Story
This is Tiga. We’ve had her since October 11, 2022, around the time of Hurricane Ian, when we rescued her. We paid $200 for her, and we believe she was around one year old when we got her, so she should now be about 4/5 years old. She’s a Boxer mix, though we’re not exactly sure what she’s mixed with. Tiga is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She loves playing with people, is very affectionate, and has such a kind personality. She gets along well with other animals and is used to being around dogs, chickens, and turtles. She does like to chase cats, but she has never harmed one. I have a cat myself, and although she chases it sometimes, she’s never aggressive or hurtful in any way. She is vaccinated, fixed/spayed, collar and chain trained, and has never harmed anyone or anything. The reason I’m making this post is because I can no longer afford to properly care for her. I’m currently working a job that doesn’t pay enough and I’m going to enlist.

NAME:  Willow BREED:  Schnauzer mix SEX:  female COLOR:  black/white AGE:  2 yrs as of Aug 2026 WEIGHT:  14.5 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Willow!  Willow is a 2-year-old, 14.5-pound girl who appears to be a Schnauzer mix, although as with so many rescue dogs, her family tree is anybody’s guess! What we already know is that Willow is a friendly girl who enjoys people and has plenty of personality packed into her scruffy little package. Willow loves to run and play and would enjoy a family that gives her opportunities to get out, stretch her legs, and have some fun. She also rides well in the car, so if your idea of a good day includes bringing your canine sidekick along for the adventure, Willow is happy to call shotgun.  She’s also a very smart girl, and luckily for her future family, she LOVES treats. That combination should make her a fun and eager student. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and the right snacks, we think Willow will catch on to new things pretty quickly. When it comes to other dogs, Willow is a little more particular. She can be selective about her canine friends and has a bit of a bossy streak, so she isn’t necessarily looking to join a home where every dog wants to be in charge. Any potential canine roommates will need to be a good personality match. Willow likes her people. She likes her fun. She REALLY likes her treats. And she reserves the right to choose her own friends.  Because Willow is still new to Canine Castaways, we’re continuing to learn about her. We haven’t discovered all of her favorite things, funny quirks, or exactly what her perfect forever home looks like just yet. What we do know is that she’s a fun, active, intelligent little girl who enjoys people, loves to run and play, travels like a champ, and has enough confidence to let you know what she thinks. If you’re looking for a scruffy little sidekick with brains, personality, and an adventurous streak, Willow might be your girl.     If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this dog... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Heartworm Tested - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Urinalysis - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on Flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $300 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this dog including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption. NAME:   Jack BREED:  Toy Fox Terrier mix SEX:   male COLOR:   Tri-color AGE:  8 months as of Aug 2026 WEIGHT:   12 lbs as of Aug 2026 LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME:  Meet Jack!  Jack is a 7-month-old, neutered male weighing 9.3 pounds (as of 8/20/26) and this little guy comes with two distinct settings: stranger danger and best friend. When Jack first meets someone new, he can be shy and unsure. He needs a little time to figure out that you mean him no harm. Once you hold him, give him some gentle pets, and earn his approval, that worried little puppy starts to relax and the real Jack begins to appear. And the real Jack LOVES to play! Jack is an active youngster who plays very well with other dogs, including dogs much bigger than he is. He can be a bit of a rough-and-tumble player, so hed love a canine buddy who enjoys his enthusiastic style. An active family or a playful dog companion would be an ideal match for him. Toys are always welcome, and a good bone to chew can keep Jack happily occupied. He's also comfortable in his crate, is mostly house-trained, and is doing well learning the routines of home life. Leash walking is still on his puppy résumé under skills currently in development, so his new family will need to continue working with him. After all that playing, Jack has another side. He loves his pre-bedtime snuggles.  Once the days adventures are over, this busy little boy is happy to settle in close and soak up some affection before calling it a night. Jack is still young and has plenty left to learn, but he's already showing us what a wonderful companion he can become. He needs a family that will give him confidence when he's unsure, guidance while he's learning, plenty of opportunities to burn off that puppy energy, and lots of love along the way. Jack may greet you with Who are you? but give him a little time and hell be asking, What are we doing next? NAME:  Crayola BREED:  Chihuahua/terrier mix SEX:  male COLOR:  cream AGE:  2 1/2 yrs as of Jan 2026 WEIGHT:  15 lbs Get to know Crayola:   Meet Crayola!  Crayola is a 2 1/2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing 15 pounds, and if there's one thing he wants the world to know, its this: Broken crayons still color. Crayola's journey hasn't been an easy one. He was found as a stray, and its believed he may have been hit by a car at some point in his past. Unfortunately, whatever injury he suffered never received proper treatment, leaving him with some weakness and coordination issues in his back legs. But if you're expecting Crayola to feel sorry for himself, think again. This little guy wakes up every day ready to live life to the fullest. He may move a little differently than other dogs, but he doesn't let that slow him down one bit. Crayola is brave, determined, and always ready for whatever adventure comes next. More than anything, Crayola loves people. Friends, strangers, visitors, volunteers... if you're human, there's a good chance Crayola wants to meet you. He has a sweet personality, a heart full of love, and a tail that seems to have forgotten there's any reason not to wag. A fenced yard with soft grass would be a dream come true for him. He enjoys exploring, sniffing around, and soaking up all the good things life has to offer. Crayola's one challenge is that he can be very reactive toward other dogs. While he's making progress, he currently needs careful management around canine companions and is not a dog that can simply be turned loose with every dog he meets. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog or with an experienced adopter willing to continue working on his behavior. What Crayola lacks in perfect mobility, he more than makes up for in courage. What he lacks in confidence around other dogs, he makes up for in love for people. And what he lacks in luck so far, were hoping to make up for with the perfect forever family. Crayola has already overcome more than most dogs ever will. Now all he needs is a home where he can spend the rest of his life doing what he does best: Loving people and proving that obstacles don't define you. They simply make your story more inspiring.
