Story
Name: Natasha Sex: Female Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 01/13/24 (estimated) Weight: 35lbs Large Dog Friendly: Not aggressive with other dogs. She is very submissive when it comes to other dogs and will stay by her person when meeting other dogs. Small Dog Friendly: Untested but likely ok with small dogs as she was good with her puppies and cats. Cat Friendly: Yes! She has not been aggressive nor has shown signs of aggression towards the cats. In fact, when meeting the foster’s cat, she did not even look to smell the cat. Crate Trained: She will sleep in the crate throughout the night without any issues. When putting her in the crate for us to leave the house, she has broken out of the crate (without breaking the crate) and was found lying at the bottom of the stairs waiting for us to get home. Housebroken: She is 99% housebroken. Energy Level: High, energetic at times with zoomies. Zoomies happen after she potties and when one of us will get home. Will take time to snuggle and nap. She LOVES to snuggle. Reaction to New People: This is not her first option, no aggression. She is not the type of dog that will jump all over new people or even want to go out of her way to meet them. There are some people she will come right up to and others that she will stay back to decide if she is ok with them or not. Kid Friendly: The guess would be friendly, but has been untested. But she would probably have the same reaction as to “New People”. Babies, or even a toddler that someone is holding, she seems to be jealous of that, like she is the one who wants to be held. She almost knocked over a mom who was holding her 6 month old because we weren’t aware of that. Training: Working on this. She knows sit, eat, stay, potty and “go outside”. Grooming Needs: Brushing frequently as a Husky would need to be brushed. She has been having her nails trimmed. Fence: She would work great in a fenced in yard as she likes to run around. Solo or Siblings: Either one. It has taken several weeks for her to warm up to our husky. She never got into a fight with our’s but she does get jealous when you pay attention to another. When that happens, Natasha will try to get into your face to get your attention. If she is solo, she will want to bond with her person which will make her the happiest dog! From the Foster: She is a sweetheart. Very lovable and huggable. She doesn’t demand your attention all the time but will let you know when she wants to snuggle. She, at times, doesn’t know personal space boundaries while trying to get your attention…even if you are on your cell phone playing a game! Natasha is a quick learner when it comes to walking. She doesn’t pull and will want to know where you are. When she hears a barking dog, she will stop and look in the direction with concern. She has been walking with another Husky without any problems. She has been with another Husky since the end of March and has been doing well with that. She shares her toys and her favorite places to rest. When it comes to food dishes, Natasha knows which one is her’s and which ones (dog and 2 cats) are not. If she approaches them, she will get a “not yours” or “leave it” and she will back away. Natasha does not know what the doorbell means, plus she is not keen on meeting new people (she isn’t aggressive at all with new people, she just prefers her people). When someone is at the door, she doesn’t run, jumping all over at the door and then jumping at the person coming in. She will wait in an area where she can see who it is and then decide if she wants to come to say hi. As far as eating, she is on schedule being fed twice a day and she is very, very, very, food motivated. Adoption Fee: $400 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Yuki Sex: Female Color: Isabella White Eye Color: Brown Birthday: 11/15/20 Weight: 40 Large Dog Friendly: Yes, she does really well with all the dogs she meets at the dog park. At home she tends to get nervous with other dogs when they are too hyper or wild. Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: At this time, no, as she is not used to being in a crate. Appears to have some separation anxiety and will need work to get crate trained. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: She is typically very calm, but does get zoomies and likes to run around. She would do best in a home where she can relax, cuddle and get all the belly rubs! She also loves walks, and regular runs in a fenced in yard/area Reaction to New People: She is shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets. Needs to work on socialization with new people and situations Kid Friendly: Older and calmer would be best for her, as young kids and their noises and quick movements make her nervous. Training: She knows the basics, but could use some better leash manners as she likes to jump around and go all husky when asked to go potty. She needs socialization to learn some confidence in new/public situations. Like most huskies, she is a runner, so caution by the doors and getting in and out of the car is needed. Fence: Currently she goes out on a leash to go potty and then back in, as she does not appear to like the cold as much as a lot of huskies. She does respect the fence at a dog park, but at home would need to be on a tie out or supervised as she will dig under or try to climb out. Solo or Siblings: She would love to be the lone center of human attention, but could also like a sibling to play with, depending on the dog as she can be picky about