Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. HELLO FRIENDS! My name is Bogey, and I'm a 3-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix looking for my forever family. If you're searching for a laid-back little buddy who specializes in cuddles, naps, and toy destruction, I might just be your guy! My favorite thing in the whole world is spending time with my people. Whether we're snuggled up on the couch or relaxing around the house, I'm happiest when I'm close to my humans. I also happen to be an expert toy de-stuffer. Seriously, if there were professional competitions for removing stuffing from toys, I'd be bringing home trophies. When I'm not perfecting my craft, I love a good game of tug with my people. That's one of my absolute favorite ways to play! When playtime is over, you'll usually find me enjoying a nice nap on my dog bed or stretched out on the couch. I take relaxation very seriously. In fact, I've been so dedicated to my chill lifestyle that I've packed on a few extra pounds. I'm currently working on that with a healthy diet and daily walks with my foster family. Gotta get those steps in! I get along well with other dogs, although I'm not much of a playgroup kind of guy. I prefer to peacefully coexist and do my own thing. The one thing I won't tolerate? Another dog trying to steal food from my bowl. A gentleman has to draw the line somewhere! I'm a very sweet boy who seems to love everyone I meet. I walk nicely on a leash, appear to be well housebroken, and I'm crate trained. The good news is that I've also shown that I do very well when left alone and don't really need to be crated. My ideal home would be with someone who is around a lot and looking for a calm, affectionate little companion to share life with. If you're searching for a loyal cuddle buddy, a champion toy de-stuffer, and an all-around good little man, I think we'd make a great team. I'm up to date on my vaccines, neutered, and ready to start my next chapter. I can't wait to meet you!  All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. June 8, 2026, 8:46 pm

Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
I have had king for a couple years now. He is three years old. He’s a very loving, very very energetic dog. He loves people after a good introduction. I love him a lot, but unfortunately, under certain circumstances I will not be able to keep him. He has some behavioral issues that would make the situation worse. He has separation issues, barking when I leave him alone. He eventually settles after a while. But that is not something that will work where I will be going. He is food aggressive with other dogs, I am unsure if he is with people as he’s always been fine with me. He can live with another dog in the home as long as they are introduced well, and they are fed separately and monitored together. Outside of the home he is reactive to other dogs. Growls and barks and pulls, listens to a sit command but will just whine. I believe the reactivity is something that could be helped greatly. I believe he could be an amazing dog to someone if he was in an experienced person’s ownership

Story
Meet Bones!  Some dogs just need someone willing to see the world a little differently. Bones is one of those dogs. At just over a year old and around 80 pounds, Bones is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees/Heeler mix with a big heart, a joyful spirit, and a smile that lights up a room. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, on heartworm prevention, and ready to find the family he's been waiting for. Bones is deaf, but don't let that fool you—he is incredibly smart and highly trainable. He already knows hand signals for 'come' and 'sit' and has shown just how capable he is of learning. He loves people, thrives on interaction, and wakes up every day excited for whatever adventure comes next. Raised by an experienced rescuer, Bones has lived around multiple dogs and has zero history of aggression toward other dogs. He loves canine companionship and enjoys playtime with dogs of various sizes. Because he is a big, enthusiastic boy who doesn't always realize his own size and strength, very tiny or fragile dogs may not be the best fit simply because his play style can be exuberant. Bones has spent much of his life outdoors but is also comfortable spending time indoors when supervised. He adapts well and enjoys being part of the family. Because Bones is deaf, he cannot hear growls, hisses, or other warning signals from animals around him. Unfortunately, there have been incidents involving cats, and he should not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals. This is not a reflection of aggression, but it does mean he needs a home where everyone can be kept safe.  The decision to rehome Bones was made with tremendous love and care. He is not a problem dog. He is a special dog who deserves a home that understands his unique needs and appreciates everything that makes him wonderful. If you have a soft spot for dogs who are a little different, a little extraordinary, and completely deserving of a chance, Bones may be exactly the companion you've been looking for..Please email Critter Cavalry at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 8, 2026, 7:16 pm
