Story
Mabel is a very sweet and friendly dog with people. She is playful and loving and would love to spend all her time with you. She has an unknown history, but I do know she was found on the streets and has been in a shelter before. She is very dog reactive, and can't be in a home with other dogs. I adopted her from someone who was moving in with a partner, and Mabel didn't get along with the other dogs. She had a cat companion there, so she should be fine with cats. Although, I haven't seen it for myself. She's been around my nephew who is eight, and did very well. She likes men and women. She has NEVER growled or tried to bite me. If she doesn't like what you're doing to her, she'll struggle but has never been aggressive. She's potty trained, knows basic commands, and is in good health. I'm too busy with work and can't give her the time/attention she needs. She would do well in a home with multiple people who could give her attention or someone who is home more than I am.

Story
Moxie is Sponsored by Casey JohnsonMeet Moxie,A charming little lady with a lovable mix of French Bulldog and English Bulldog traits. Energetic and full of personality, Moxie arrived carrying some challenges in how she interacts with her world. She often uses her mouth to communicate, a habit stemming from not being taught bite inhibition. The mouthing behavior has not been due to true aggression; she simply treats her mouth like a thumb. Every day, she’s making great strides—learning to walk nicely on a leash, displaying polite behavior when entering and exiting her kennel, and grasping the idea of 'placing.' She’s also beginning to understand basic commands and is becoming more respectful around other dogs, though this progress takes time. While she can sometimes escalate and mouth quickly, she’s learning to calm down and de-escalate. Currently, she’s not suited for a home with children under 15 or with other dogs, but she’s making excellent progress on potty training when kept on a strict schedule. Moxie is a hilarious, affectionate, and playful girl who craves kindness and a best friend. Though she may need a little patience and love to become her best self, she truly deserves the world. Moxie is currently in foster with K9 Solutions. Potential adopters are strongly encouraged to continue training through the transition of adoption to best set her up for success. If you are interested in meeting Moxie, please submit an application. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule a meet and greet appointment. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 11 am – 6pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm. Story
Meet JoseyJosey is a beautiful female Australian Shepherd with a sensitive soul and a heart full of love waiting to bloom. She first came to the shelter as a stray and spent months evading rescue efforts, too frightened to trust the people trying to help her. When she was finally brought to safety, it was clear that Josey had been through a lot and would need time to learn that the world can be kind. When you first meet her, she may seem nervous or unsure. The world can feel a little overwhelming to Josey at times, and when she’s frightened her first instinct is to run. Because of this, she will need a secure, fully fenced yard and a family who understands that off-leash adventures won’t be the right fit for her—especially during her first several months in a new home.Josey is looking for a calm, patient, and experienced dog owner who will let her move at her own pace. She needs someone who understands that trust is something special to be earned, not rushed. For the person willing to give her that time and understanding, the reward is extraordinary.Once Josey feels safe, she forms a deep and devoted bond with her person. She becomes incredibly affectionate, offering sweet, gentle kisses and happily sticking close by your side. More than anything, Josey wants to be near her people—her safe place. This lovely girl may need patience at first, but for the right home, she will return that patience with a lifetime of quiet loyalty and deep love. Josey isn’t just looking for a home—she’s looking for her person. And for someone willing to give her the time she deserves, she will be worth every moment. If you believe in the beauty of earning a shy dog’s trust, Josey may be the perfect companion for you.If you are interested in meeting Josey, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm, Sunday 11am – 4pm.If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment.