her playmates and if they are too hyper she can be nervous. From the Foster: Yuki is a furry little princess that loves all the attention. She is overall pretty calm, but also has her husky zoomies. Since a small pup, she has always been a bit shy and hesitant in unknown situations/people and needs to build her confidence, but she does love to explore, and would benefit from socialization and group training class. Like a typical husky, she loves to run, climb, jump etc, so may also benefit from joring or agility classes. She is tolerant of baths, but is scared of water otherwise, and will tip-toe through wet grass. She loves attention and belly rubs, and will lay on her back and paw at you or reach out to you for more if you stop. She is an all around adventurous, loving, curious and goofy girl who needs a best friend to cuddle, experience life with, and to help her overcome her nervousness/fear of the world. Adoption Fee: $50 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

Story
Name: Lobo Sex: Male Color: Black & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 01/31/21 Weight: 55 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Unknown Cat Friendly: No Crate Trained: Yes, in crate overnight and while not home. Doesn't whine, bark or scratch. Housebroken: Yes, is fairly regular, sits and barks by the door or rings the bell on the door. Energy Level: He does fine if we run, take short or long walks, or go hiking. He's also content hanging around the house and being mellow. If he gets bored he'll bring you a toy or come talk to you. Reaction to New People: Curious, gives a good sniff, may try to jump up for a closer look but not always. Kid Friendly: Yes, he's slightly reactive at barriers like a baby gate or in his bed but moreso only if he's surprised. We have four kids 7-15 and they all have friends over and do fine after being educated about large dogs if they don't have experience. Training: Learns quick. Listens well inside, needs more training outside with distractions. Knows sit, shake, down (lay down), leave it/drop, roll over and plays fetch and tug of war with toys inside. Grooming Needs: Typical Husky/dog Fence: Respects baby gates, doesn't know he could jump a 4' fence so does respect them as well. Solo or Siblings: Will do fine with other dogs. He did great with Charlie (another foster Husky for around 3 months) but sometimes they had different ideas about when to play or rest. Pretty normal stuff. He's been watched by other fosters with dogs who provided good feedback. From the Foster: Lobo is great, he learns really quick and has made huge strides in all areas and loves to please so he'll work hard at anything. He has some things to work on, mainly pulling on walks (much better with a pinch collar), excited by animals, and other dogs but his mannerisms express he wants to go play. He responds to new training really fast within 2-3 days of working consistently on something. He'd be great for sports. In cool weather he pulls on runs for up to 1.5 miles and then jogged next to me for another 1.5+ miles for 3+ total. I believe he can go further with continued workouts. He can be silly and likes to play including some tug of war, fetch in the house, light wrestling. He's very sweet loves to lay with the kids and be pet. He counter-surfs and is opportunistic if food is left out. He doesn't dig into trash or the pantry stuff though. He's been protective of long-lasting snacks like a raw bone or something in a Kong but has gotten less reactive with these things over time.

Story
Name: Keeva Sex: Female Color: Black & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 02/26/24 Weight: 40 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Unknown Crate Trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: High Reaction to New People: Keeva is still working on learning to like new people. She will run and hide or bark at people she does not know. She is not aggressive just fearful. Kid Friendly: Yes Training: Knows sit and No Grooming Needs: Shorter coat that is easy to keep clean and brush Fence: Would be best. She does use a tie out for potty and does well on that while supervised Solo or Siblings: She would do better with another dog. She watches her foster brother for his reaction to new things and guidance. She loves to play husky style so will need a tolerant pup. Sometimes she does not take the other dogs signal for stop and will continue to pester. Not mean, just playful From the Foster: Keeva was astray that came from Animal Control so nothing is known about her past. She still is very shy with new people and runs away to hide when she feels scared. Her foster mom has been working with her and doing slow meet and greets with treats. She loves treats so she is very interested in getting one of those. She only took a day to feel comfortable at her new foster home. She is young so there is time to teach her that people are good. She is very active. A typical young husky that likes to find things and put them in her mouth. Her new home will have to be very puppy proof so that she doesn't get in trouble. Keeva is so loving. Once she has had exercise she loves to lay by her foster mom and cuddle. She has the cutest husky curl ever. Being so little she walks easy on leash but is again afraid of a lot of activity or noise and will try and retreat. She has done well with all dogs she has met, she loves dog friends. She can be a little pest for older dogs but she is not mean. Her foster family says she is just full of joy!

