For those who are up to a challenge, we are looking for an experienced foster/adopter who can help Hopper. Hopper is a special little guy who needs someone who can work with him and his issues. He has triggers that have lead to bites. He needs help working with someone who knows how to retrain his brain. Hopper is a quirky little guy who does love people, especially when they understand his quirks. Hopper is trustful of the person who cares for him and loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. He needs a person to understand his boundaries and that he gives love on his terms. He loves to run at full speed into rooms to greet everyone there. He is very food motivated. He does not like to be picked up and has a dislike of harnesses. He's getting better with allowing harnesses but needs more work on being desensitized to them. He needs someone who understands and accepts that he does not like being picked up, which is not really necessary. He's learned to use stairs to get up on the couch to sit next to you. At night, he's good in a kennel or on a dog bed. Hopper is good with other dogs who are his size. He's not too welcoming of bigger dogs but tolerates them to a point. He can be food protective so no trying to take away his bowl once he's eating (who would do that anyway?). Hopper is neutered, vaccinated and house trained (might mark in the beginning like most male dogs do). Please contact us if you can help Hopper. We’re flabbergasted. Is it the holiday chaos or everyone’s traveling that’s got Oscar flying under the radar? One thing’s for sure, this charming little dude deserves some serious love. Oscar Everyone who lays eyes on Oscar can’t help but gush over his chiseled features and soulful peepers. This 17-lb, 4-5 year old neutered male “Chiweenie” mix was picked up as a stray and spent a month in the shelter before making his way to GLAR. Initially, he was terrified in the shelter and took some time to warm up in his foster home. But once he shed his fears, his personality started shining brighter than a diamond. His foster discovered that while Oscar may not be thrilled about new people touching his head, he’s a total softie when it comes to chest and neck pets – and he’ll even guide your hand to his favorite spots. This little foodie is all about the snacks, and his love for grub makes him super receptive to learning new tricks. Oscar gets along swimmingly with other dogs, but he’s a bit of a diva and likes being the center of attention, so he might be happiest in a home without another furry friend. He’s untested around cats or kiddos. Men can be a bit intimidating for him at first, but with some patience, he’ll learn to love them too. Oscar sleeps like a rock in his crate, enjoys leisurely strolls on a leash, sprinting around the backyard, chow time, and plenty of snoozes. He’s a bit of a homebody and prefers to potty outside, but on rainy days, he’s happy to use a pad inside. As a recently neutered adult male, he still has some of that marking instinct, so his foster keeps a belly band on him for now. We’re on the hunt for a small, quiet household for Oscar. During his shelter stint, his head movements raised some eyebrows. After getting a clean bill of health, he paid a visit to UC Davis for a neurology consult. The vets think he might have a congenital issue that can’t be treated with meds, but that doesn’t mean he can’t live life to the fullest. He’s also got some impaired hearing in the lower ranges. When Oscar gets anxious or super excited, his quirks become more apparent, but overall, he’s a happy-go-lucky pup with tons of love to give. Reaching out in hope you would be able to assist rehoming two cute pups! We’re trying to help a close friend who is very sad to have to rehome her pups…we’re currently at our max with pets or we’d take them. The white pup is Sadie (super sweet), the black one is Molly (sweet too, the leader of the pack), and they are a bonded pair who are 5 years old. They weigh about 20 lbs each and are both Weiner dog mixes. They’re potty trained, walk on leash, like to play with small toys, love to cuddle up on the sofa, and watch movies. When their current Mom must work outside the home a few times a week, they stay in the primary bedroom (like a large crate to them), cuddling up on the bed and looking out the window. They unfortunately have not been spayed, but we will cover the cost of the procedure and any care needs (food, etc.) or donate to your rescue until they’re able to find their next loving family. They need a new home this week

Foster, foster to adopt, or adopt Lincoln! Lincoln is a super sweet, loveable, 21 lb goofball. He was in very rough shape when he entered the shelter in Central California - for the second time in November (no fault of his own!!), and due to being a staff favorite, fortunately made his way out of the shelter system quickly and found himself at the REAL Bark rescue. After being in a loving foster for a few months, Lincoln has shown us what a wonderful boy he is, and at the still youthful age of 10, is full of life, love and excitement about the world. He is very food motivated, and gets extra excited around mealtimes, puzzle toys, a good bone, and happily joins in multiple short walks during the day. He loves getting cuddles + pets, and loves a good snooze. He’s overall just a really sweet boy and loves all people and dogs. He has some standard senior maintenance needs and his foster has built a wonderful manual to help his forever home maintain his comfort. He is ready to find that third forever home (3 is a charm!) to take him through his wonderful Golden years, where he will give back so much love to his people. We love seniors - they are the best, the wisest, and the loveliest and Lincoln is all of that! Please note that we are currently set up to adopt within the Los Angeles county area.
