Story
M - 7 years old - Terrier Mix -
Koa found himself back at the shelter through no fault of his own after his previous family no longer had enough time to give him the active life he deserved. Now he's looking for a home that's ready to embrace his playful spirit, keep him engaged, and give him all the belly rubs his heart desires.
With his gorgeous coat, expressive eyes, and endlessly happy personality, Koa has a way of making people smile the moment they meet him. He's outgoing, playful, and absolutely loves being around people. Whether he's greeting visitors, soaking up attention, or rolling onto his back for belly rubs, Koa is happiest when he's part of the action.
Don't expect a couch potato, though! Koa is an eager little guy who loves to stay busy. His favorite squeaky toys are always a hit, and if there's another dog nearby who wants to play, he's all ears. In his previous home, he became so determined to make friends with the neighbor's dog that he scratched and dug at the fence trying to get to them. He's just an enthusiastic social butterfly who desperately wanted a playmate. Because of that, Koa would love a family that can give him regular walks, playtime, and appropriate outlets for all that energy.
Koa has lived with children ranging from 4 to 14 years old and was described as friendly and tolerant, although his excitement sometimes gets the better of him and he'll jump up to say hello. He has also lived successfully with another dog and enjoys canine companionship. Around food, he'll appreciate being allowed to enjoy his meals without interruptions from other dogs.
One thing to keep in mind is that Koa can be a little sensitive about his back legs and may move away if they're handled. Otherwise, he's an affectionate, people-loving boy who simply wants to have fun and be included.
If you're searching for a happy-go-lucky companion with a big personality packed into a small body, Koa is ready to make every day a little more fun.
