Story
History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. These kiddos are SO sweet and already have a great start at basic obedience and mannerisms. A Note from the Foster: This sweet and shy cuddle-bug is Verde, but we like to call him Bear. He’s not the most confident pup, so he’s looking to join a family that can give him confidence with clear directions and boundaries. Verde is great with meeting other dogs! He’s established a friendly relationship with our resident dog. They love playing with each other, taking naps together, and finding ways to earn treats. Not only is he great with meeting with other dogs, he’s also a wonderful playmate for humans! He has experience living with a younger child and has done wonderfully. But Verde is still learning what is appropriate play, so he can use more strength than he knows when playing with humans. Verde is about 1-1.5 years old, so he’s still got puppy energy and behaviors that we’re working on. He’s doing really well learning how to walk calmly on a leash, proper ways to play with humans, and to not jump on people he is excited to meet. But he’s a fast learner and is already potty trained, crate trained, knows how to “sit”, wait for his food, and is starting to learn to play fetch with a frisbee. One note about Verde’s is that during a recent check up appointment, the veterinarian found that he has a heart murmur. At the moment, we are keeping a close eye on him and his health, but he seems to be a happy and healthy pup. Verde is the sweetest pup and he’s looking for a family that has time to lead him with confidence.

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: CeCe is the sweetest, happiest, and friendliest little girl! She loves people and other dogs. She warmed up very quickly in our house and loves to play and snuggle. She is easy-going and curious. She is doing well with potty training. She prefers to go outside and almost always goes outside when we put her out. She just hasn't yet figured out how to tell us when she needs to go outside (she has only been with us for four day though at the time of writing this!) CeCe loves following the big dogs around, getting them to play with her, and snuggling with them on the couch. She also loves doing the same with the humans in our house (including the two teenagers!). I think she would also do well around small children. We don't have cats, but she is cautiously curious around our tortoise and, given that she is very young, I think she would do fine in a house with a cat. CeCe sleeps well in her crate at night and sleeps from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am without making a peep. CeCe is VERY food motivated and this will help with training. She is smart and has been learning a lot by observing our resident dogs. For more information, head to our website at www.cocosheartdogrescue.org

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Hi! My name is Nova! I'm a sweet puppy who is looking for my forever home! Let me tell you about myself to see if you think I'm a good fit for your family! 🐾 First things first, I'm a sensitive girl. My foster mom says that I'm dramatic. But here's the thing, I just like to be where she is and I don't see the problem with that. I just have a really big heart and prefer to spend my time with others. I love spending my day playing with my litter mates and chewing on toys. I have some foster siblings who like to play with me as well. It's been good for me to learn how to respect them because I know they are older than me. Now onto eating. Man, do I love dinner time, breakfast time, and lunch time! You name it, I'll eat it. My foster mom allows me a snack during the day too which I appreciate because being a puppy is tough stuff. I don't have any belly issues and always finish my bowl. At night, I sleep in a pen with my litter mates. I get a little sad that my foster mom, dad, and siblings go to bed in the other room. I have a LOT to say about going to bed and I wish they wouldn't leave me in the pen. But after a little bit, I realize how tired I actually am and I go right to bed. I wake up just in time for my foster mom to start her day! Boy am I excited to see her when she comes to get me. Now to the hard stuff. Since I live in a house and not outside in the cold anymore, my foster mom says I need to learn to "potty outside". Overall, I've been doing a great job, she says! So far, no poopy accidents inside however, I do sometimes forget about the rule and pee a little. I'm working really hard at remembering what I'm supposed to do. The good news is, I'm eager to please and want to make her happy so I will do all I can to follow the rules. My foster mom says that I have to go to the "vet" to make sure that I am healthy. I mean, I feel healthy but she said it's necessary since I've never been. I'm sure I'll be just fine since I have been a healthy girl so far but I guess it's always good to double check. Overall, I'm your basic, sweet puppy who is looking to have the best life! I promise you snuggles, kisses, and I'll be your best friend. If you want to meet me, just let Coco's Heart now. My foster mom says you can come over and get to see how adorable I am in person and smell my "puppy breath" that she gushes about. With love, Nova For more information, head to our website at www.cocosheartdogrescue.org
