Story
Meet Eula! This sweet girl is ready for her next chapter. Eula came into rescue from a large-scale overcrowding case. She is super sweet and obedient but also has a small desire to escape. She likes to scout the yard for places where she thinks she can dig out once you catch her pawing at the ground she runs back to you or stops what she’s doing. With time, routine, and comfort we are confident she will. She’s excellent in the crate. No issues in the house. Lower energy. Loves to just lay at the back door and watch things in the yard. Eula has done well with both dog and cat foster siblings. Medical History: Before Eula entered rescue her left ear was removed, and she has significant hearing loss on the left side. Her right ear and hearing on the right is in-tact. This does not impact her daily living and quality of life, and we do not expect future medical treatments related to the lost ear. *More information and photos added over time. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before a dog is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please fill out our application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/foster-application/ YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Story
Magdalena is not just any dog; she is a testament to the resilience and the unwavering spirit of a survivor. This beautiful 5-year-old Labrador mix has faced challenges that would have deterred many, yet her spirit remains unbroken and her heart full of love. Magdalena's journey has been a tough one. Due to a human-caused incident, she tragically lost one of her legs and, heartbreakingly, her puppies as well. Despite these hardships, Magdalena has shown incredible strength and determination to heal both physically and emotionally. The last picture was taken during her early healing stages, you can see her courageously taking each step forward, supported by her indomitable spirit. Today, Magdalena is fully healed and ready to embark on a new chapter of her life - one filled with love, compassion, and the security of a forever home. Her gentle demeanor and loving nature shine through every interaction. Magdalena adores human companionship and has a special affinity for belly rubs and leisurely walks. She is known for her playful antics and happy face. Magdalena's ideal home would be one where she is cherished as a member of the family and the only dog in the home. She does well with dogs her size or bigger but hasn't been around small dogs much and doesn't do well with smaller dogs. She has also never been around cats but given her reaction to small dogs, she probably would do best in a home without cats. She thrives on affection and is eager to return it tenfold. Whether it's snuggling on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, Magdalena is up for any adventure as long as she's by your side. If you're ready to open your heart to a dog who has overcome adversity with grace and love, Magdalena is waiting to meet you. Help us give this incredible survivor the happy ending she deserves - a forever home filled with kindness, warmth, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Could you be the one to give Magdalena the loving home she's been waiting for? Reach out today to meet this special dog and discover the joy she can bring to your life.

Story
Louie is a sweet 3.5 year old boy. He wants to please, but since he was neutered, he's terrified of everything. He's very anxious, but wants to be included in whatever you're doing. He follows me everywhere in the house, and will cuddle if given the chance. He needs a fenced yard, because he loves to zoom, and recall isn't reliable. Outside he's very vigilant will bark at anything he hears or any people he sees. When inside, he will bark at people passing on the street a block away. He has been coached by Canine Coach, and is currently on anti-anxiety medications through MN Veterinary Behavior. He's so anxious, he can override sedation drugs meant to make a vet visit possible -- no one can touch him there. We had a home-visit vet out; she didn't touch him either, even after an hour of feeding him treats. He needs an experienced handler with a quiet house and fenced yard. He needs to be the only pet, with adults. He has nipped when startled.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $200 plus taxMillie wants to please her people as well as be with them while they are at home. She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
Hey there! My name's Buddy, a spunky black lab born in February 2022. Life threw me a curveball early on, and I wasn't walking by 4 weeks old. My amazing foster mom took me in at 5.5 months, and together we started my journey to recovery. My back legs needed some TLC. My right leg had almost no muscle and wouldn't bend, so I swung it around. But my left leg is my champion – it's got more muscle and movement. Since then, I've had some physical therapy, including lots of toe wiggling and playful games (I may have licked my foster mom's face a few times – it's ticklish!). The experts say keeping my left leg moving is key, and maybe even a professional therapist could help me! I can walk/hop pretty well when I take it slow, but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me, and I scoot around like a happy wiggle worm. Here's the thing: because of my walking challenges, I'm not potty trained yet. My foster mom has figured out a cute trick – my tail sticks straight out when I gotta go potty, so she has a few seconds to help me out. Most of the time, I don't quite realize I need to go, and I just keep on moving. Plus, slippery floors are a no-go for me unless I have a good grip with my back leg. Stairs are okay, but I might need a hand going down (those rails can be tricky!). But here's the best part: My spirit is unstoppable! I shower everyone with love, from kids and adults to playful pups (haven't met any cats yet). I bark in my kennel – for attention, food time, bathroom breaks, and just because! So I shouldn't go somewhere with shared walls. Car rides are a breeze, as long as I'm safely tethered or crated. Oh, and I come with a special "Help Em Up" harness for all our future adventures! So, what do you say? Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special needs pup with a heart of gold? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 19, 2024, 9:49 am
