Story
This is Tiga. We’ve had her since October 11, 2022, around the time of Hurricane Ian, when we rescued her. We paid $200 for her, and we believe she was around one year old when we got her, so she should now be about 4/5 years old. She’s a Boxer mix, though we’re not exactly sure what she’s mixed with. Tiga is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She loves playing with people, is very affectionate, and has such a kind personality. She gets along well with other animals and is used to being around dogs, chickens, and turtles. She does like to chase cats, but she has never harmed one. I have a cat myself, and although she chases it sometimes, she’s never aggressive or hurtful in any way. She is vaccinated, fixed/spayed, collar and chain trained, and has never harmed anyone or anything. The reason I’m making this post is because I can no longer afford to properly care for her. I’m currently working a job that doesn’t pay enough and I’m going to enlist.

NAME:  Crayola BREED:  Chihuahua/terrier mix SEX:  male COLOR:  cream AGE:  2 1/2 yrs as of Jan 2026 WEIGHT:  15 lbs Get to know Crayola:   Meet Crayola!  Crayola is a 2 1/2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing 15 pounds, and if there's one thing he wants the world to know, its this: Broken crayons still color. Crayola's journey hasn't been an easy one. He was found as a stray, and its believed he may have been hit by a car at some point in his past. Unfortunately, whatever injury he suffered never received proper treatment, leaving him with some weakness and coordination issues in his back legs. But if you're expecting Crayola to feel sorry for himself, think again. This little guy wakes up every day ready to live life to the fullest. He may move a little differently than other dogs, but he doesn't let that slow him down one bit. Crayola is brave, determined, and always ready for whatever adventure comes next. More than anything, Crayola loves people. Friends, strangers, visitors, volunteers... if you're human, there's a good chance Crayola wants to meet you. He has a sweet personality, a heart full of love, and a tail that seems to have forgotten there's any reason not to wag. A fenced yard with soft grass would be a dream come true for him. He enjoys exploring, sniffing around, and soaking up all the good things life has to offer. Crayola's one challenge is that he can be very reactive toward other dogs. While he's making progress, he currently needs careful management around canine companions and is not a dog that can simply be turned loose with every dog he meets. Because of this, he may do best as an only dog or with an experienced adopter willing to continue working on his behavior. What Crayola lacks in perfect mobility, he more than makes up for in courage. What he lacks in confidence around other dogs, he makes up for in love for people. And what he lacks in luck so far, were hoping to make up for with the perfect forever family. Crayola has already overcome more than most dogs ever will. Now all he needs is a home where he can spend the rest of his life doing what he does best: Loving people and proving that obstacles don't define you. They simply make your story more inspiring. NAME:  Chloe BREED:  Spaniel Mix SEX:    female COLOR:  red/brown AGE:  1 yr as of April 2026 WEIGHT:   17 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME: Meet Chloe!  At just 1 year old and 17 pounds, Chloe is a joyful bundle of energy, enthusiasm, and affection. While were not entirely sure what breeds make up this beautiful girl, her soft features and feathered ears certainly hint at some Spaniel ancestry. Chloe came to Canine Castaways through no fault of her own and is now looking for a family that can keep up with her zest for life. Chloe got her looks from her mama, but her energy level seems to have come from an entirely different branch of the family tree.  If Chloe had a motto, it would probably be: Why walk when you can zoom?  This young girl loves to play with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion. She's more follower than leader and often looks to other dogs for guidance and confidence. Her submissive nature makes her an easygoing playmate who simply wants to be part of the fun. Chloe still has plenty of puppy spirit. She loves to run, wrestle, play, and burn off energy before curling up in someone's lap for some well-earned snuggle time. She is friendly with new people, loves attention, and has never met a treat she didn't like. Whether she's racing around the yard, making new friends, or claiming a cozy lap for herself, Chloe approaches life with a happy heart and a wagging tail. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate young dog who will keep you smiling and remind you to enjoy the little things in life, Chloe may be your perfect match.   If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this dog... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Heartworm Tested - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Urinalysis - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on Flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $300 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this dog including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption. A tragic accident took Dr. Boelters life in December of 2017.  As a tribute to Dr. Boelter, a very special Canine Castaways supporter will pay the adoption fee for this dog's adoption..   For more information on "Boelter's Bunch", please visit http://www.caninecastaways.org/special-adoption-programs Please consider opening your heart and home to a senior dog! NAME:  Amigo BREED:  Cairn Terrier SEX:  Male COLOR:  tan AGE:  10 years as of 2026 WEIGHT:  10 lbs LOCATED IN:  Arcadia SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME:  Meet Amigo!  Amigo is a 10-year-old Cairn Terrier mix weighing just 10 pounds, and this little gentleman has enough personality to fill a room. Don t let the number 10 fool you. Amigo still has plenty of spunk, a feisty spirit, and an enthusiasm for life that makes everyone around him smile. He s always ready to see what s going on, greet a new friend, or accept a treat... especially a tasty treat! Amigo doesn't seem to know a stranger. He enjoys meeting new people and has a friendly, outgoing personality that makes him an easy dog to love. Amigo gets along well with most other dogs, making him a wonderful companion whether he's sharing a home with another pup or soaking up all the attention himself. When Amigo first came to Canine Castaways, he was dealing with itchy skin caused by a flea allergy. Thanks to proper care, his skin continues to improve, and he's feeling better every day. Amigo may be considered a senior, but he's proof that age is just a number. Hes reached the age where he's traded puppy antics for confidence... but thankfully, no one told him he's supposed to slow down. He still has plenty of pep in his step, lots of love to give, and is ready to make someone laugh with his big personality. Amigo is also a proud member of Boelter's Bunch!  Thanks to the generosity of a special supporter, his adoption fee has already been sponsored. If your application, home visit, and veterinary reference are approved, all that's left is welcoming Amigo home. If you're looking for a loyal little sidekick with a feisty spirit, a heart of gold, and an endless appreciation for treats, Amigo is ready to become your new best friend.
