Story
Meet Penny, a cuddly, mellow boxer ready to find her forever home. Penny is 5 years old, and is a petite 50 pounds. In foster care, Penny has been an excellent house guest! She is completely potty trained and has not had any accidents. Penny happily goes in her crate to rest and settles in while you’re home, and is learning that it’s okay to be left alone. Penny has excellent leash skills and enjoys a walk around the block with minimal pulling. Penny also enjoys a car ride, sitting quietly in the backseat looking out the windows. Penny’s energetic puppy days are behind her, and she prefers to lounge and calmy follow people around the house. At night, Penny proven to be trustworthy outside of her crate, snuggling up on a dog bed or couch, and she is also working on crate training at night. She has yet to chew or show any destructive behaviors! At the shelter, Penny tested well with both male and female dogs and is currently living happily with another dog. Penny would do well with an existing dog in the household or would be happy to be an only dog. Penny is wary around new people, but opens up within a few hours to show her cuddly side. She is eager to please, and has proven to be a quick learner. She would do well in a patient home that would give her time to open up and show her goofy side. Penny is patiently waiting to meet her forever family. If you are interested in adopting Penny, please complete our application at 1luckydogrescue.org or reach out to Patricia at olveiry@yahoo.com with a little information about the home you’d offer Penny.

To be considered for adoption, please submit an application in advance at https://www.dpsrescue.com/adopt/dog-application/. Adoption fee: $650     Meet Bumper Car — Your Future Best Friend   Bumper Car is a 3 month old Boxer/German Shepherd mix, currently around 20 lbs. and growing into a strong, handsome pup. He’s part of the “Fair” litter and was raised in a home with kids before coming into rescue, so he’s already comfortable around people and everyday life. He’s proving to be exactly what you hope for in a puppy — affectionate, social, and full of personality.     Personality: Happy, Loving, and Always Nearby   Bumper Car is a classic love-bug puppy. He naturally gravitates toward his people and wants to be part of whatever is going on — whether that’s playtime, hanging out, or just following you from room to room.   He’s got a sweet, easygoing demeanor and a playful side to match. He loves attention, enjoys being held, and settles in nicely for cuddles after he’s gotten his energy out.     Social & Play Style   One of the best things about Bumper Car is how well he does with other dogs. He’s currently living with dogs ranging from about 30 to 100 pounds and fits right in with all of them.   He’s playful without being overwhelming and reads other dogs well. He enjoys running around, engaging in play, and then moving on when it’s time to settle down.   He’s also not excessively barky, which makes him an easy addition to a home environment.     Training & Daily Life   For a young puppy, Bumper Car is already picking things up quickly:   Dog door: knows how to use it Potty training: off to a strong start with routine Food motivated: yes — which helps with training Crate training: still learning, but improving He’s a smart pup who will benefit from consistency and structure, but he’s already showing great instincts.     Energy Level   Bumper Car has that ideal puppy balance. He’s energetic and fun when it’s time to play, but he’s not nonstop chaos. After some activity, he’s more than happy to relax and hang out.   He can keep up with an active household but also knows how to settle, which is a great trait as he grows.     Why Bumper Car Stands Out   Bumper Car is the total package:   Great with dogs of all sizes Loves people and attention Affectionate and cuddly Not overly vocal Already showing strong house habits Happy, adaptable personality He’s had a strong start being raised in a home, and it shows in how comfortable and well-adjusted he is.     The Bottom Line   Bumper Car is the kind of puppy that makes life better — easy to love, easy to have around, and full of potential.   If you’re looking for a friendly, well-rounded puppy who will grow into a loyal companion, Bumper Car is a perfect fit.April 29, 2026, 2:21 pm

Story
Grayson is a big, white hunk of love! He is the biggest love bug and cuddly boy you will ever meet. He is a licking machine and will try to give you kisses any chance he gets. And don’t be deceived by his size, all 73 lbs. of this affectionate boxer boy loves to cuddle and act like he’s small enough to be a lap dog. He will play ball, go for walks/hikes, jog with you, or play in the backyard. He’s also a chill boy in the house and will lay in his bed or cuddle with you in yours. He can be active outside and mellow inside, best of both worlds! He loves going on outings and gets excited to go for car rides. Grayson is the ultimate adventure buddy and is always up for anything! Grayson does get a little anxious when left alone and would prefer someone who can hangout with him most of the day and take him on fun adventures! He is very food motivated so you cannot leave him unattended in a room with food or he will find it (and eat it lol)! Grayson loves all people, including kids, and would be a great addition to any family. He can be jumpy when he gets excited, so dog savvy children would be better for him. Grayson does get along with some dogs but can be reactive with others. He is mostly reactive when on the leash but if out in a yard he is very playful and friendly with dogs. We have found that he is great with small dogs male or female! He is a very good playmate and friend to the resident small female dog that lives with him. He can be selective when it comes to bigger male dogs. Overall, Grayson could thrive in a home without other dogs, with small dogs, with dogs who are submissive, or as an only dog. If you think Grayson could be a good fit for you, please apply online to meet him. He is awaiting his forever home that will embrace his loving, goofy self!

Story
Hank is a male Pit Bull mix. He is one year old, and currently weighs 52 pounds. He was brought to our shelter on 7/19/25 after being rescued from a neglectful situation. Despite the situation that he came from, he is a happy, outgoing young pup! He knows some basic training such as "sit" and "down," but still sometimes gets rambunctious and needs to be reminded not to jump when he gets excited. Because of this we're currently recommending that he go to a home with adults and teens. Hank has been vaccinated, and is already neutered and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $35, plus licensing (if applicable).
