🎨 Meet Van Gogh 🐾Van Gogh is approximately 1 year old and weighs about 65 lbs. Based on his coat, coloring, and body shape, we’re guessing he may have some Rottweiler and Shepherd in him—possibly even Dutch Shepherd—though there could be a few other breeds in the mix too.Van Gogh walks well on a leash, will happily wear a coat outside if you’d like him to, and truly believes he’s a giant lap dog 🥰. He loves squeaky toys and is great at self-entertaining, making him a fun and easy companion. We haven’t seen Van Gogh around cats or kids yet, so we encourage families to bring their kids to meet him (but maybe leave the cats at home 😄). He is reported to be good with other dogs as well 🐶🐶.🩺 Van Gogh is fully vetted, including:✔️ Neutered✔️ Microchipped✔️ Vaccinated (including Rabies)✔️ Heartworm, Erhlichia & Lyme negative✔️ Anaplasmosis positive (being treated, not contagious)✔️ On heartworm prevention✔️ Flea & tick treated💲 Adoption fee: $225If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and slightly artistic best friend, Van Gogh may be your masterpiece 🎨❤️You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Story
See me in action during the Great Puppy Play off https://www.facebook.com/HighlandHumaneSociety/videos/874551722124163🐧 Skipper – Madagascar Penguin Puppy 🐧He’s a little shy at first, especially in new situations, but he warms up quickly and becomes social, friendly, and very affectionate once he feels safe. He’s always so happy to see people, even if he needs a moment to build confidence.Personality-wise, Skipper lives right between couch potato and wild child. He enjoys playful puppy moments, but he’s just as happy snuggling once he’s comfortable. He loves being held like a baby (and may whine if you stop 😆) and is especially affectionate with people he trusts. This curious fellow loves to check out new rooms and sniff everything, always eager to explore at his own pace. He’s food motivated (he loves any food, with Bacon Strips being a top-tier favorite 🥓) and already knows how to sit, making him a great candidate for continued training.Skipper does well with kids who let him come to them and would thrive in a home that offers patience, positive reinforcement, snacks, and toys. With training and confidence-building, he’s going to grow into a wonderful, loving dog with a sweet, loyal personality.🐧 Madagascar Penguin Puppies 🐧Kowalski (Adopted), Private, Rico & Skipper are ready for their next big adventure—wherever life takes you! These four adorable boys are sweet, social, and full of puppy charm. A couple have a cute little underbite, and all have scruffy coats (not expected to be long-haired).We were told they may be a Labrador Retriever/Husky mix, though genetics like to keep us guessing. Kowalski’s striking black-and-tan coloring even gives off Rottweiler/Shepherd/Doberman vibes—so who really knows? 😄📏 14 weeks old | ~17 lbs each📈 Estimated adult size: 50+ lbs🩺 Medical & Care Info:✔️ Vaccinated✔️ Flea & tick treated✔️ On heartworm prevention✔️ Microchipped & neutered 💲 Adoption fee: $250Ready to add a little penguin energy to your life? These boys are standing by for their happily-ever-after 🖤🐾You can stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Story
Meet Kimber 🐾🤎Kimber🐶 Female Coonhound🎂 Around 6 years old⚖️ 52 lbsKimber came to us from another shelter with her six puppies in tow — a devoted mama who did her job beautifully. 💕 Now that her years of motherhood are behind her, it’s finally her turn to be someone’s baby.Kimber is everything we love about a coonhound — soulful eyes, a curious nose, and that wonderfully special hound personality. If you know and love coonhounds, you know they aren’t just dogs… they’re characters. They’ll follow a scent like it’s their life’s mission, sing you a little hound song now and then, and love their people with their whole heart. She may be 6, but don’t let that number fool you! Kimber still has plenty of pep for:🌲 Walks and wooded trails🎾 Romping around the yard🚗 Weekend adventuresAt the same time, she’s past the wild puppy stage and perfectly content just being your loyal companion. She’s at that sweet spot in life — active enough to have fun, settled enough to truly enjoy being a pet.We know it can be a little harder for adult dogs to find homes, but we’re hopeful there’s someone out there who sees the beauty in a mature, loving girl who’s ready for her forever chapter. Kimber deserves a home that appreciates her hound heart and treats her like the cherished family member she’s meant to be. 🤎Adoption Details:💲 Adoption Fee: $150✔️ Spayed✔️ Vaccinated✔️ On heartworm & flea/tick prevention✔️ Heartworm & Lyme negative✔️ Microchipped upon adoptionIf you’ve been waiting for a loyal, soulful sidekick with just the right balance of energy and calm, Kimber might be your girl. 🐾You can stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time.
