Hi there! I’m Willa! I’m looking for a home of my own in time for the holidays! I’m a sweet and playful 3-4-year-old boxer mix, weighing in at a lovable 60 pounds. I’m super, super friendly, and I love playing with other dogs, but would probably do best in a home as the only pup. I was patiently waiting at a shelter in Tennessee, but it’s gotten crowded because of all the dogs displaced by Hurricane Helene. I came in a stray, and nobody has come for me, so now I'm thrilled that I was lucky enough to come to NJ and find you! I am currently living with a foster family with older kids and I love them, but its not a forever kind of thing and I'm still on the hunt for my fur-ever. I'm looking for a very patient and low energy quiet home, as I can sometime get anxious (especially when being outside with new and loud noises - I'm still learning the ropes!) I'd also thrive in a home with a yard to run free in but prefer to hang inside mostly. I recently learned how fun toys and balls can be. And then there's the nightly couch cuddle I can't resist. I do great in the crate when my family is not home and at night. I also know some basic manners like sit, paw and leave it. Lizzie is a special sweet shy girl who loves other dogs and is looking for a home where she will feel safe and secure!This 3 year old boxer mix spent the past several months running loose near a dangerously busy road, wandering between businesses but too scared to approach anyone. Our friends at Buddha Dog Rescue and Recovery were able to trap her and she immediately melted and clung to her rescuer for security once she knew she was safe. She's very timid and army crawls up to new people tentatively especially men, but once she bonds she turns into a happy silly goofy playful boxer. She LOVES other dogs and her tail instantly wags when she sees them, and she definitely needs a home with another compatible doggie friend to help her feel secure. She is easily spooked and may try to bolt when startled or in new situations, definitely a flight risk so making sure she's securely leashed at all times is especially important. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own!
