Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Choco was a “Found” dog back in August 2024. The person who found him was unable to keep him, so he was relinquished to a southern California rescue organization. Choco is a chiweenie, or possibly a min-pin dachshund mix. The ears and longer legs are the give-away to his heritage, but he also has distinctive dachshund features. He came to us underweight but with a healthy appetite, and has had no trouble reaching his ideal weight! Choco is happy, affectionate and playful, will ask for hugs and belly rubs. However, he also loves wrestle-mania and tug-of-war with his foster brothers and sisters, both smaller and (slightly) larger, and doesn’t seem to care who wins! He has learned how to play multi-dog chuck-it in his foster mom’s backyard … and has become quite good at grabbing a flying ball out of another’s grasp! Choco loves being the “lead engine” when he entices his brothers and sisters to join his “zoomie train!” But he is gentle, too – he does not get aggressive at all during play. Choco’s ideal household would include a like-sized energetic dog, or an active family who will not leave him alone for long periods of time. Choco walks well on a leash, and likes to ride in the car. He sleeps quietly through the night in the big bed, next to his mom! His house training is reliable if he has access to a dog door and a very secure yard. Charlie has been exposed to cats and bunnies at his foster mom’s house, but they live in separate areas. While he has shown interest without aggression, we cannot be certain about face-to-face. Choco’s vaccines are up-to-date. He’s neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in Choco, please contact Jean at 714-803-0154 or email jshill828@gmail.com. An adoption application and home check are required. The tax deductible donation for Choco is $500.00

Story
Chicken found himself alone and abandoned in the Salvation Army parking lot. A kind citizen took him in and did the right thing by checking for a microchip (none found) reporting him to animal control so the rightful owner might be found (none found). Animal Control kindly asks that good samaritans hold the dog as they are full. This is a story that repeats itself over and over again in rescue. Chicken has received a vaccine and a vet check and our rescue will help to find him a forever home. He is a sweet guy that is good with people and other dogs. For more information or to meet Chicken please text 262-902-3376

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Trudy was posted on NextDoor as needing a new home for some reason or another. A nice young woman adopted Trudy as a companion to her two like-sized poodle mixes. However, apparently Trudy started picking on one of the dogs, so the young woman re-posted Trudy, and she came to be fostered by Jean Hill in Riverside. The best guess of various rescue co-ordinators is that Trudy is a pug-chihuahua mix, commonly called a “chug.” She is short and “dense” like a pug, weighing in at about 17 lbs, but has the happy look of a chihuahua. She loves to eat, and isn’t real picky about what’s in her bowl! Trudy is happy, affectionate and playful. She loves people and will ask for hugs and belly rubs. However, she also loves a bit of wrestle-mania with her like-aged foster brothers and sisters, both smaller and (slightly) larger, and doesn’t seem to care who wins! Trudy hasn’t shown persistent “bullying” behavior as had been previously reported. She will occasionally pick on a smaller dog, but a stern “no” spoken just once or twice corrects the behavior. Trudy has limited vision in one of her eyes, possibly due to an old injury, but it does not bother her at all, and there is no discharge. She walks well on a leash, and likes to ride in the car. She likes to sleep in one of the many open crates at her foster mom’s house, but isn’t picky about which one. She sleeps quietly through the night. Her house training is reliable if she has access to a dog door and a secure yard. Trudy has been exposed to cats and bunnies at her foster mom’s house, but they live in separate areas. While she has shown interest without aggression, we cannot be certain about face-to-face. Trudy’s vaccines are up-to-date. She’s spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in Trudy, please contact Jean at jshill828@gmail.com, or 714-803-0154 (text is best). An adoption application and home check are required.

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Tippy was found as a puppy in a dumpster. The family’s young daughter wanted to keep her, and the family agreed if the little pup stayed in the daughter’s room. Tippy’s first year of life was spent in a crate with occasional play time with her girl. Tippy also taught herself to play by herself, and had fun tossing a toy around! When the family moved about a year later, Tippy was relinquished to a Riverside rescue group and is being fostered by an SCDR volunteer. As you can see, Tippy is a chiweenie. The ears are the give-away to her heritage, but she also has the dachshund’s longer body and shorter legs. When Tippy entered foster, she was scared and hung out in a large open crate. However, another young foster enticed Tippy out of the crate where she learned to enjoy the company of her similarly-sized foster brothers and sisters and the love and affection of her foster mom. She has even learned that you don’t use teeth when playing! Tippy is very happy, affectionate and playful. She loves hugs and belly rubs from her humans as much as wrestle-mania and tug-of-war with her like-sized and aged foster brothers and sisters. She enjoys following her foster mom around the yard, and sticks close when the other dogs are playing a wild game of chuck-it. However, Tippy enjoys being part of a “zoomie train,” and she is very fast! Tippy walks well on a leash, and likes to ride in the car. At her foster mom’s, Tippy sleeps next to her mom (or on her) in the big bed. She sleeps quietly through the night. Her house training is reliable if she has access to a dog door, and isn’t too busy playing to get to it! Tippy has been exposed to cats and bunnies at her foster mom’s house, but they live in separate areas. While she has shown interest without aggression, we cannot be certain about face-to-face. Ideal applicants will need the following qualifications: • Someone with active puppy experience who is not gone from home for long periods of time. • Someone who is active enough to take Tippy for walks on a daily basis, and allow her to explore a bit. • A like-sized and energetic doggie companion who will oblige Tippy’s almost non-stop playfulness. • Be between 30 and 66, please. We will consider families with teenage children. Tippy’s vaccines are up-to-date. She’s spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in Tippy, please contact Jean (text preferred) at 714-803-0154 or email jshill828@gmail.com. An adoption application and home check are required.
