Story
Ringo is about 4 years old. We took him in when his person passed away. Ringo is currently working on his weight loss journey (76lbs ) and is already seeing great progress with his foster mom's coaching and daycare play time. He enjoys walks and playing tug with his toys and is doing well with the other dogs in his foster home. Little kids and cats are unknown at this time. Ringo is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Application can be found here: https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old. Story
DOG SELECTIVE and no small dogs Mocha (3 years old) went to the door of a house asking for help. She was very underweight and had signs of abuse. She still had the most loving spirit. She is extremely friendly to people and loves getting attention and cuddles. She doesn't like cats and is dog selective. She is energetic and loves her toys, bed, and her comforters/blankets. She loves treats and walks. She would do well with a fenced yard where she can run and play. Mocha is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Story
Meet Hermes This beautiful brindle little man is Hermes, and we believe he’s just about 1 year old. Two weeks ago, Hermes was found running loose in Lake Station. Animal Control couldn’t pick him up due to jurisdiction issues, which left this poor boy stuck — cold, alone, and with nowhere to go. Hermes is a short-haired terrier, not built to survive winter weather on his own. Thankfully, a good Samaritan stepped in, took him out of the cold, and kept him safe while efforts were made to find his owner. After two weeks, sadly, no one came forward. So today, we say — Welcome to the Guardians, you beautiful boy. Hermes has already shown us just how special he is: &#226&#156&#133 Potty trained Gets along great with the resident dog Chased the cat a little (terrier gonna terrier ) Absolutely loves kids Thriving in a foster home environment A huge thank-you to Mike and Rebecca for picking him up, keeping him safe, and opening their home to foster him. This is how lives are saved — one compassionate yes at a time. Hermes is now fully vetted, microchipped, and today he proudly took the “No Puppies for Me” pledge with his Neuter Is Cuter surgery. Thank you to our amazing vet partners at Coyne Veterinary Center for getting him in so quickly and taking such great care of him. &#226&#156&#168 Hermes is ready to find his forever family. A warm couch. A family to love. A life where he never has to wonder if help is coming. Stay tuned — this little guy’s next chapter is just beginning Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. Story
Lovie is a very sweet dog who loves cuddling, but she does pee when excited especially when meeting new people. Lovie would do great in a home with kids as she does adore them and her favorite time is playtime. She loves cheese yak chews and endless treats. Lovie does like to chew so dog beds have come and gone.

Story
&#226&#156&#168 Why Hasn’t Gigi Been Adopted? &#226&#156&#168 (Spoiler: It’s not because of her.) Sometimes the best dogs wait the longest — not because they aren’t wonderful, but because they’re waiting for the right home. After 3 YEARS in rescue, we want to answer the question we hear the most: &#226&#157&#147 “Why hasn’t she been adopted yet?” Myth: Something must be wrong with her. Truth: Gigi is sweet, affectionate, loyal, and deeply bonded to her people. Here’s who she really is: Cuddle Bug — She loves climbing on the couch and laying close to her person. Belly Rub Champion — Roll over = automatic request for love. Adventure Ready — Walk days are her favorite days. Playful — Loves chasing balls and sometimes brings them back for more. Loyal & Protective — She wants to keep her home safe (very normal for her breed mix). Smart & Observant — Once she learns someone belongs, she relaxes beautifully. She lives with another dog now and does well with proper introductions and structure. What she needs &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A calmer household &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Adults or older respectful kids &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Someone who wants a true companion &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A family who understands loyalty is a gift Dogs like Gigi don’t love halfway. They love completely. And when she chooses you — you’ll know. Northwest Indiana &#226&#156&#133 Fully vetted 4-5 years old Apply to adopt: http://jotform.us/form/43196636952162 Please share — her family might be one share away. Three years is long enough. It’s her turn. #AdoptGigi #LongTermRescue #MythBuster #AdoptDontShop #GuardiansOfTheGreenMileThank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc.
