Story
🎄🐾 Nami’s Christmas Wish 🐾🎄Nami is a sweet girl who came to us from a local dog pound, and this Christmas her one and only wish is a family to share her love with for the rest of her years. ❤️Nami is a 2-year-old pit bull mix (best guess) with a truly wonderful personality. She’s:✨ Very sweet and affectionate✨ Crate trained✨ Calm and respectful of other animals at the shelterShe has been around both dogs and cats and has done well with those she has met.Nami knows it isn’t always easy for bully-breed-looking dogs to find homes, but she’s holding out hope for a Christmas miracle—that someone will see past the stereotypes and recognize just how special she really is. She doesn’t want to be one of the dogs who waits months for a chance.🎁 Nami is ready to start taking applications for the right family right away.Could you be the miracle she’s wishing for this Christmas? 🐶🎄Nami's adoption fee is $225. She is vaccinated, flea & tick treated, spayed, and microchipped. You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Tuesday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.Take advantage of our foster-to-adopt program, where you can take any dog 4 mos and older home for a week to make sure it is a good fit before committing to adoption.

Story
🐾 Meet Tobias! 🐾Male | 2–3 Years | 13 lbs | Corgi MixAdoption Fee: $250Tobias is a sweet, shy little guy who just needs a patient, understanding home to help him blossom. The first thing you’ll notice about him is… he is loud. 😂 He’s all bark and no bite — a goofy, vocal wild child who uses his voice to tell the world how he feels. Underneath all that noise, though, he’s incredibly sweet.Tobias is a bit unsure when meeting new people at the shelter. Outside of the shelter he is a super sweet boy who just wants to be near his people. So close that you may trip over him. He's an absolute delight in the home he just wants people to love and snuggle with. Tobias has done well settling into a home environment, but leash walking is still a work in progress. Walking in a straight line isn’t quite his thing yet, and he tends to zig-zag back and forth in front of you, which can make him a bit of a tripping hazard. Because of this, Tobias would love a home with a fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and burn off his energy while continuing to work on leash manners at his own pace.He enjoys the company of other dogs and does especially well with confident dogs around his size — he’s used to sharing his space with other pups. He did great meeting small dogs and was a little nervous around a large poodle, but still showed interest in making friends. One adorable thing he does? He loves following Wilma around like her tiny shadow. 💛Tobias isn’t a full-time couch potato — he’s more of a spirited little adventurer — but he does enjoy napping on couches and riding in cars. He would do best in a patient home willing to give him the time he needs to settle in, build confidence, and learn new skills. With consistency and love, he will be a wonderful, loyal companion. We are unsure how he is with kids or cats.✨ Medical Info:Tobias is vaccinated, flea & tick treated, tested negative for heartworm and Lyme, microchipped, and neutered. If you’re looking for a quirky, vocal, lovable little guy who just needs a chance — Tobias may be your perfect match! 🐶💛💕You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Tuesday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Story
🍓 Meet Strawberry Shortcake! 🍓Strawberry Shortcake is a sweet, energetic little girl looking for a home where she can grow up feeling safe, loved, and spoiled like every puppy deserves. 💕She is a Llewellin (Mini English Setter) mix, with the rest of her breed makeup being a mystery. Strawberry Shortcake came to us with her siblings after their mother sadly passed away. 💔 Tragically, only one sibling survived after being fed cow’s milk, which puppies cannot properly digest. Despite her rough start, Strawberry Shortcake is thriving and full of life.At 9 weeks old, she currently weighs 11 lbs. How big she’ll be as an adult is anyone’s guess! Llewellins typically range from 35–70 lbs, while English Setters are usually 65–80 lbs. Since we don’t know her full mix, she could fall anywhere in between—or surprise us.Strawberry Shortcake is a typical puppy through and through—she loves to play, chew, bark, nap, and explore the world. 🐶 She will need continued house training and leash training, along with patience, consistency, and lots of love as she grows. She is:✔️ Vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines✔️ Flea & tick treated✔️ Dewormed✔️ Microchipped✔️ Will be spayed prior to adoption💲 Adoption fee: $300If you’re ready for puppy antics, sweet snuggles, and a lifetime of love, Strawberry Shortcake might be the perfect addition to your family! 🍓🐾You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.Worried about whether she will be a good fit for your home? No worries, we have that covered too!
