Story
Meet Penny! Penny is a 4-5-year-old, 75-pound Great Pyrenees or St Bernard and probably a border collie or other breed mix. She is a beautiful and loving dog who is looking for a calm home that she can call her own. Penny would prefer a quiet home life with a comfy bed and lots of snuggles. She walks well on and off the leash, and has great recall off-leash. Penny is house-trained, crate trained, and knows to sit and stay. She loves riding in the car and does fantastic at the groomers. Penny adores being petted and loves people. She has been around children 10 years old and up and has been great! She has done fine with her doggie friends, but she is definitely a people dog! Penny had bloodwork as well as a dental cleaning at her vet visit. She did need a broken tooth extracted. Interested in becoming a forever home for Penny? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Penny. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Penny the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Meet Peppermint "Patty"! Patty is a 17.5-pound 12-week-old puppy. We think Patty is a Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Sheperd mix, but she may even have a bit of Labrador Retriever in her! Patty is very sweet and very playful. She loves to be loved on but equally loves romping around with the other doggies. Patty has done well with all of the friends she has met, children and dogs alike. She is already crate-trained and doing really well on leash training. Patty still needs a bit of help with potty training and more work on a leash to make walks fun and exciting! Interested in becoming a forever home for Patty? Story
Meet cuddly Mario. He is a brown, dusted with black, and white Great Pyrenees mix born 12/25/2022. He is going to be big! He is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and has been given a ProHeart 6 for heartworm protection. His adoption donation is $450.00 and the transport fee $165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Ms. Lady is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix who is super sweet, friendly with people and dogs and who would probably would be fine with cats because of her easy-going disposition. She is crate trained and housetrained but could use more leash training - she is rarely leashed as she has a big beautiful backyard to run around in her foster home in Texas! Lady has been thriving in foster as she recovers from Valley Fever. Although she has no symptoms, she must stay on the meds until her bloodwork comes back negative with a few more months on the meds. Lady is already fully vetted and other than the Valley Fever she is healthy, heartworm negative, has no tick borne diseases and is on monthly preventatives, etc.   Lady is about 4 years old and weighs 68 pounds. She is not a fence jumper, although she is not left outside unsupervised. This gal is just happy to be in a home where someone is treating well and she does not have to worry about where her next meal is coming from. She came into a Texas shelter with another Pyr mix (possibly her brother) - both were owner surrendered because owners were letting them run loose and they did not want to pay the fine. The brother went to a local Austin rescue and Lady is now with NorthStar. If you've always wanted to have a Great Pyrenees in your family, just fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org and ask to meet this sweet gal!April 19, 2024, 1:17 pm
