Story
Hi, I'm Kota! Ready for My Next Big Adventure?🐾Hey there! For 3 years, I’ve lived a good life after being adopted from Ark Pet Rescue. I’m a great childhood playmate, professional squirrel patrol, and king of "keep-away." Sadly, my family is moving to a place that doesn't allow dogs, so I need a new family to be part of.Why you’ll love me: • Kid-Friendly: I love kids! I have a proven track record of being fun and caring around children. • Playful: I love to zoom around the yard and make you laugh. Playing keep-away or tug-of-war is my absolute favorite activity. • Watchdog: I take safety seriously and will bark at passing dogs or strangers. Don't worry—I just have a big voice! Once guests come inside, I just need a few minutes to sniff, then I'm calm and ready for belly rubs.I’m looking for a home where I can stretch my legs, play, and give you a lifetime of loyalty. Could that be with you?

Story
Meet Dukota — a handsome Boxer boy with the perfect mix of goofy charm and laid-back companionship! While Boxers are known for their endless energy, Dukota is a little more mellow than most of his breed. He still loves getting out for long walks, playtime, and consistent exercise, but he’s just as happy relaxing by your side afterward. This athletic guy has a playful personality that will keep you smiling, whether he’s making silly faces, showing off his zoomies, or leaning in for affection. Dukota thrives in a calm, predictable home where he can feel comfortable and settled. Because he prefers a quieter environment, he would do best with older children or in an adult-only home.Dukota can be selective with his canine friends and is reactive to some dogs. However, he previously lived successfully with other dogs and did well with them. He would likely do best either as the only dog in the home or with calm, friendly dogs given slow and proper introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a goofy streak and a heart full of love, Dukota may just be your perfect match! If you are interested in meeting Dukota, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm (Summer Hours). Story
Meet Ladybug 🐞Ladybug is a 6-year-old red Heeler with a story that has left her heart a little broken. Her beloved human became ill, went into acute care, and sadly passed away. During that time, Ladybug was left alone at home for nearly two months, with only brief visits for food. By the time she came to us, she was living in fear and survival mode. At her lowest point, we couldn’t safely touch her.So, we slowed down. Two dedicated staff members began sitting quietly outside her kennel each day—no pressure, no expectations—just calm, steady presence. For three weeks, they simply existed alongside her, offering patience, consistency, and silent companionship. And slowly… Ladybug began to trust again.Eventually, she allowed them to enter her space. Then came a collar. A leash. And finally, a walk outside to feel the fresh air again.Ladybug has made wonderful strides in recent weeks. She is becoming more comfortable being handled by shelter staff, and the circle of people she trusts continues to grow, with more staff now able to safely work with her. She can go in and out of her kennel, enjoy walks, and even accept affection. While Ladybug is making great progress, healing is not always linear. Some days she may regress a little or be more unpredictable as she continues to adjust. She needs a patient, understanding person who will give her the time and grace she needs to keep building confidence. We know finding the right home for Ladybug won’t be easy. But we also know she deserves it.She is looking for a very special person—someone compassionate, steady, and willing to meet her exactly where she is: scared, unsure, and still learning that the world can be safe again. With time, we believe she can become the loving, loyal companion she once was.The shelter is also very open to a foster-to-adopt situation so Ladybug can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who she truly is in a home environment. Once she’s out of the chaos, her loving and loyal side really comes through. If you have the heart and patience to give Ladybug the second chance she deserves, please reach out to Pam at the shelter.Let’s help Ladybug find her way home.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.

Story
Meet Olive!Olive is an adorable mixed breed puppy with a heart full of love and a playful spirit! We aren’t quite sure what breeds make up this sweet girl, but we suspect there may be some Pointer and hound mix such as Italian Greyhound/Whippet in the mix. Olive loves cuddles, playtime, and exploring the world around her with puppy curiosity and enthusiasm.Like any puppy, Olive is still learning all the important dog basics and will need a family ready to commit to training, socialization, patience, and consistency as she grows. Puppyhood comes with plenty of fun and laughter, but also a little chaos, too — think zoomies, toy explosions, potty training, and the occasional chewed shoe! Olive is looking for a family ready to embrace both the adorable moments and the work that comes with raising a puppy. In return, she promises lots of love, snuggles, and happy tail wags.If you are interested in meeting Olive, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm, Sunday 11 am-4 pm (Summer Hours).
