So I came from the high kill pound, scared and a little overwhelmed last spring. They basically have to kill almost all the dogs and pups that enter there....except there some very very lucky dogs and pups who get OUT of there- because of rescues! And they picked MEEEEEEEE!!! So I am here growing and playing and eating and running and LIVING! I am ready for the furever family who will love me! I am an ACTIVE girl, good with other male dogs. I am really best as an only dog in a home or with a male buddy who is medium energy. My family needs to be strong doggy leaders so I don't take over the "helm" in my home. Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato.
