Ms. Lady is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix who is super sweet, friendly with people and dogs and who would probably would be fine with cats because of her easy-going disposition. She is crate trained and housetrained but could use more leash training - she is rarely leashed as she has a big beautiful backyard to run around in her foster home in Texas! She is very low maintenance, low to medium energy, and is in a foster home with 30 other dogs - she had that easy going, typical Pyr personality. Lady is about 4 years old and weighs 68 pounds. She is already fully vetted and she's healthy, heartworm negative, has no tick borne diseases and is on monthly preventatives, etc. Lady is just happy to be in a home where someone is treating her well and she does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from. She came into a Texas shelter with another Pyr mix (possibly her brother) - both were owner surrendered because the owners were letting them run loose and they did not want to pay the fine. The brother went to a local Austin rescue and Lady is now with NorthStar. He followed a hiker home and was brought to animal control where he demonstrated no aggression toward people or other dogs. This boy is EXTREMELY loving and will make an excellent family dog. He will stand head-to-head with a person if he’s called to do so but when he does jump up, he bears all his weight on his own back legs. We gave this gem of a girl the name of Pearl - pearl because she is precious, even though her former owner didn't think so. Pearl and her brother (already adopted) were left behind by their owner when they moved. They were just discarded and left to fend for themselves after being used to having a family. It's still hard for us to understand why people would do this. Luckily we were able to find Pearl and a wonderful temporary foster. Pearl is a pyrenees mix who the vet estimates to be about 5 years old. She weighs 53 pounds. Pearl has received her vaccinations and has tested negative for heartworm. She was treated for anaplasmosis and has been spayed. The vet trimmed her toenails while she was under sedation (for the spay). Poor girl - they had grown so long that they deeply embedded themselves into her paw pads. But she's all healed now. Now that she is receiving proper care and attention we just need to find her a forever home. She is described as being a calm, super sweet, wonderful, and friendly girl. She's very loving and enjoys hugs and giving out kisses, She would be perfect for a family looking for a calm dog. She loves to go on walks; but being a running partner is not for her. She doesn't know how to play with toys, but she loves puzzles that involve treats. She's treat and food motivated, which is a big help when it comes to training. She knows sit, come, and responds to her name. Is your household looking for a precious gem like Pearl? If yes, please apply to give her a happy, loving home.
