Story

Vinny is the sweetest boy. He is overall very well-behaved and aims to please :) He does need some training and a family who has plenty of time to devote to him. We love him so much but he is not getting the time, training, or attention he deserves on a day-to-day basis. He does very well with our kids and our cats. He loves going for long walks and taking naps in the sunshine. He also snuggles like a baby in bed with you if you allow him. We would love to pair him with a family that is willing to continue sharing photos and updates occasionally, as we will miss him very much. This has been an extremely difficult decision for our family and we do not take this lightly so we will be taking our time to find the perfect family for this precious boy.

We acquired Bailey from a farmer who's dogs had puppies. Bailey will be 4 years old in July. Bailey would like space to run and plenty of time outside. She loves to play fetch and does great with kids, we have a 1 year old and she is great with her. Bailey is very loyal and wants to be close to her family.

Maverick is a 7-year-old male retriever-shepherd mix, who came into our program as an owner surrender when his family was no longer able to care for him due to unexpected life circumstances. Maverick had lived with his family since he was a puppy, and was very loved, but has been in foster care for almost a year now trying to find a new home. He lived in a home with young children and is reported to be great with kids 6 yr and older. Maverick is a very lovable dog, who thinks he’s a 90# lap dog and loves to snuggle with anyone who will let him. He probably should drop a couple pounds. Maverick loves to be with his people, he rides well in the car and likes to go on walks – he does tend to pull if he sees another dog or person that he would like to meet. Maverick has been great with all dogs and people he meets but can be a little shy at first. Maverick loves to play with toys, and he also enjoys an appropriate bone now and then. He is confined in “his” room for a full workday and is housebroken. He loves to hang out with his humans inside and out. A fenced yard is preferred so that he can wander around the yard safely, but is not required for his forever home. Maverick barks appropriately when in the yard and in the house, but when getting used to a new environment he also barks at noises he doesn’t recognize, so a home with shared walls may be difficult at first unless his human(s) are home much of the time to help him acclimate. Maverick is a pretty relaxed dog, who loves to hang out and be with his human(s). He could be an only dog, or in a home with other dogs. Maverick should not go with cats - he will chase them if they jump up or run and play. If the cats are senior, and aren't very active, he might be OK - the cat he's napping with in the picture is 21 yr young, and doesn't run from him, so they sometimes nap together. Maverick is up to date on his distemper and rabies vaccinations, heart worm tested negative and his microchip is registered to Second Chance. The adoption fee for Maverick is $195. She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside.
