Story
We rescued Jax 4 years ago, and he's become a beloved member of our family that we are heartbroken to have to re-home due to new jobs with travel and commutes. Jax is a nearly 7 year old boxer mix... a 70 pound dog who would love to sit in your lap and give lots of sloppy kisses if you let him! Jax is a sweetheart, whether curled at your feet in the family room, playing keep-away with the kids, or running with his doggie friends around the backyard. Jax's main challenge is separation anxiety: He spent over a year in the shelters after being abandoned by his previous family, and still suffers from anxiety if left alone at home. We've worked with him to gradually build up to being at home for an hour, or with another dog, but haven't been able to be consistent in his training in this area. The perfect home for Jax will have a large enclosed yard, one or more doggie companions, and loving humans around him! $50 donation to your local shelter required.

Tyson is a 3 year old Boxer and is the biggest goofball. He is good with kids, (our daughter has Autism) and gets along with other dogs. Tyson has also been around my parents’ 3 cats and does not chase or bark at them. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands (e.g., sit, wait, down). Tyson has a clean bill of health and has seen the vet for his yearly check ups. He loves attention and is a good boy :)

Story
Baileys is a confident pup whose markings are reminiscent of the beverage she gets her name from! Her cocoa and cream coat is enchanting. But like Baileys the beverage, moderation is essential with this young girl. Teaching her calm behaviors and taking frequent breaks will be very important for continuing her puppy education.Get 50% off your puppy adoption fee for successfully completing our Puppy Parent Orientation + quiz!

Story
Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.
She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.
Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Ella is now being fostered in Oakland, CA and her adoption fee is $275.00 Arrangements to meet our dogs occur after an application has been received. Please contact us at dogzonerescue@yahoo.com for more information about this great gal or for an application to adopt.

She likes walks and hikes, tolerates jogs/runs, and will play catch. She is house trained and very well-behaved. She responds to the following commands: bed, sit, paw (both, for shakes), potty, eat (she waits until instructed to approach her bowl). She does well on a leash with both a collar and a harness, and is fine with a muzzle. She loves to have her hips, belly, and ears scratched and loves to cuddle—she’s a big lover. She’s happy to spend the majority of the time lounging around, but loves walks and activity. She is not a barker, but does have a loud, protective bark that she uses rarely only in appropriate situations.
