Topeaka, Kansas. - Valkyrie (Val) 5 years old (as of July 2024) needs a new home that doesnt have any cats and experience with large breed dogs. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO FOR ALL INFO ON THIS BEAUTY. She’s 137 pounds, No illness or health issues, Up to date on all shots, SPAYED, Up to date on flea/tick and heartworm meds as well, microchipped. Owner has all her vet records. Nails need to be clipped but otherwise well groomed and very healthy. Unsure how she is with children since she hasnt been with them really. She’s great with other dogs, NOT good with cats (reason for rehoming), With strangers she constantly barks at them but hasn’t ever charged or bit anyone (she needs an experienced family that can change that/train that out of her). She doesn’t jump, Worst quality is the barking and fence aggression (again, the experienced saint owner can fix this quite easily). She has food aggression with the dogs but that is easily fixed by feeding her by herself. Val's best quality is how sweet and loving she is to my husband and me. She’s very loyal and always wants to be right there with us. She’s still very playful and energetic at times. She is good on walks but does pull some and will bark at any person she sees when on the walk. Again, all her bad qualities are easily addressed and fixed with the right home that has experience with training. In our house she lives around the living room, kitchen, and mud room. We have a fenced in yard, it’s a half acre in size - She does require a fenced in yard. Very well potty trained, never any accidents and she absolutely LOVES THE CAR!! Val ears are are healthy, never been any issues there and brushed and groomed consistantly. Her favorite things is playing outside with the hose, tug with you, wrestling and playing with our other dog. Val knows sit, lay, and shake commands. Val's fears lightning and wind, she hides in the bathroom during storms and fireworks.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Coco just turned 1! She is such a sweet puppy with lots of energy who loves to go on walks and play with her toys. Her original goal was to be a service animal but our child's allergies are preventing this. She has been around children her whole life including those in wheelchairs. She loves to be petted and to snuggle! She will come with her large pink kennel that she uses when things are too rowdy for her and she wants to feel safe or to calm down. She has also been around farm animals with no problems. She does love to chase squirrels! It would be best if there was a fenced yard at her new home for her to be able to run and play safely.

Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Jessie is a very friendly lab and will make someone a wonderful pet. Unfortunately she likes to greet the UPS and FedEx trucks when they make deliveries. She lost her right rear leg while running around one of the trucks. However, this hasn't slowed her down at all and she's just as active as ever. Due to our business, we have a lot of traffic and we fear she will be hit again. Jessie is trained to a perimeter collar, but we cannot restrict it enough to keep her out of the driveway. That is the reason we are wanting to find her a loving home where she will be safe.

I have two female puppies. They're half german shepherd and half lab retriever. One is very active and the other is very shy. Ive been trying to teach them to not jump up on my legs and so far they never jump up on me, but with other people they might but they're still young so they can easily be trained right now.

Story
Fergus, a charming Coonhound, is now a transformed and happy dog at the shelter, thriving on love and attention. He is well-behaved, enjoys the company of other dogs, and appears to be comfortable around children. However, due to his hunting instincts, it is recommended not to introduce him to cats. Overall, he is a very sweet dog and would love a forever family to call his own. If you have questions about Fergus, please contact us or feel free to come by the shelter during open hours.

Story
Bailey Bug, a stunning black and white pit mix, was abandoned at the shelter. She's a beautiful girl, approximately 8-10 months old, and is very affectionate towards people. However, she doesn't seem to get along with other dogs and wouldn't be suitable for a home with cats. If you should have questions regarding Bailey Bug please feel free to contact us. We also recommend you come visit this sweet girl at Jefferson County Humane Society during open hours.
