She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
Hey there! My name's Buddy, a spunky black lab born in February 2022. Life threw me a curveball early on, and I wasn't walking by 4 weeks old. My amazing foster mom took me in at 5.5 months, and together we started my journey to recovery. My back legs needed some TLC. My right leg had almost no muscle and wouldn't bend, so I swung it around. But my left leg is my champion – it's got more muscle and movement. Since then, I've had some physical therapy, including lots of toe wiggling and playful games (I may have licked my foster mom's face a few times – it's ticklish!). The experts say keeping my left leg moving is key, and maybe even a professional therapist could help me! I can walk/hop pretty well when I take it slow, but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me, and I scoot around like a happy wiggle worm. Here's the thing: because of my walking challenges, I'm not potty trained yet. My foster mom has figured out a cute trick – my tail sticks straight out when I gotta go potty, so she has a few seconds to help me out. Most of the time, I don't quite realize I need to go, and I just keep on moving. Plus, slippery floors are a no-go for me unless I have a good grip with my back leg. Stairs are okay, but I might need a hand going down (those rails can be tricky!). But here's the best part: My spirit is unstoppable! I shower everyone with love, from kids and adults to playful pups (haven't met any cats yet). I bark in my kennel – for attention, food time, bathroom breaks, and just because! So I shouldn't go somewhere with shared walls. Car rides are a breeze, as long as I'm safely tethered or crated. Oh, and I come with a special "Help Em Up" harness for all our future adventures! So, what do you say? Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special needs pup with a heart of gold? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi all! My name is Bender but my friends call me Charlie. I am a fun-loving guy looking for my forever family! I was recently returned to rescue because I grew bigger than my previous family was expecting me to get. Their loss because bigger just means more of me to love you with! I am currently about 35 lbs and my mom thinks I’m some sort of yellow lab mix so at 7 months old I will probably still have a little growing to do. I am your typical happy-go-lucky pup who loves to give kisses, cuddle on the couch and play with (destroy) toys. More than anything I love to play and run around with my foster brother as I have lots of energy to burn off. I seem to be good with dogs and people so far although I sometimes bark at them out the window. I met some kids at an event and LOVED them! As I am a puppy, I can get a bit mouthy and jump up on you when we are playing, but I never mean any harm and my mom has me working on it. Speaking of training I know how to sit already and we are working hold/wait commands. Potty training is a work in progress, I sometimes have a hard time holding my bladder when I get over excited or anxious so my mom is taking me out often when I’m not in my crate. I do like my crate okay, I go right in when asked and am pretty quiet overall in there until I get bored or need to go to the bathroom then I whine or bark to get your attention. You need to give me something constructive to chew on otherwise I might nibble on the bedding. I go all night in my crate with no accidents and am generally pretty good during the day when my mom is working as long as we take a few breaks. If I can tell that you are actually leaving I might cry in my crate for the first few minutes. I am currently living in a condo and my mom thinks I would do better with more space and a yard to run around in to help get my energy out. I do pull on a leash and am pretty strong already for my size. Sometimes my mom brings me to a friend’s yard and I am good in the car on the way over and then super excited to race all around when I get there. I am learning how to play fetch too, which is so cool! Although giving the ball back is still a work in progress. I have a lot of love to give, and I would love to give it to you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $575.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 22, 2024, 12:46 am

Story
Nebo is a smaller lab mix, around 33 lbs and approximately 4 years old. He came to rescue after being found wandering the streets in Mexico. Those streets aren’t safe for a pup, and something happened to injure one of Nebo’s front legs. It seems to have healed wrong, and our vet recommended amputation surgery to prevent future issues. Nebo is fully healed from that surgery and to his foster family’s amazement, he has learned to maneuver himself extremely well on three legs.   Despite his history and what he’s overcome, Nebo is an absolute sweetheart who loves people and is happiest when he’s sharing the love. Since coming into rescue, he has developed a deep love for soft beds and warm laps. Nebo has never met a person he doesn't love and will happily snuggle with his human friends all day long if we let him. He loves to cuddle next to them on the sofa and would be thrilled to be able to nap or sleep with his humans. However, he does go into his kennel immediately when asked and will sleep quietly all night long.    