Story
Hi there! I'm Obsidian! I arrived at NAS as a stray back in February 2023. I was in a foster home for 6 months but unfortunately had to return to the shelter due to clashing personalities with another dog in the home. I am a highly energetic and playful little lady who would do well in a family that leads an active lifestyle. I require a child free home due to fear-based aggression and herding behaviors. I am looking for a family that can evaluate other dogs due to make sure it is a positive experience due to being dog selective. Staff here think I'd make a great sports/agility dog due to the amount of exercise I require in a day as well as being incredibly smart. I love to keep my brain working so continued training would help with my fear-based aggression and territorial behavior. I am a little nervous around strangers and have been working on this with a behaviorist and my foster family prior to coming back to the shelter. In a home I will need a safe space for when guest visit the home and a space for meeting new people. Once I warm up to you, I am a complete snuggle bug. I love sitting in people's laps and getting all the pets. My favorite thing in this entire world is my tennis ball and always need to have one with me. I could play fetch for hours if you'll let me. I will require a full week of decompression time once in a new home so that we can really bond. Since new people take longer for me to become comfortable with I should be taken to a fear free certified clinic to keep things low stress and I may require some pre-appointment sedation. To keep me healthy and comfortable I am on a long-term behavior medication (Fluoxetine). Please fill out an application to meet mePlease note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. Story
When we think of sweet Miss Pebbles, one word comes to mind: Resilient. She is truly a staff favorite. Pebbles has had a difficult start to young life. She came into the shelter as a stray after evading rescue attempts for a few days. Pebbles was severely emaciated and had a broken leg. Unfortunately, it had already been broken for 3-4 weeks so she needed an amputation. She doesn't let this stop her and she can still get around just as well as all her four legged friends. Pebbles came in initially with her housemates, Wilma and Fred. These three are all named after the iconic Flintstones characters. Pebbles loved wrestling and playing with her siblings when they were all here at NAS. She's now watched them leave the shelter. This means it's Pebbles turn to find her family... And trust us, she's ready! Pebbles is very affectionate, doesn't mind being held, and is a big snuggle bug. She loves giving kisses and her favorite thing is laying on people's laps. Pebbles loves ALL toys and treats. She loves her stuffed toys a little too much. Her favorite hobby is shredding her stuffies. Due to Pebbles resource guarding she would need to be supervised with another dog when toys and food are involved. Since Pebbles is such a love bug she also sometimes guards her people and needs a family that understands she needs slower introductions to new people. A cute trait that shelter staff adores is Pebbles' tiny underbite that is barely noticeable. Pebbles is dog selective, but has lived with dogs in the past and done well. She seems to do well with dogs that are not extremely high energy. Cats are super exciting to chase and bark at, so they are a no go for this girl. Pebbles has been with some "foster to adopt" families, but has not found the right fit yet. One of her foster families who loved her very much even sponsored her adoption fee! Pebbles is looking for a home with children 16+. Do you think you can give this amazing girl the home and family she deserves? Please fill out an application to meet this sweet pup! Story
Blue is very much a gentle giant. He loves to lounge around the house, loves to take walks, and loves to play with toys. He has not been tested around cats, but does get nervous around other dogs, for this reason we do recommend that he is an only dog. Blue sometimes is a little more leery around men but after a little time he warms right up!Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website.
