Story
Elara is just beginning to learn what it means to be a dog in a home. She has had little to no training yet, so her new family should be prepared to start with the basics — house training, leash skills, basic manners, socialization, and learning how to settle in the home. Raising a puppy takes time, patience, consistency, and plenty of supervision. During this important developmental stage, she needs people who are home at least every two hours throughout the day for potty breaks, guidance, companionship, and opportunities to learn. Puppy classes are strongly encouraged, both for training and continued socialization. As she grows, her exercise and activity needs will increase, so her family should be prepared to provide regular walks, age-appropriate exercise, mental enrichment, and ongoing training as she matures. Elara is at the very beginning of her journey, and with the right guidance, she’ll have every opportunity to grow into a wonderful adult companion. (HH) Estimated adult weight is about 40+ pounds, no guarantees.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:6Ezekiel is a 10-month-old boxer weighing 65 pounds. He is a sweet, sensitive puppy who's still learning that the world can be a safe place. Everything is a little overwhelming right now, but with patience and kindness, this gentle boy has all the potential to blossom into the happy, confident companion he's meant to be. He'll thrive with experienced adopters who can let him settle in at his own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way. A quiet adult home with a confident resident dog would be a wonderful fit, helping Ezekiel build confidence and discover all the joys of being a puppy. He would do best with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. August 23, 2026, 8:27 pm

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 73 lbs. of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, with dogs who are submissive, or as an only dog. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Gypsy has been waiting for her forever home since she was just a puppy at the Milo Foundation Sanctuary. Through it all, she has never stopped hoping that the right person will come along. Gypsy is an active, loyal girl who is happiest by your side. She would thrive with someone who enjoys hiking, running, exploring new trails, or simply spending time outdoors. If you're looking for a dedicated adventure partner and workout buddy, Gypsy is ready to join you every step of the way. Because Gypsy loves having her person all to herself, she would do best as the only dog in the home. In return, she'll give you her whole heart and become a faithful companion who wants nothing more than to share life's adventures with you. This wonderful girl has been waiting far too long for the chance to experience the love and comfort of a home of her own. Could you be the one she's been waiting for? For more information or to schedule an appointment to meet Gypsy, please call 707-459-4900.

Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereSunflower is proof that three legs are plenty for living your best life. This 11-month-old, 52-pound pittie mix was hit by a car and has recovered beautifully in a foster home. These days, she’s much more interested in important things like rolling over for belly rubs, stretching out on a comfy dog bed, and lying in the grass with her nose buried in the flowers. Her foster reports she’s a total sweetheart and wonderful roommate. She's housetrained, respectful with food, has free roam of the house, and is able to relax home alone for several hours. She walks politely on leash and is surprisingly fast on three legs, especially if you’re willing to chase her around the yard. Sunflower doesn’t hand out her trust to everyone right away. New people can make her nervous, and she needs time to decide you’re a friend. Once she does, she’s all in, soaking up head scratches and chin rubs. She’s looking for a quiet, adult-only home. Her adopter should continue building her confidence through positive, reward-based training. Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire. August 23, 2026, 8:27 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:3This dog is available to meet by appointment only. Blanket is a 3-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier weighing 72 pounds with a gentle soul and a sweet, sensitive nature. Shelter life has been overwhelming for him, but in foster care he’s beginning to relax and show the loving companion he truly is. Quietly social: Blanket enjoys being wherever his people are. While he may occasionally step away if approached too directly, he always comes back immediately to sit nearby, showing that he loves companionship as he builds confidence. Wonderful with respectful people: Though he appears to prefer a quiet home, Blanket really enjoys the company of dog-savvy teenagers in his foster home, hanging around wherever the action is. Dog-social: Blanket is also social with other dogs. He happily walks alongside a canine companion and appears much more comfortable exploring the world with a dog friend by his side. With kindness, encouragement, and preferably a confident canine companion, this sweet boy is sure to become a loyal and devoted friend. Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet him.August 23, 2026, 8:27 pm
