Story
Meet Ladybug 🐞Ladybug is a 6-year-old red Heeler with a story that has left her heart a little broken. Her beloved human became ill, went into acute care, and sadly passed away. During that time, Ladybug was left alone at home for nearly two months, with only brief visits for food. By the time she came to us, she was living in fear and survival mode. At her lowest point, we couldn’t safely touch her.So, we slowed down. Two dedicated staff members began sitting quietly outside her kennel each day—no pressure, no expectations—just calm, steady presence. For three weeks, they simply existed alongside her, offering patience, consistency, and silent companionship. And slowly… Ladybug began to trust again.Eventually, she allowed them to enter her space. Then came a collar. A leash. And finally, a walk outside to feel the fresh air again.Ladybug has made wonderful strides in recent weeks. She is becoming more comfortable being handled by shelter staff, and the circle of people she trusts continues to grow, with more staff now able to safely work with her. She can go in and out of her kennel, enjoy walks, and even accept affection. While Ladybug is making great progress, healing is not always linear. Some days she may regress a little or be more unpredictable as she continues to adjust. She needs a patient, understanding person who will give her the time and grace she needs to keep building confidence. We know finding the right home for Ladybug won’t be easy. But we also know she deserves it.She is looking for a very special person—someone compassionate, steady, and willing to meet her exactly where she is: scared, unsure, and still learning that the world can be safe again. With time, we believe she can become the loving, loyal companion she once was.The shelter is also very open to a foster-to-adopt situation so Ladybug can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who she truly is in a home environment. Once she’s out of the chaos, her loving and loyal side really comes through. If you have the heart and patience to give Ladybug the second chance she deserves, please reach out to Pam at the shelter.Let’s help Ladybug find her way home.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Please follow the instructions on each pet profile.

Story
Hi, I'm Kota! Ready for My Next Big Adventure?🐾Hey there! For 3 years, I’ve lived a good life after being adopted from Ark Pet Rescue. I’m a great childhood playmate, professional squirrel patrol, and king of "keep-away." Sadly, my family is moving to a place that doesn't allow dogs, so I need a new family to be part of.Why you’ll love me: • Kid-Friendly: I love kids! I have a proven track record of being fun and caring around children. • Playful: I love to zoom around the yard and make you laugh. Playing keep-away or tug-of-war is my absolute favorite activity. • Watchdog: I take safety seriously and will bark at passing dogs or strangers. Don't worry—I just have a big voice! Once guests come inside, I just need a few minutes to sniff, then I'm calm and ready for belly rubs.I’m looking for a home where I can stretch my legs, play, and give you a lifetime of loyalty. Could that be with you?

Meet the dynamic duo Count and Stellaluna!Count and Stellaluna are a bonded pair of Chug mixes looking for a home where they can stay together. These two have a special connection and rely on each other for comfort, companionship, and confidence.Count is estimated to be around 10 years old and is the sweet, easygoing gentleman of the pair. He loves being carried around, soaking up attention, and curling up for snuggles with his favorite people. His affectionate nature makes him an instant favorite with everyone he meets.Stellaluna estimated to be around 5 years old and is a sassy little lady with a big personality. While she can be wary of strangers and takes time to warm up to new people, Count helps her feel safe and secure when she's feeling uncertain. She will thrive with patient adopters who understand that trust takes time and are willing to let her adjust at her own pace.Together, Count and Stellaluna make a wonderful pair. They enjoy cozy naps, spending time with their people, and providing each other with reassurance and companionship. Their bond is truly heartwarming, and they are happiest when they are together.Count and Stellaluna are searching for a calm, understanding home that will cherish them both and give them the love and security they deserve.
