From the Ship's log of the Black Pearl It has been four months since we last saw land. The crew and I are anxious to find what we hope to be our new forever home. The journey began under dark and foreboding skies and was at times terribly lonesome, but the weather improved a few weeks ago and it's been smooth sailing and fun on deck ever since. With the recent warm weather and favorable winds, we have traveled far and learned a lot. I'm now ship (house) trained, and can go up and down the companionways (stairs). I've mastered sit, working on lay down, and my instructor says I'll have all of my basic commands down by the time we reach port. Did I mention that I've also become crate trained and love the safety and security it provides. When we arrive I hope there will be many long walks and trips to the dog parks as I love making new friends. I'm very social and when I use my play bow to initiate play it works almost every time. I'm told that I have an average amount of zoomies for a pup my age and will thrive in an environment that is puppy friendly and has the time to teach me the ways of the world. On that note, I respond very well to positive reinforcement and I'm very sensitive so raised voices and immersion therapy aren't the best ways to teach and communicate with me. After the turbulent start I'm a little sensitive and shy to new experiences and extra time and understanding will help speed up my full recovery. I'm growing very fast at this point and currently about 5 months old. I'm part Heeler and my foster dad thinks I might have some hound in me as well. But that doesn't really matter. What does is that I'm going to be the best dog you've ever had. I'm very affectionate, gentle and loyal. I'm smart, kind, and will do my best to fill your life with as much joy as I can every day. I'm looking for a fur-ever home that has a lot of love to give and share.