At about 33 lbs, he is a great size for smaller homes or apartments.  After years of living on the streets, he had developed a habit of lifting his leg in new environments. However, with consistency and the help of belly bands, and other dogs in the home, he is now completely housetrained. We have given him free run of the entire house overnight on occasion, and while away for short periods of time and he hasn’t had any trouble.   Nebo is currently in a foster home with several dogs of all sizes and a couple cats. He gets along well with the dogs, although he did need some coaching to get along with one of them. He perceived the other dog’s advances as threats, when realistically, the other dog was a young, larger puppy who just didn’t know how to initiate play. Once both dogs learned how to interact appropriately with one another, they got along much better. When meeting other new dogs, Nebo has had similar reactions. He eventually has gotten along well with all other dogs, but he has been slow to accept some of them.    Nebo isn’t great with cats. He doesn’t hurt them but he chases them down and tries to corner them whenever he sees them. He is easily redirected, but would likely do best in a home without cats.    Nebo knows several commands, including sit, stay, come, and will do almost anything for a treat.  He is still very excited to learn new things. Nebo loves to play tennis ball-fetch and will bring it back time and time again. He can get a little overly competitive with other dogs during ball play. We’ve found that if we let him run around with his own ball while other dogs are playing, he is perfectly happy with that. He plays well with toys on his own but isn’t a big fan of sharing. If other dogs respect that, he will happily play alongside them rather than with them.  He also enjoys chew toys and also loves to spend time chomping on a yak chew or a bully stick. This boy has the confidence and personality to fit into many households.  He would do fantastic as an only pet, but would also do well with other dogs, with slow introductions and a little patience. We feel he could be trained to leave cats alone as well, but that would take some time. If you are looking for a mid-sized buddy who is fully housetrained, long past the puppy behaviors and ready to be your best friend, please consider Nebo! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. She will entertain herself with toys or play for ages with other dogs. She's feisty, sweet, and full of love to give. Story
Hi! I’m Gypsy! I am a golden retriever mix who’s at that golden age stage where I’m not as active as a puppy but not as slow as a senior. I am about 2.5yrs old (10/2021). Unfortunately, through no fault of my own, I was bounced around a bit between different owners, so I haven’t had a stable home yet. But that’s where YOU come in! I’m hoping my sweet golden eyes with entice you to welcome me into your home forever. With my past of being bounced around, I do have some anxiety (more so in a kennel for long periods) but I do take a daily anxiety medication that helps. Just put it in a pill pocket and I’ll gobble it right up with my morning meal. I love playing with toys, kids, and other dogs. I have been known to be more of a dominant female, but only to some female dogs. I like to sniff cats at first, but then will completely ignore them. I ride great in a car – I love looking out the windows! I am crate trained (although may whine a little at the start knowing you’re going) & house trained. I am a great mix of calm and activity, as you see I will cuddle with you on the couch during the movie times but also would love to have zoomies in a yard or go for a run. Won’t you please be my forever?  I would be yours forever as long as I'm Your brown-eyed girl Do you remember when we used to sing? Story
This is Sunshine, she’s a Golden Retriever born approximately 4/7/21. I’ve been fostering Sunshine for a couple months and she’s made tremendous progress from her first days with me until now. She still needs some encouragement to come out of her crate and move away from her safe zones but once she’s out she does cautiously roam the house with my resident dogs.  Sunshine is skittish of loud noises (thunderstorms, fireworks, etc), sudden movements and is still cautious of new people. When she’s startled, she will retreat to the comfort of her crate.  Sunshine is not completely potty trained but is very close. She does potty outside when you take her outside. She is also trained to use potty pads inside.  Sunshine struggles with walking on a lead. We have tried many things but she tends to get defensive and begins to pull back the more you try to walk. At night, Sunshine sleeps in her crate which again is her safe space.  I think Sunshine would do best in a home which has another dog, as she is totally trusting and very comfortable with the resident dogs. She would also benefit from having a fenced in yard. Story
Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is just starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Dunne is a blank canvas and would love to have a person that will love him and teach him how to be the dog he knows he wants to be.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 22, 2024, 12:46 am
