All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.September 1, 2026, 2:10 am

Story
Meet Hope — a beautiful Boxer girl who has already overcome so much and is finally ready for the happy ending she deserves. ❤️Hope is a 7-year-old purebred Boxer, but please don’t let that number fool you. This girl has the heart, energy, and playful spirit of a much younger Boxer. She bounces, prances, dances, and barrels through life with a zest that is impossible not to smile at. She is the kind of dog whose happiness is contagious.Hope came to Critter Cavalry Rescue during a heartbreaking time. Her beloved owner became critically ill and was ultimately unable to care for her, and when Hope came into rescue, she weighed only 35 pounds and was painfully underweight. Her owner’s greatest wish was that she would be given the best life possible, and that is exactly the promise we made to him.Today, Hope is a healthy 46 pounds and absolutely thriving in her foster home. She is currently living with several other Boxers and has fit right in as though she has always been part of the crew. She is wonderfully social and genuinely enjoys making friends. Dogs, children, adults — if you are willing to be her friend, Hope is ready to love you!Hope is also a very good girl in the house. She is completely potty trained, knows her basic commands, and is so well mannered that she does not need to be crated when left home alone. She is easygoing, affectionate, and responds well to gentle guidance. But what really makes Hope special is her spirit. She has been through a major life change, yet she has come through it with her joyful personality completely intact. She still believes the world is a wonderful place and that every day is an opportunity to play, explore, and love someone new.Hope would love an active Boxer-loving family who will give her plenty of playtime, attention, and opportunities to enjoy life. Another dog who appreciates a playful companion would be wonderful, especially one who doesn’t mind her endless Boxer enthusiasm!Hope has spent enough time waiting for her tomorrow. Now she needs the forever family who will give her the bright future her name promises. She is fully vetted, microchipped, thriving, and ready to make the next chapter of her life the very best one yet.If you think Hope could be the joyful, energetic Boxer girl your family has been waiting for, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 1, 2026, 12:44 pm

Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 1, 2026, 12:44 pm
