Wachiwi has a lot of energy that she is able to run off with the other dog in our household.  It would be great if she could go to a home where someone can play with her or walk her often. She can by mouthy and as such she should not be around young kids. He is a good listener when I have to say leave it and his recall is almost bulletproof. He does enjoy a good game of "chase the squirrel." His prey drive is pretty strong but we have been working on leaving them be on our walks. He very much enjoys his sniffy walks and would love to have one every day. He does well with all dogs he has come into contact with but specifically really enjoys the company of small dogs. I think he would enjoy having another dog in the home, but it is not necessary for him. He does not like being in the crate alone, but as far as I have seen he does well loose in the house alone especially when he starts to understand the routine of the humans. Finley loves to sit outside and could do it all day! That is why I think he would do best in a house that has a fenced in yard for him to chill in. Prince Finley is a goofy boy up for any adventure you bring him on! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Come meet me at our adoption event at Urban Tails Pet Supply in Minneapolis on Saturday, 9/23 from 11am - 1pm!   Age: Approximately 9 years old Weight: 82 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Kid friendly: yes Potty trained: yes,  Kodiak is fully potty trained, but will sometimes leave accidents in the home if left alone and separated from the people he loves Crate trained: no;  Kodiak is a larger dog and does not enjoy how cramped crates are. He would do better being left in an indoor pen when his parents are not home Hi! My name is Kodiak. My current foster dad likes to call me Kodi. Not to toot my own horn, but I am a beautiful Husky and Malamute mix. I spent nine long years with my previous family, but unfortunately they could no longer care for me. I would definitely consider myself a gentle giant who absolutely loves a good cuddle. Wherever you decide to hang out I'll be there to provide a nice and fluffy pup to hug. My previous family was composed of my mom, my sister (she was such a small dog), and my brother (I always thought he was different... turns out he's what's called a cat!) My foster dad loves plants and animals. And I've proven myself to be great with all of them. I've been caught chilling on the couch with my fosters dog and cat on multiple occasions. I do need to be honest with you about a few things... my previous mother was older. And because of that I've developed some "bad" habits. When left alone my anxiety definitely gets the best of me. There have been occasions where I've had accidents on my foster dad's floors. I'm also a stress eater and will swipe whatever I can reach off the counters when I'm alone. My foster dad reassures me that all of my lovable traits definitely outweigh the negative ones. I hope you give me a chance, and I'm looking forward to being in my forever home! ~Sincerely Kodi Adoption Fee: $325    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  HI! My name is Bowie and I'm a young husky mix born approximately 2/2/22 and I weigh around 65 pounds.  I absolutely love attention from my foster parents and I am extremely food motivated!  You will have my undivided attention when teaching me new tricks if you provide the snacks.  I can have lots of energy and enjoy letting it out through walks, playing in the yard, and chewing on toys.  My parents have gotten me a couple puzzle toys that incorporate food for mental stimulation.  I'm very smart and love a challenge!  Did I mention I love food?!  When we are done exercising and playing, I really like to snuggle and take naps near my family.           I have a good foundation of some basic training and am currently working with my foster parents on new commands.  Right now I'm getting really good at waiting to eat my dinner until my parents tell me it's ok (I may drool a little when waiting, and I'm not sure if I can fix that).  I am potty trained, and I like to let my parents know when I need to go out by going to the door and lightly pawing at it.  On walks, I like to keep pace with my family and will only have a slight tug here and there as I'm curious about the world around me.  With all the snow that's fallen, I will sometimes bury my face in it to follow a scent!  I am crate trained and I like to sleep in my crate when it's time to go to bed.  Both of my foster parents work during the day and I do get a little sad when they leave, but it's only because I want to spend the whole day with them!  I am a people person, and will request belly rubs by rolling onto my back.           I have inherited a high prey drive from my husky ancestors, so I don't think I'd be a good fit around cats or other small animals.  I am also unsure about other dogs, so I want to go to a home where I can be your one and only.  My parents tell me I can be a bit clumsy as I don't fully realize my size and strength.  I act like a lap dog and when I get excited, I sometimes run into your legs to greet you and jump.  This might be an issue for children or older family members.  So if you are looking for a big goof ball to cuddle, exercise, and learn new things with you, then pick me! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination if age appropriate, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Rabies, 4DX, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $495.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 1, 2023, 9:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Tyr is a young (approximately 3 years old) male Siberian Husky who recently came to us from a Reservation. He has a lot of energy and loves to play with our year-old Mountain Curr foster and likes to spend time outside even when it is cold. Despite having the energy level of a young husky, he is also perfectly happy to curl up next to or on the lap of one of his favorite humans to watch a movie or two. We were told that he lived with cats previously but he did show interest in our cat who is now steering clear of him. This may just require proper introduction and time to adjust to each other. Tyr seems to get along with other dogs but may not get along with an Alpha male.  Tyr treats his crate as a safe space and will go in willingly if the door is left open or for short periods of time for a time out, but he does not like to be left in the crate. He will hurt himself trying to get out of the crate if left for a long time. He will likewise pee in the crate. If we have to go on errands, we leave him in the house with our other dogs. We found out that being left by himself, despite not being in the crate, causes separation anxiety. He will try to get out of the house by chewing and clawing at doors and siding. He will also try to chew doorknobs. Sadly, the one incident of doorknob chewing damaged his canine and it had to be extracted. Tyr will need dental care to make sure his teeth do not get damaged further.  When it comes to feeding, we suspect that his previous owner fed him in his crate since he does not eat much from a dish left out in the open and seems to feel more secure eating in the crate. He does seem to be a bit underweight for his age but otherwise healthy and seems to have some training. He knows "sit" and "shake" but we haven't worked with him to see if he knows "stay", "lay down" or other commands since it is so hectic with multiple dogs in the house.    He seems to be very well behaved and is such a sweetheart! Since Huskies tend to have a high energy level and separation anxiety, we think he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time and is able to provide the physical and mental stimulation he needs. If not around most of the time, it will be better for Tyr to go to a home with another dog that he can bond with to ease his separation anxiety.    As you can see from the pictures, he is a gorgeous black and white husky with one blue and one brown eye. He is also very fluffy and soft... perfect to cuddle with! If you think Tyr is the right dog for your family, please submit an application today! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, dental, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 1, 2023, 9:46 pm