Story
Name: Teddy Jo Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 09-24-2021 (estimated) Weight: 60 Large dog friendly: Yes, prefers females. Can be selective meeting dogs on leash. Small dog friendly: No Cat friendly: No, strong prey drive Crate trained: Yes, but does whine, pace and bark. He had a history of soiling his kennel too. We are using a prescribed medication (prosac) to help ease his anxiety and have seen amazing results. It's an inexpensive med, costing just $8 for a sixty day supply. He has complete free roam of the house when home alone now. Has never been destructive. House-trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Reaction to new people: Friendly Kid friendly: Loves kids Training: Knows sit, paw, lay-down Normal husky coat which will require regular brushing. You should aim for once a week or so, and more when he is blowing his coat, typically twice a year. Fence: Strong tie-out recommended. He is an escape artist (can climb fences, and flip up gate latches) Solo or siblings: Requires a sibling, was adopted as a solo dog and was anxious, Just wasn't the right environment for him. From the foster: Need a snuggle buddy? Teddy is the one to keep you cozy at night and "aaaoooohhh" sweet nothings. Teddy gets along best with female dogs, and will take redirection well from dogs and humans. He tends to jump when greeting people and likes to counter surf. Teddy paces to let you know when he needs to go out. He enjoys walking nicely on the leash (not pulling too hard), followed by cuddles on the couch with his foster and the kids, nudging them for pets. Teddy does have some separation anxiety when home alone. Shared walls/apartment living would not be a good fit as he can be noisy at times, he is getting better and many times will go lay in his crate by choice when we are home. He recently started having free roam and has been doing really good! He is by far one of the sweetest and lovable huskies you'll ever meet.

Story
Name: Bear Sex: Male Color: Black & White Eye Color: Brown eyes, has a parti eye with specks of blue Birthday: 12/17/23 Weight: 45 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes! Bear is very friendly, but he’s still working on learning cues from other dogs. So, he might not understand that another dog needs space. Small Dog Friendly: Bear currently lives with a large dog and a medium dog. He loves everyone! Cat Friendly: Yes, Bear has been around cats in the past. He’s a lover, not a cat eater! Crate Trained: Bear sleeps nicely in his crate. He does well when he’s kenneled and when we are gone, but he’s very excited to get out once we return. Housebroken: Yes Energy Level: Bear is a typical husky. He loves rough, husky play. He also likes to cuddle, but is quick to play from his resting state. Reaction to New People: Bear is a very happy, excited guy. He’s working on being a gentleman, but meeting new people is so cool he can hardly contain his excitement. He is a fast learner, though, so with time, he’ll get it. Kid Friendly: Yes and no. He’s a very sweet, but energetic, guy. He also loves to talk. So, I can see how he’d be intimidating to small kids. But, he’s about the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, so I know he would not be mean or aggressive towards a kid. Training: he’s a fast learner and very treat motivated. When he arrived in foster care, he had absolutely no manners whatsoever. He has picked up commands quickly and seems to thrive in a rule-oriented household. Grooming Needs: Bear doesn’t love to be brushed, but he tolerates it. He likes to have his belly lightly brushed, so we tend to resort to that often to get him used to being brushed. Fence: Highly, highly recommended. Solo or Siblings: Bear would love a rough and tumble sibling. He loves being with his foster brother. They play hard and then cuddle after. Bear also uses cues from his foster brother to learn. From the Foster: What’s there to say except Bear is a total lover. He loves to explore and meet new people. He loves to play with his foster brother, and he also loves toys. He’s a typical husky with selective hearing, but ready to learn.
