Story
My daughter found Moose wandering in an intersection at night and brought him home. He was chipped and the owner was contacted but never responded. I got some information from the Contra Costa shelter where he had been found as a stray in November 2025 and reunited with his owner (while he was there he was vaccinated, chipped and neutered). Moose's birthday is August 5, 2025 so he is about 11 months old. Moose is super friendly and walks well on a leash (not perfect but not hard to handle). He loves to play chase with other dogs. He doesn't bark much when he's at home (not even at the mailman!). He loves toys but stuffed ones won't last very long. He is food-motivated for training. He knows sit and lie down pretty well. He is jumping up less but he definitely needs continued training. Moose is a wonderful dog and will make a fantastic pet for someone but I wasn't looking for a dog and don't want to keep him permanently. Please help me find a forever home for him!

Story
Im needing to rehome our 6yr old boxer. I'm Recently, having to move in with my 2 disabled parents and unfortunately cannot keep her. She is a love bug, sweet , smart, goofy, wiggily , boxer. She loves toys and playing tug of war and fetch. She only sometimes brings it back though lol. She get along great with other dogs, in fact she would prefer to live in a house with another dog. She loves children of all ages. She is a bouncy, wiggly , leaner so i would recommend kids 8 and up so she doesn't knock them over ( on accident out of love) she loves cats she has lived with 3 different cats over the years. The cons...she is a foodie and will still food off the counter if left alone. She also, sometimes happy pees. When she first meets someone , if they get her really excited. I would recommend meeting new people outside. Once she knows you she won't do that anymore. Get in touch if you would like to meet her!

Story
We are looking for a good home for our sweet, affectionate, 4-year-old boxer-shepherd, Lexi. She is well-trained, with excellent recall, knows several commands (sit/ down/ place/ leave it/ go), and is smart, so she could learn more. Lexi loves snuggles, walks, hikes, and playing catch. She can get anxious around unfamiliar dogs and people, especially kids. We’ve worked with a trainer so that she is comfortable and safe with our 3-year old, but as we’re getting ready to have another human kid, we’ve realized we aren’t able to give her the life we’d like her to have. We’re hoping to find Lexi a loving home without little kids, where she can have more outside time and consistency.

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 73 lbs. of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, with dogs who are submissive, or as an only dog. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Thank you for your interest in this sweet girl. Ella has been adopted, Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

Story
Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. Has some vision.Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats (see https://youtu.be/t_3b0r0n9LY ). But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies.I like to be active and meet people and other dogs (see https://youtu.be/9LG4Cy9_kJI ). However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nWkm8OssZU ). At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved (see https://youtu.be/Y_-7FDicj-M ).I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person.Blind Dog Rescue has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

While she can be a little shy when meeting new people and exploring new places, volunteers have watched her confidence grow more and more each day. Quiet and easygoing: Petra enjoys leisurely walks and self-guided "sniffaris," taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the world around her. Soft and affectionate: Once she feels comfortable, Petra enjoys treats, gentle pets, and spending time near her people. Volunteers describe her as sweet, gentle, and easy to handle. Curious young pup: She loves exploring the yard, watching birds, and investigating interesting sounds. Cheese is a particular favorite! Ready to keep growing: Petra is still learning that the world is a safe place and would thrive with adopters who can continue building her confidence through patience, kindness, and positive experiences. Recommend placement with appropriately matched dogs, or placed as a solo dog with appropriate dog friends. If you're looking for a gentle companion who will blossom with a little time and love, Petra may be the perfect match.July 21, 2026, 4:03 am

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog G:2Larry – Playful, Affectionate, and Full of Fun Larry is a 1-year-old, 68-pound brindle Pit Bull Terrier mix with a happy-go-lucky personality and plenty of youthful enthusiasm. Active young guy: Larry can be a fairly strong puller on leash and is still working on his leash manners. His enthusiasm for adventure is part of his charm. Toy lover: He enjoys a good game of fetch with a tennis ball and also likes playing with plush toys, giving him plenty of ways to entertain himself. Affectionate companion: Larry loves scratches and attention, often rolling over to request belly rubs and soaking up affection from his people. Sweet and engaged: He takes treats gently. Even when wandering around exploring, he naturally comes back to reconnect. He may show interest in passing dogs but remains calm, without barkng. Larry would do well with appropriately matched dogs or as a solo dog with dog friends outside the home. July 21, 2026, 4:03 am
