Large Dog Friendly: from a distance - she is learning how not to jump on them or play too roughly.
Small Dog Friendly: With some more training, we think she will learn the correct way to play with smaller dogs.
Cat Friendly: Unknown - Foster’s don't have any - Highly unlikely.
Crate Trained: Yes - she likes to complain when you leave during the day, but she sleeps throughout the night in it, and with a little calming music, she will calm down (takes about 5-10 min).
Housebroken: Yes
Energy Level: High - she is still a puppy
Reaction to New People: She loves people - wants to play with humans as soon as she sees them, she is good with kids, with slow introduction.
Kid Friendly: Elementary, Jr., and HS school age; she does well with babies. She is a little rough and wants to play with them with her toys.
Training: hoping to start some reactive training for her soon (end of May), she knows sit, kennel, shake, lay down, and heal (she is getting very good at walking on leash, she loves to be outside)
Grooming Needs: Every week brushing -she has a super soft coat, with the fun Minnesota weather changes, she does shed a bit more, she loves being brushed and will tolerate a high velocity blow dryer.
Fence: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 6 ft or taller. A privacy fence would be ideal for her, but chain link is ok. She hasn't tried to challenge it, but the fosters wouldn’t challenge her with it.
Solo or Siblings: After some training, we think she would be great with another dog her size, a sibling that would match her energy and her playfulness. She loves the toys, tug of war is her favorite, and playing doctor with the plushy toys
From the Foster: What we know about Stella’s past is still a bit of a mystery. Before becoming a foster with Adopt A Husky Minnesota, we were told she had been tied up and abandoned. Thankfully, some wonderful people in the Brown County / Sleepy Eye area stepped in to help her, making sure she received immediate care, full vaccinations, and all the recommended medical attention she needed.
Since entering foster care, Stella has slowly been opening up and showing us the sweet, goofy girl she truly is. She’s adventurous, curious, and fully believes she is the official neighborhood watch supervisor. One of her favorite daily activities is sitting outside on her tie-out waiting for the neighborhood kids to get off the bus.
Like many young dogs still learning about the world, Stella has some reactive behaviors we continue to work on — especially with dogs passing by on leash and bikers. She also has a very high prey drive and thinks all the neighborhood wildlife should be her friends. Through constant training sessions, patience, and structure, Stella continues to make progress every day.
Honestly, from what we know about her past, it’s hard to blame her. She’s still young, eager to learn, and simply wants to feel safe and included in a family.
Stella is quirky, talkative, and absolutely loves being the center of attention. If humans are involved, she wants to be involved too. She’s also a huge basketball fan and faithfully watches Timberwolves games with her foster family.
She is the self-appointed “doctor” of all plush toys — although one powerful whip of her head and those toys go flying across the room (haha). Thankfully, Stella redirects easily and genuinely enjoys training and learning activities. Since she’s still very much in her puppy phase, she’s always on the lookout for treats… or whatever food the humans happen to be eating.
At the end of the day, Stella really is a good dog. She would thrive with an active outdoor family who enjoys hikes, lake days, camping trips, or summer bonfires. Ironically, despite her adventurous side, Stella is absolutely not a morning dog. She prefers sleeping in and finding the softest possible spot to lounge on. She loves cuddling on the couch, the bed, or honestly, anywhere she thinks she can squeeze herself next to her people.
Stella has also developed some allergy issues, so she is currently taking allergy medication to help manage her itching.
She’s not perfect — but she’s trying, learning, and growing every single day. More than anything, Stella deserves a family willing to continue guiding her and showing her what love and stability truly look like. 💙

All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Leptospirosis,
Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.
