Story
Hello – my name is Natasha, but my foster family calls me Tashi. I came to Second Chance Animal Rescue from Texas. I didn’t have a home or family in Texas and was in a shelter until this wonderful rescue chose me to come to Minnesota and find my own forever family. I currently stay with my foster family and love all the fun I have here! I have four dog siblings that I get to play with, and I get lots of snuggles and treats from my human foster family . It’s THE BEST! I love to play with toys, chew on bones, snuggle with one of my foster humans, run in the back yard and will take any opportunity to lay in the sun. My foster humans know that I am still learning so when they have to go to work, I stay in my crate and have a soft blanket that I love to snuggle into and take a nap. Then I have lots of energy to play when my foster family comes home. I am still young, about 2 years old, and I can have lots of energy, but I would also love to snuggle on the couch with you if you will let me. I do love playing with my doggie foster siblings, but I don’t think I have to have a furry sibling if you are willing to play with me and take me on long walks. I really like having other dogs around, but I do get nervous when I first meet other dogs, but my foster mom has helped me learn that it’s OK and she helps me when I meet other dog. She would love to share with you how she does this so you can help me too. I can’t wait to find my own forever family. If you think we may be a match, please call Second Chance so you can talk with my foster mom to learn more about me. My foster mom would like to share some things here too: Tashi has done well in the foster homes. She has been with multiple dogs and does well – she can be nervous when meeting dogs for the first time. As her foster we’ve identified things that help Tashi meet other dogs without getting so overwhelmed and we are happy to talk with you about these. Tashi is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs that range in age from 2 – 12 ½ years old, varying size and activity levels and she does well. Tashi does enjoy playing with the other dogs in the foster home and also enjoys alone time with the humans in the foster home – so could be an only dog or with another dog. Tashi is a young dog and does need outlets for her energy … this could be in the form of walks, playing in the yard with her family, playing with toys in the house, etc. Tashi is working on house training; as long as she is kept on a schedule, she does great! Tashi is good in her crate for a full workday (8-9 hours) and keeps her crate clean. Tashi does sleep in her crate at night, in the foster’s bedroom as she prefers to be close to her family. Tashi doesn’t bark much and doesn’t seem to be bothered by noises in the house – so we anticipate she could do fine in an environment with shared walls. Tashi is not a good match for a home or family with cats as she chases them (similar to chasing rabbits and squirrels). Tashi is a beautiful young dog, at approximately 35-40 pounds she is a great size and best of all she is a great mix of active and chill. Tashi has been spayed, is current on rabies and distemper vaccinations, heartworm & tick panel were all negative, and she has a microchip. Tashi’s adoption fee is $350, the love and affection she gives is absolutely priceless. If you’re interested in learning more about Tashi, please call Second Chance at 651-771-5662.

Story
Maverick: Are you looking for a loyal, loving and fun-loving canine companion? If you are, Maverick may be just what you’ve been waiting for! Maverick is an 8-year-old, male, retriever-shepherd mix. Maverick came into our program in the fall of 2022, as an owner surrender when his family was no longer able to care for him. Maverick had lived with his family since he was a puppy and has been patiently waiting for his forever family. Maverick loves all people, and is great with children …. He is a big guy at almost 90# so we suggest children be approximately 6 years or older. Maverick is very sweet, gentle, loves to go for walks, play with toys, roam around the fenced yard at his foster home, play with his foster dog siblings, rides amazingly in the car and is always willing to hang out with you and catch up on your favorite TV programs too. Maverick is crate trained for a full workday, but is such a great dog that he doesn’t need to be crated when left home alone. Maverick is house trained and will let you know he needs to go outside. Maverick barks appropriately both inside the home and out in the yard. Maverick has gotten along with all dogs he’s met while in the program and could be an only dog, or paired with another dog(s). Maverick is currently in a foster home with 5 other dogs that range in size from a 15# to 70# and adjusts his interactions with each of them based on their individual personalities. He loves to run and wrestle with the bigger labs in the foster home and is particularly gentle with the older pug in the foster home who is 12 ½ years old, almost blind, deaf and has mobility issues. Maverick could live in a home with shared walls, or in a single family home …. As long as he gets daily exercise he’s a content canine companion. Maverick is up to date on his distemper and rabies vaccinations, heart worm tested negative and his microchip is registered to Second Chance. The adoption fee for Maverick is $195. If you would like to learn more about Maverick, or set up a time to meet him, please call us at 651-771-5662.

Snapshot of Trudy: Size? Full Size (40-60 pounds) Activity Level? I play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level? I bark when I play! Good with Dogs? I would LOVE a playmate, but would also do fine on my own Good with Cats? I'm ok with dog-savvy cats Good with Kids? Great, but I do jump up! Good with Strangers? I love everyone! Potty Trained? I'm a Pro! Crate Trained? I do well in my crate! Shedding? I don't shed much. About Trudy: Hello! My name is Trudy and I am looking for my forever home! I weigh about 52 pounds and I just love toys, my humans, and the dogs that live with me! I am very good at going to my crate and I'm learning to mind my manners when it's dinner time! I am almost a pro with potty training, I just need to know what door to stand by so my humans can see that I need to go out. I like slow intros to new dogs, once they understand my boundaries we do just fine. I love kids, but since I'm still learning not to jump up when I see people, older children would be better for me. I am quite the cuddler and would love to snuggle while you're working or watching TV! I also love to go on long walks. I would do well with another pet or as the star of the show. I would LOVE to find my forever home and am looking forward to meeting you! Trudy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for her age. Story
Meet Eula! This sweet girl is ready for her next chapter. Eula came into rescue from a large-scale overcrowding case. She is super sweet and obedient but also has a small desire to escape. She likes to scout the yard for places where she thinks she can dig out once you catch her pawing at the ground she runs back to you or stops what she’s doing. With time, routine, and comfort we are confident she will. She’s excellent in the crate. No issues in the house. Lower energy. Loves to just lay at the back door and watch things in the yard. Eula has done well with both dog and cat foster siblings. Medical History: Before Eula entered rescue her left ear was removed, and she has significant hearing loss on the left side. Her right ear and hearing on the right is in-tact. This does not impact her daily living and quality of life, and we do not expect future medical treatments related to the lost ear. *More information and photos added over time. We work hard to ensure that our rescues have a supportive family while at foster homes to help them move forward and get ready for their forever home. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before a dog is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please fill out our application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/foster-application/ YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Story
We adopted Ruby in April of 2023. A family friend had to get rid of her due to a busy household and work schedule. She was about 6 months old when we adopted her and is now about a year and half. She is a very, very sweet dog and loves people, including children, whom she is quite gentle with. She is half lab, half pit. She loves long walks, chew toys and napping with her pet family. She is a very affectionate dog and loves being petted and cuddling. We had her fixed last May, and she is in excellent health. WE want to keep her, but our HOA started to crack down on the number of pets home owners can have. We have another dog that is older and in declining health and we wouldn't feel right trying to find a home for her. We love Ruby but we know that she has many good years ahead for the right family.
