Story
Let`s start the week off right with sweet Ross! Ross is such a super sweet boy - he`s just about as perfect as any pup can be! This big hunky guy is a super sweet, strong boy who likes to play and have fun. He is potty trained and crate trained, and he likes treats and toys. He is affectionate and likes attention. He loves to walk around outside and smell everything. He is looking for a home to call his own! Foster notes, 4/19/24:Ross is the sweetest boy! He loves cuddles and belly scratches, and he`s awesome with kids. Ross is fully crate trained and housebroken. He loves to go on walks, too. He is a very amazing dog. Occasionally, our big boy thinks that he is a lap dog or a little 5 lb dog, but he gives the best cuddles.

Volunteer notes on Nona:Do you need a daily dose of sunshine to warm your heart? Beat the heat and adopt Nona instead! This 2-year-old ebony princess is sweet, trusting and loving to her very core. When we are together her main goal is to get as close as possible and solicit my affection. Her positive energy is contagious, like a rush of endorphins that rejuvenate and revitalize my spirit. All is ok in my world once Nona offers her kisses. I have no doubt this mama gave her multiple litters of pups her absolute best. I could sit and revel in Nona’s company forever, but it wouldn’t be fair of me not to share her with the world.

Story
Meet Sherman! This guy is one big hunk of burning love. This big boy may look tough, but inside he`s all sugar. Sherman is bursting with love and cannot wait to show everyone! He is bold and confident and LOVES meeting new people! He is super sweet and affectionate and has the best cuddles. He is currently in a foster home, and his foster mom says that he is house trained, non-destructive (always a plus!), and super laid back (he spends most of his day sleeping!). He enjoys a leisurely game of fetch and an evening walk (a short walk that is!). And he lives for chasing squirrels out of the yard (Professional Squirrel Removal Service with a sloppy smile)!

Story
Are you looking for a truly loyal companion who will hang on your every word? One who will always have your back and protect you against vicious squirrels or unwelcome intruders? What about a superior walking, jogging, or hiking buddy? Bisquet is the one you`re looking for! This gorgeous girl is around 3 years old and she was adopted from us in 2022 but surrendered recently because she wasn`t getting along with the little dog in the home. She is housetrained, affectionate and sweet, will sit on command, and loves catching treats in the air. She`s a smart girl and can likely learn all kinds of tricks with little effort. Bisquet is a Shepherd breed and will do best in a home that understands her need to be kept busy both mentally and physically, and that she will be happiest when she is with her people and not left alone for long stretches every day. In return, this beautiful girl will reward you with incredible love, devotion, and loyalty. Meet her at BAS soon!

Story
Foster notes, 12/4/23:Pie is an extremely affectionate dog that has lived most of his life in the shelter. He would benefit from some training as he can be hyper but this is at no fault of his own. Having another playmate helps with his energy. Because Pie hasn’t had a lot of interactions with other dogs and been able to be a pup himself, all he wants to do is play while the other dogs are wanting to rest. With positive redirection Pie will calm down and take a rest himself. Pie gets really excited and will try to grab blankets, toys, whatever may be around so I would recommend lots of variety of toys for him. He absolutely loves playing fetch and could play this for hours if you allowed it. Pie is such an amazing dog that has been looked over time and time again. All he wants is love, affection and attention. He will make an amazing partner in any adventure his family goes on. He loves to ride in cars and when we take him out, he goes to the car wanting to get in- it’s the absolute cutest thing. Pie loves to get belly rubs and will reward you with all of the kisses in the world. He is such a good boy that is so deserving of a forever home. Pie is house and crate trained, and lets you know when he needs to go potty. He is walked on a leash to go outside and is starting to do much better on leash. There are times when Pie will take charge and wants to walk himself by taking the leash in his mouth and starts walking in the direction he would like to go. I crate Pie when I leave the house and he’s done absolutely amazing. Pie knows sit and that is about it. We are working on other commands. I would recommend not playing tug of war with him and just tell him to “drop” the toy and he will so you can then throw it for him to go and fetch. This is a positive way to play with Pie that does not get him too overstimulated and excited. Pie does amazing with my 2 year old and my other dogs. I would recommend that Pie go to a home with at least one other dog so he can have someone to play with as playing as become his absolute favorite thing to do. I also have cats in the house and Pie is not bothered at all with them and does not engage with them at all, he is just uninterested in cats. Like every dog, Pie just needs a family willing to show him patience and love and who will work with him. Sound like you? Story
Volunteer notes, 5/2/24:Hulk and I have spent quite a bit of time together now and I can`t believe he`s still in the shelter. He is such a playful, thoughtful, trustworthy boy every time I take him out, whether it`s on the leash or in the play yard. Each time we play together, he becomes more trusting. This time he let me sit next to him and hug him. I got a wonderful sloppy kiss in return! He seems to be a very clean dog who always keeps his white paws spotless. He does well with my husband but I get the sense he`s a ladies` man at heart. The name `Hulk` might make him sound big and imposing but he`s really on the small side for a large dog and so very gentle. This charmer deserves a loving home!Dog Day Out notes, 4/29/24:Hulk is the sweetest and most affectionest baby. He wouldn`t get in the car so I had to lift him into the back seat, immediately he jumped into the front and wanted to lay in my lap or lean against me. He had no problem getting out of the car and was very excited to enjoy our day together. We walked Lake Michael and he did great on the leash with minimal pulling. He loves to smell, so we did a lot of sniffing and a lot less walking which was fine. We enjoyed our surroundings, meeting dogs and people as we walked along. We also went to Great Bend Park and enjoyed walking and the waterfall. We even got chance to get our paws wet! Hulk is such a sweet dog, not a sound out of him, just lots of tail wags and smiles. Volunteer notes, 4/24/24:There are so many nice dogs at the shelter but Hulk just might be my favorite. I can`t possibly visit without taking him out for some playtime. He is truly an all-around excellent dog. He is playful yet calm, energetic yet attentive, and immediately people-friendly without requiring any special handling. We walked him on leash today and after some initial hesitation at the front door, he did beautifully--no pulling at all. He has such a sweet face and waits so patiently to be taken out; I can`t understand how someone hasn`t scooped him up yet.Volunteer notes, 4/18/24:We loved spending time with Hulk in the play yard today! He was calm and well-behaved on the leash. He was interested in the dogs around him but able to be redirected. He knew `sit` and took treats gently but wasn`t overly treat motivated. He was active and playful but also laid down for lots of pets. Such a nice boy and very smart!
