Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lucy came to us from the humane society after spending time with a foster family. We fell in love with her immediately. At the time, she was about 17 pounds and much calmer, but she has grown into an energetic 6-month-old puppy. Lucy is sweet, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. She loves making us laugh and enjoys being around people. Like many puppies, she is still learning manners and impulse control. When excited, she may mouth or play-bite, but she has never broken skin or shown aggression. We have young children and a 15-year-old, 7-pound senior dog. Lucy’s size and energy can be overwhelming for both, and she sometimes accidentally knocks our older dog over while trying to play. We believe Lucy would thrive in a home that can provide continued training, exercise, and structure. She would likely do best with older children or adults who can help her continue learning and growing.

Diamond

Bull Terrier

Female, Senior
Bainbridge, OH
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Diamond is an almost 10 year old Pitbull. She loves her people with every ounce of her being. She loves to cuddle and be tucked into her bed at night. She loves to be exactly where you are and involved in everything you’re doing. If you are someone that likes to garden, so is she. Diamond would be great with a family with older children or adults only house. She has boundary issues with knowing when it’s okay to be in someone’s face, so I’ve never allowed her to be alone or unattended around small children. Just to avoid any possible accidents. Diamond does have a high prey drive so small animals free ranging might not be a good fit, such as cats, small dogs, or chickens. I use to have another pitbull that she got along great with. Diamond is completely house broken and easy to train on where the exits are to alert you when she needs to go outside. She’s very treat motivated. She will sit, lay down and roll over for a snack. In fact, she’ll go anywhere if you say the word “ snack”.

She is crate trained and house broke but needs a strict potty routine. She is great with kids and our other dogs. We just have too many to keep her forever.
