I am a happy, wiggly pup who's looking for her forever home with people who will help me learn to be the best girl ever! I love leaning in for pets and will show my appreciation with the biggest tail wags ever. I'm still a big puppy and will need an experienced dog owner to help me learn basic manners. Because of this, I will need to be in a household with kids 12+. I wouldn't be a good fit with any cats or small animals, but I can play with dogs my size. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, September 9th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $500   Mrs Maisel is a 2 year old Boxer mix who was surrendered to our rescue when her prior home was no longer able to care for her and give her the time she needed. She has been an absolutely lovely pup around kids of all sizes and ages, dogs, and cats as well! She will make her future forever home so lucky. Below is a report from her foster. 'Mrs Maisel is a terrific dog! She adapted right away to our routine. We get up around 6:30 and let the dogs out to do their business. She gets breakfast around 7:30 AM and is a great eater. She then plays in the yard for a few hours before taking a long nap on the couch. She has dinner around 6:30 PM and then goes outside one more time before bed. She has not had an accident in our home since we have had her. Mrs Maisel loves to play but is respectful when other dogs need a break from go go go energy. She is calm when meeting members of the household and when on walks and responds very well to a no command. She would love to go to a home who has a medium-large dog who wants a playful companion because she could truly play 24/7 and still want to play more! She also LOVES a good belly rub. She would also do well in a home with runners and hikers, her tongue hangs out of her mouth after a good long play or activity session. Mrs Maisel is an option for a home who has had prior experience with dogs, especially those who have prior experience with larger breed dogs. If there are children in the home, they should be over the age of 8 and knock-over proof as Mrs Maisel can get excited and play bowling alley with little ones.    September 30, 2023, 4:32 pm

Energetic, loving, and goofy 9-year-old Ella is super sweet but needs a family with an experienced dog owner. A little under 2ft tall and 40 lbs, she's sleek and muscular. Ella is fully house-trained and very patient with the three cats she lives with. She's never lived with kids but is generally chill with the children in the neighborhood.   She loves her toys, playing fetch, tug of war games, following you around the house, and of course, napping. Ella wants to be involved in whatever you're doing and is alert to someone coming to the door. She is highly food motivated, Ella picks up new tricks quickly but can be stubborn and easily distracted, so she needs lots of consistent positive reinforcement to maintain behavioral changes. She has many opinions and she will let you know about them.   Ella also plays well with other dogs, although sometimes she has issues with dogs larger than she is, but is good at de-escalating potential conflicts. Ella really loves company so if her new people are gone for a full work day she will need a canine companion. She's leash trained and always excited to jump in the car to visit the park. Ella is a great dog looking for a home where she is loved and cherished. Would you be the one for her?" Hi Neighbors We’re heartbroken to say we are looking to re-home our sweet pup Winnie, a 70 lbs Boxer mix. Winnie is a lovebug who is wonderful around people, loves her toys, rolling in the grass and being close to her humans. She rarely barks, sleeps through the night, is house trained, doesn’t chew anything, and is up to date on vaccinations. She’s also a smart one! She learned to command to lay down in one afternoon! While she’s well behaved on walks and out in public (bars, restaurants, stores), she seems to be territorial of her own home/space. She would do best as the only dog in the home.
