potentially 15-18lbs. It is really hard to say, but an adopter would need to be prepared for that possibility. Apply today if you are interested in little Ricky. He is being fostered in Utah, and if approved, you would have to travel to Utah to pick him up. https://dachshundrescueofutah.com/forms/drut-adoption-form/ November 28, 2023, 11:50 pm
